All DAI drivers are now using the new sdma-pcm platform driver. The omap-pcm can be removed from the tree, but we need to keep the SND_OMAP_SOC Kconfig option until the relevant defconfigs are updated to avoid regression due to missing audio. 2018-05-09ASoC: omap: Introduce the generic_dmaengine_pcm based sdma-pcmPeter Ujfalusi
With the generic dmaengine_pcm support the omap-cpm can be replaced with a much smaller wrapper. CPU DAI drivers can use the: int sdma_pcm_platform_register(struct device *dev, char *txdmachan, char *rxdmachan); To register the platform driver, txdmachan/rxdmachan is only needed to be provided if the DMA channel names are not standard tx/rx, like in case of McPDM, or the DAI is only capable of one audio direction (DMIC, HDMI). This patch only introduces the source file and changes to the Kconfig/Makefile, but does not change any of the DAI drivers to use it. I tried to fix this before and submitted a working patch, but after some discussion we came up with what seemed to be a nicer solution, resulting in commit 3d4cf65e2d ("ASoC: omap: fix up SND_OMAP_SOC_OMAP_ABE_TWL6040 dependency"). Unfortunately, that version was incomplete, and we still get this build error: drivers/clk/clk-palmas.c:46:16: error: field 'hw' has incomplete type drivers/clk/clk-palmas.c: In function 'to_palmas_clks_info': drivers/clk/clk-palmas.c:54:74: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type [-Winc This happens only in randconfig builds that turn on MFD_PALMAS on a platform other than OMAP2+ when COMPILE_TEST is set but COMMON_CLK is not. The new approach is only 'select COMMON_CLK_PALMAS' if we know that we are on an OMAP5 platform and MFD_PALMAS is already set. This patch has survived thousands of randconfig builds and I don't see a remaining hole in the logic. 2014-12-01ASoC: omap-hdmi-audio: Add platform device for OMAP HDMI audio supportJyri Sarha
The platform device should only be registered from OMAPDSS HDMI driver. The platform driver registers and unregisters all ASoC components needed for OMAP HDMI audio. The hdmi audio driver implements cpu-dai component using the callbacks provided by OMAPDSS and registers the component under DSS HDMI device. Omap-pcm is registered for platform component also under DSS HDMI device. Dummy codec is used as as codec component. The hdmi audio driver implements also the card and registers it under its own platform device. The new omap-twl4030 handles the boards used the following drivers: igep0020, omap3beagle, omap3evm and overo. Remove these drivers since they are mostly identical and we already have drop in replacement for all of them. Note: Earlier patch added the needed code for the board files to retain the audio support for boards I can identify that used one of the removed drivers. If I missed something please take a look at for example: arch/arm/mach-omap2/board-omap3beagle.c on how add support for omap-twl4030 audio. 2012-05-22ASoC: OMAP: HDMI: Use the DSS audio interfaceRicardo Neri
Instead of accessing the HDMI IP directly, the CPU DAI driver takes advantage of the audio interface provided by the DSS device driver. The ASoC driver will link the DSS audio functionality with ALSA by calling the appropriate DSS device driver functions at the relevant moments. For this, three new DAI operations are added: trigger, prepare and shutdown operations. At the moment, it is assumed that only one HDMI display is available in the system, as it is the case in OMAP4. However, in the future, one DAI for each HDMI display should be provided. Introduce codec for HDMI. At the moment, this is a dummy codec. In the future it will parse the EDID to modify the supported parameters, such as the number of channels and the sample rates. At the moment, it blindly supports all the sample rates and audio channels described in the HDMI 1.4a specification. Audio jack in Nokia RX-51/N900 is driven by TPA6130 headphone amplifier. This patch adds support for it and stereo output can be active when "Jack Function" == "TV-OUT" || "Headphone". As the TPA6130 can output very high volume levels the output is limited with snd_soc_limit_volume. Limiting value is found from Maemo kernel sources.
