2017-11-07USB: phy: Remove redundant license textGreg Kroah-Hartman
Now that the SPDX tag is in all USB files, that identifies the license in a specific and legally-defined manner. So the extra GPL text wording can be removed as it is no longer needed at all. This is done on a quest to remove the 700+ different ways that files in the kernel describe the GPL license text. And there's unneeded stuff like the address (sometimes incorrect) for the FSF which is never needed. No copyright headers or other non-license-description text was removed. 2017-11-04USB: add SPDX identifiers to all remaining files in drivers/usb/Greg Kroah-Hartman
It's good to have SPDX identifiers in all files to make it easier to audit the kernel tree for correct licenses. Update the drivers/usb/ and include/linux/usb* files with the correct SPDX license identifier based on the license text in the file itself. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text. This work is based on a script and data from Thomas Gleixner, Philippe Ombredanne, and Kate Stewart. 2017-10-04usb/phy-isp1301-omap: Remove .data assignmentKees Cook
The .data assignment appears to be redundant to the WORK_STOP bit for stopping the timer. 2016-03-04usb: isp1301-omap: mark power_up as __maybe_unusedArnd Bergmann
The power_up function is used for otg or udc mode, but nost when the driver is only configured for host mode: drivers/usb/phy/phy-isp1301-omap.c:261:13: error: 'power_up' defined but not used [-Werror=unused-function] This marks the function __maybe_unused to avoid the warning and silently drop the definition when it is unused. 2015-04-27usb: phy: isp1301: work around tps65010 dependencyArnd Bergmann
The isp1301-omap driver contains special hooks for the TPS65010 power management controller. It provides its own 'tps65010_set_vbus_draw' wrapper in case that driver is not enabled through Kconfig, but fails to handle the case where isp1301-omap is built-in but TPS65010 is a loadable module, which currently results in a link error: drivers/built-in.o: In function `isp1301_set_power': :(.text+0x14e188): undefined reference to `tps65010_set_vbus_draw' This is a workaround to use the same trick as before also when tps65010 is a module. Doing a proper fix would require much larger changes to the driver that is not really worth it when the usb-phy drivers are going to eventually get replaced with generic-phy drivers. 2014-11-03usb: rename phy to usb_phy in OTGAntoine Tenart
This patch prepares the introduction of the generic PHY support in the USB OTG common functions. The USB PHY member of the OTG structure is renamed to 'usb_phy' and modifications are done in all drivers accessing it. Renaming this pointer will allow to keep the compatibility for USB PHY drivers. 2014-11-03usb: move the OTG state from the USB PHY to the OTG structureAntoine Tenart
Before using the PHY framework instead of the USB PHY one, we need to move the OTG state into another place, since it won't be available when USB PHY isn't used. This patch moves the OTG state into the OTG structure, and makes all the needed modifications in the drivers using the OTG state. 2014-09-23usb: hub: rename khubd to hub_wq in documentation and commentsPetr Mladek
USB hub has started to use a workqueue instead of kthread. Let's update the documentation and comments here and there. This patch mostly just replaces "khubd" with "hub_wq". There are only few exceptions where the whole sentence was updated. 2014-05-16ARM: OMAP: replace checks for CONFIG_USB_GADGET_OMAPPaul Bolle
Commit 193ab2a60700 ("usb: gadget: allow multiple gadgets to be built") apparently required that checks for CONFIG_USB_GADGET_OMAP would be replaced with checks for CONFIG_USB_OMAP. Do so now for the remaining checks for CONFIG_USB_GADGET_OMAP, even though these checks have basically been broken since v3.1. And, since we're touching this code, use the IS_ENABLED() macro, so things will now (hopefully) also work if USB_OMAP is modular. 2013-07-23USB: phy: remove custom DBG macroGreg Kroah-Hartman

2013-04-05Merge tag 'usb-for-v3.10' of ↵Greg Kroah-Hartman
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/balbi/usb into usb-next Felipe writes: usb: patches for v3.10 merge window Here is the big Gadget & PHY pull request. Many of us have been really busy lately getting multiple drivers to a better position. Since this pull request is so large, I will divide it in sections so it's easier to grasp what's included. - cleanups: . UDC drivers no longer touch gadget->dev, that's now udc-core responsibility . Many more UDC drivers converted to usb_gadget_map/unmap_request() . UDC drivers no longer initialize DMA-related fields from gadget's device structure . UDC drivers don't touch gadget.dev.driver directly . UDC drivers don't assign gadget.dev.release directly . Removal of some unused DMA_ADDR_INVALID . Introduction of CONFIG_USB_PHY . All phy drivers have been moved to drivers/usb/phy and renamed to a common naming scheme . Fix PHY layer so it never returns a NULL pointer, also fix all callers to avoid using IS_ERR_OR_NULL() . Sparse fixes all over the place . drivers/usb/otg/ has been deleted . Marvel drivers (mv_udc, ehci-mv, mv_otg and mv_u3d) improved clock usage - new features: . UDC core now provides a generic way for tracking and reporting UDC's state (not attached, resuming, suspended, addressed, default, etc) . twl4030-usb learned that it shouldn't be enabled during init . Full DT support for DWC3 has been implemented . ab8500-usb learned about pinctrl framework . nop PHY learned about DeviceTree and regulators . DWC3 learned about suspend/resume . DWC3 can now be compiled in host-only and gadget-only (as well as DRD) configurations . UVC now enables streaming endpoint based on negotiated speed . isp1301 now implements the PHY API properly . configfs-based interface for gadget drivers which will lead to the removal of all code which just combines functions together to build functional gadget drivers. . f_serial and f_obex were converted to new configfs interface while maintaining old interface around. - non-critical fixes: . UVC gadget driver got fixes for Endpoint usage and stream calculation . ab8500-usb fixed unbalanced clock and regulator API usage . twl4030-usb got a fix for when OMAP3 is booted with cable connected . fusb300_udc got a fix for DMA usage . UVC got fixes for two assertions of the USB Video Class Compliance specification revision 1.1 . build warning issues caused by recent addition of __must_check to regulator API These are all changes which deserve a mention, all other changes are related to these one or minor spelling fixes and other similar tasks.
