2021-07-15dt-bindings: Move fixed string 'patternProperties' to 'properties'Rob Herring
There's no need for fixed strings to be under 'patternProperties', so move them under 'properties' instead. 2021-06-21dt-bindings: Drop redundant minItems/maxItemsRob Herring
If a property has an 'items' list, then a 'minItems' or 'maxItems' with the same size as the list is redundant and can be dropped. Note that is DT schema specific behavior and not standard json-schema behavior. The tooling will fixup the final schema adding any unspecified minItems/maxItems. This condition is partially checked with the meta-schema already, but only if both 'minItems' and 'maxItems' are equal to the 'items' length. An improved meta-schema is pending. 2021-05-10spi: dw-apb-ssi: Integrate Renesas RZ/N1 SPI controllerGeert Uytterhoeven
Originally, the Renesas RZ/N1 SPI Controller DT bindings were not integrated in the main DT bindings for the Synopsys DesignWare Synchronous Serial Interface, but in its own file, as the RZ/N1 controller has additional registers for software CS control and DMA. As so far DMA is not supported on RZ/N1, and json-schema can handle any possible differences fine, integrate the RZ/N1 compatible values in the main DT bindings for the Synopsys DW SSI. 2021-04-20spi: brcm,spi-bcm-qspi: convert to the json-schemaRafał Miłecki
This helps validating DTS files. Changes that require mentioning: 1. reg-names "mspi_regs" and "bspi_regs" were renamed to "mspi" and "bspi" as that is what's used in DTS files and in Linux driver 2. interrupt-names Names were reordered. "mspi_done" has to go first as it's always required. 3. spi-rx-bus-width Property description was dropped as it's part of the spi-controller.yaml 4. Examples: * drop partitions as they are well documented elsewhere * regs and interrupts were formatted and reordered to match yaml * <0x1c> was replaced with <&gic> * "m25p80" node name became "flash" * dropped invalid "m25p,fast-read" property * dropped undocumented and Linux-unused "clock-names" This rewritten binding validates cleanly using the "dt_binding_check". Some Linux stored DTS files will require reordering regs and interrupts to make dtbs_check happy. 2021-03-23dt-bindings: Clean-up undocumented compatible stringsRob Herring
Adding checks for undocumented compatible strings reveals a bunch of warnings in the DT binding examples. Fix the cases which are typos, just a mismatch between the schema and the example, or aren't documented at all. In a couple of cases, fixing the compatible revealed some schema errors which are fixed. There's a bunch of others remaining after this which have bindings, but those aren't converted to schema yet. 2021-01-11dt-bindings: Add missing array size constraintsRob Herring
DT properties which can have multiple entries need to specify what the entries are and define how many entries there can be. In the case of only a single entry, just 'maxItems: 1' is sufficient. Add the missing entry constraints. These were found with a modified meta-schema. Unfortunately, there are a few cases where the size constraints are not defined such as common bindings, so the meta-schema can't be part of the normal checks. 2020-10-08spi: dw: Add Baikal-T1 SPI Controller bindingsSerge Semin
These controllers are based on the DW APB SSI IP-core and embedded into the SoC, so two of them are equipped with IRQ, DMA, 64 words FIFOs and 4 native CS, while another one as being utilized by the Baikal-T1 System Boot Controller has got a very limited resources: no IRQ, no DMA, only a single native chip-select and just 8 bytes Tx/Rx FIFOs available. That's why we have to mark the IRQ to be optional for the later interface. The SPI controller embedded into the Baikal-T1 System Boot Controller can be also used to directly access an external SPI flash by means of a dedicated FSM. The corresponding MMIO region availability is switchable by the embedded multiplexor, which phandle can be specified in the dts node. * We added a new example to test out the non-standard Baikal-T1 System Boot SPI Controller DT binding. 2020-10-07dt-bindings: Add missing 'unevaluatedProperties'Rob Herring
This doesn't yet do anything in the tools, but make it explicit so we can check either 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties' is present in schemas. 'unevaluatedProperties' is appropriate when including another schema (via '$ref') and all possible properties and/or child nodes are not explicitly listed in the schema with the '$ref'. This is in preparation to add a meta-schema to check for missing 'unevaluatedProperties' or 'additionalProperties'. This has been a constant source of review issues.
