2018-09-18intel-ethernet: rename i40evf to iavfJesse Brandeburg
Rename the Intel Ethernet Adaptive Virtual Function driver (i40evf) to a new name (iavf) that is more consistent with the ongoing maintenance of the driver as the universal VF driver for multiple product lines. This first patch fixes up the directory names and the .ko name, intentionally ignoring the function names inside the driver for now. Basically this is the simplest patch that gets the rename done and will be followed by other patches that rename the internal functions. This patch also addresses a couple of string/name issues and updates the Copyright year. Also, made sure to add a MODULE_ALIAS to the old name. 2018-04-30i40e/i40evf: cleanup incorrect function doxygen commentsJacob Keller

2017-08-27i40e: prevent snprintf format specifier truncationJacob Keller
Increase the size of the prefix buffer so that it can hold enough characters for every possible input. Although 20 is enough for all expected inputs, it is possible for the values to be larger than expected, resulting in a possibly truncated string. Additionally, lets use sizeof(prefix) in order to ensure we use the correct size if we need to change the array length in the future. New versions of GCC starting at 7 now include warnings to prevent truncation unless you handle the return code. At most 27 bytes can be written here, so lets just increase the buffer size even if for all expected hw->bus.* values we only needed 20. This patch implements the complete version of the virtchnl.h file with final renames, and fixes the related code in i40e and i40evf. 2017-06-01i40e/i40evf: create and use new unified header fileJesse Brandeburg
This moves a header for i40evf to include/linux/avf/virtchnl.h. The directory name AVF is an acronym for the Intel(R) Adaptive Virtual Function. This first step creates the new file, which is a rename of drivers/net/ethernet/intel/i40evf/i40e_virtchnl.h to include/linux/avf/virtchnl.h, and should show up in git as a rename when using git log --follow. To keep things building after the move, the changes to the i40evf driver are made to point to the new include file location. Add support for 25G devices - defines and data structures. One tricky part here is that the firmware support for these Devices introduces a mismatch between the PHY type enum and the bitfields for the phy types. This change creates a macro and uses it to increment the 25G PHY values when creating 25G bitfields. 2016-09-22i40e: avoid potential null pointer dereference when assigning lenColin Ian King
There is a sanitcy check for desc being null in the first line of function i40evf_debug_aq. However, before that, aq_desc is cast from desc, and aq_desc is being dereferenced on the assignment of len, so this could be a potential null pointer deference. Fix this by moving the initialization of len to the code block where len is being used and hence at this point we know it is OK to dereference aq_desc. 2014-08-27i40e/i40evf: add max buf len to aq debug print helperShannon Nelson
There is at least one case in the Firmware API where the response to a command changes the buffer size field in the AQ descriptor to a larger number than what the request's buffer size started as. This is in addition to setting an error flag and is in order to tell the requester how much larger a buffer is required for the answer. We need to be sure not to use that number when dumping the contents of the data buffer because it can send us into the weeds and generate an invalid pointer exception. This patch adds a max buffer size parameter to the print helper to be sure the code knows when to stop. Move a declaration up one level so we don't dereference it out of scope. This didn't cause any panics, but the details->async field would mysteriously disappear, causing unnecessary delays when sending AQ commands. Also, the code is just plain wrong. This patch builds upon Tom's original implementation and adds the L4 type return when we know it is an L4 hash. This requires use of the ptype decoder ring, so enable it.
