Intel Moorestown and Medfield are quite old Intel Atom based
32-bit platforms, which were in limited use in some Android phones,
tablets and consumer electronics more than eight years ago.
There are no bugs or problems ever reported outside from Intel
for breaking any of that platforms for years. It seems no real
users exists who run more or less fresh kernel on it. The commit
05f4434bc130 ("ASoC: Intel: remove mfld_machine") also in align
with this theory.
Due to above and to reduce a burden of supporting outdated drivers
we remove the support of outdated platforms completely.

The main purpose of tty_port::low_latency was removed in commit
a9c3f68f3cd8 (tty: Fix low_latency BUG) back in 2014. It was left in
place for drivers as an optional tune knob. But only one driver has been
using it until the previous commit. So remove this misconcept
completely, given there are no users.

This driver for the Intel MID never seems to have been properly
integrated upstream: the platform data in <linux/spi/ifx_modem.h>
is not used anywhere in the kernel and haven't been since it was
merged into the kernel in 2010.
There might be out-of-tree users, so I don't want to delete the
driver, but I will refactor it to use GPIO descriptors, which
means that out-of-tree users will need to adapt.
There are several examples in the kernel of how to provide the
resources necessary for using GPIO descriptors to pass in the
GPIO lines, for the MID platform in particular, it will suffice
to inspect the code in files like:
arch/x86/platform/intel-mid/device_libs/platform_bt.c
This refactoring transfers all GPIOs in the driver, including
a hard-coded "PMU reset" in the driver to use GPIO descriptors
instead.
The following named GPIO descriptors need to be supplied:
- reset
- power
- mrdy
- srdy
- rst_out
- pmu_reset

This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using
timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already
holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes,
since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with
the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following
examples, in addition to some other variations.
Casting from unsigned long:
void my_callback(unsigned long data)
{
struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
...
}
...
setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr);
and forced object casts:
void my_callback(struct something *ptr)
{
...
}
...
setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr);
become:
void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
{
struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
...
}
...
timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);
Direct function assignments:
void my_callback(unsigned long data)
{
struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
...
}
...
ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback;
have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args:
void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
{
struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
...
}
...
ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback;
And finally, callbacks without a data assignment:
void my_callback(unsigned long data)
{
...
}
...
setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);
have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion:
void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused)
{
...
}
...
timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);
The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script:
spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \
-I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \
-I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \
-I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \
-I ./include/generated/uapi --include ./include/linux/kconfig.h \
--dir . \
--cocci-file ~/src/data/timer_setup.cocci

Now that the SPDX tag is in all tty files, that identifies the license
in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording
can be removed as it is no longer needed at all.
This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in
the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff
like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never
needed.
No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed.

It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to
audit the kernel tree for correct licenses.
Update the drivers/tty files files with the correct SPDX license
identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX
identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of
the full boiler plate text.
This work is based on a script and data from Thomas Gleixner, Philippe
Ombredanne, and Kate Stewart.

gcc warns about a potential use of an uninitialized variable in this driver:
drivers/tty/serial/ifx6x60.c: In function 'ifx_spi_complete':
drivers/tty/serial/ifx6x60.c:713:6: warning: 'more' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]
if (more || ifx_dev->spi_more || queue_length > 0 ||
Unlike a lot of other such warnings, this one is correct and describes
an actual problem in the handling of the "IFX_SPI_HEADER_F" result code.
This appears to be a result from a restructuring of the driver that
dates back to before it was merged in the kernel, so it's impossible
to know where it went wrong. I also don't know what that result code
means, so I have no idea if setting 'more' to zero is the correct
solution, but at least it makes the behavior reproducible rather than
depending on whatever happens to be on the kernel stack.
This patch initializes the 'more' variable to zero in each of the
three code paths that could result in undefined behavior before,
which is more explicit than initializing it at the start of the
function.

The ifx6x60 driver implements both legacy suspend/resume callbacks and
dev_pm_ops. The SPI core is going to ignore legacy suspend/resume
callbacks if a driver implements dev_pm_ops. Since the legacy suspend/resume

Now, we start converting tty buffer functions to actually use
tty_port. This will allow us to get rid of the need of tty in many
call sites. Only tty_port will needed and hence no more
tty_port_tty_get in those paths.
Now, the one where most of tty_port_tty_get gets removed:
tty_flip_buffer_push.
IOW we also closed all the races in drivers not using tty_port_tty_get

SPI word size as 16 bit/word, however, SPI master may not adopt this default
value due to SPI controller's capability, it might choose an available value by
itself and set it to spi_device.bits_per_word. In order to keep align with

After commit "TTY: move tty buffers to tty_port", the tty buffers are
not freed in some drivers. This is because tty_port_destructor is not
called whenever a tty_port is freed. This was an assumption I counted
with but was unfortunately untrue. So fix the drivers to fulfil this
assumption.
To be sure, the TTY buffers (and later some stuff) are gone along with
the tty_port, we have to call tty_port_destroy at tear-down places.
This is mostly where the structure containing a tty_port is freed.
This patch does exactly that -- put tty_port_destroy at those places.

This patch is to correct the bit mapping of "MORE" and "CTS" in SPI frame header.
Per SPI protocol, SPI header is encoded with length of 4 byte, which is defined
as below:
bit 0 ~ 11: current data size;
bit 12: "MORE" bit;
bit 13: reserve
bit 14 ~ 15: reserve
bit 16 ~ 27: next data size
bit 28: RI
bit 29: DCD
bit 30: CTS/RTS
bit 31: DSR/DTR
According to above SPI header structure, the bit mapping of "MORE" and "CTS" is
incorrect in function ifx_spi_decode_spi_header();

This patch is to implement following 2 places to avoid potential error when IFX6x60 port shutdown:
1) Clear Flag IFX_SPI_STATE_IO_AVAILABLE to disable data transfer when Modem port is shutdown;
2) Clear Flag IFX_SPI_STATE_IO_IN_PROGRESS and IFX_SPI_STATE_IO_READY when reopen port.
This is because last port shutdown may happen when SPI/DMA transfer is in progress, if the last
data transfer is not completed(for example due to modem reset), the Flag IFX_SPI_STATE_IO_IN_PROGRESS
will be set forever, so when IFX port is activated again, IFX_SPI_STATE_IO_IN_PROGRESS will prevent
transferring data forever. And if don't clear IFX_SPI_STATE_IO_READY, it may cause one more SPI frame
transferring in spit there is not data need to be transfer.

SPI protocol driver only provide one function (swap_buf()) to swap SPI
data into big endian format, which is only available when SPI
controller's word width is 16 bits. But word width could be configured

different swap methods.This patch is to make SPI protocol driver choose

Currently we have no way to assign tty->port while performing tty
installation. There are two ways to provide the link tty_struct =>
tty_port. Either by calling tty_port_install from tty->ops->install or
tty_port_register_device called instead of tty_register_device when
the device is being set up after connected.
In this patch we modify most of the drivers to do the latter. When the
drivers use tty_register_device and we have tty_port already, we
switch to tty_port_register_device. So we have the tty_struct =>
tty_port link for free for those.

Remove linux/mm.h inclusion from netdevice.h -- it's unused (I've checked manually).
To prevent mm.h inclusion via other channels also extract "enum dma_data_direction"
definition into separate header. This tiny piece is what gluing netdevice.h with mm.h
via "netdevice.h => dmaengine.h => dma-mapping.h => scatterlist.h => mm.h".
Removal of mm.h from scatterlist.h was tried and was found not feasible
on most archs, so the link was cutoff earlier.
Hope people are OK with tiny include file.
Note, that mm_types.h is still dragged in, but it is a separate story.
