2021-01-13ASoC: kirkwood: Use managed DMA buffer allocationLars-Peter Clausen
Instead of manually managing its DMA buffers using dma_{alloc,free}_coherent() lets the sound core take care of this using managed buffers. On one hand this reduces the amount of boiler plate code, but the main motivation for the change is to use the shared code where possible. This makes it easier to argue about correctness and that the code does not contain subtle bugs like data leakage or similar. 2019-10-23ASoC: kirkwood: fix device remove orderingRussell King
The devm conversion of kirkwood was incorrect; on removal, devm takes effect after the "remove" function has returned. So, the effect of the conversion was to change the order during remove from: - snd_soc_unregister_component() (unpublishes interfaces) - clk_disable_unprepare() - cleanup resources After the conversion, this became: - clk_disable_unprepare() - while the device may still be active - snd_soc_unregister_component() - cleanup resources Hence, it introduces a bug, where the internal clock for the device may be shut down before the device itself has been shut down. It is known that Marvell SoCs, including Dove, locks up if registers for a peripheral that has its clocks disabled are accessed. 2019-06-28ASoC: kirkwood: armada-370-db: consider CPU-Platform possibilityKuninori Morimoto
commit 717f16331712 ("ASoC: kirkwood: armada-370-db: don't select unnecessary Platform") Current ALSA SoC avoid to add duplicate component to rtd, and this driver was selecting CPU component as Platform component. Thus, above patch removed Platform settings from this driver, because it assumed these are same component. But, some CPU driver is using generic DMAEngine, in such case, both CPU component and Platform component will have same of_node/name. In other words, there are some components which are different but have same of_node/name. In such case, Card driver definitely need to select Platform even though it is same as CPU. It is depends on CPU driver, but is difficult to know it from Card driver. This patch reverts above patch. 2018-04-18ASoC: Remove depends on HAS_DMA in case of platform dependencyGeert Uytterhoeven
Remove dependencies on HAS_DMA where a Kconfig symbol depends on another symbol that implies HAS_DMA, and, optionally, on "|| COMPILE_TEST". In most cases this other symbol is an architecture or platform specific symbol, or PCI. Generic symbols and drivers without platform dependencies keep their dependencies on HAS_DMA, to prevent compiling subsystems or drivers that cannot work anyway. This simplifies the dependencies, and allows to improve compile-testing. Note: - The various SND_SOC_LPASS_* symbols had to loose their dependencies on HAS_DMA, as they are selected by SND_SOC_STORM and/or SND_SOC_APQ8016_SBC. 2015-03-11ASoC: kirkwood: fix struct clk pointer comparingShawn Guo
Since commit 035a61c314eb ("clk: Make clk API return per-user struct clk instances"), clk API users can no longer check if two struct clk pointers are pointing to the same hardware clock, i.e. struct clk_hw, by simply comparing two pointers. That's because with the per-user clk change, a brand new struct clk is created whenever clients try to look up the clock by calling clk_get() or sister functions like clk_get_sys() and of_clk_get(). This changes the original behavior where the struct clk is only created for once when clock driver registers the clock to CCF in the first place. The net change here is before commit 035a61c314eb the struct clk pointer is unique for given hardware clock, while after the commit the pointers returned by clk lookup calls become different for the same hardware clock. That said, the struct clk pointer comparing in the code doesn't work any more. Call helper function clk_is_match() instead to fix the problem. For now, only the analog audio input and output through the CS42L51 are supported, but a followup patch adds S/PDIF support to this driver. The ASoC core assumes that the PCM component of the ASoC card transparently moves data around and does not impose any restrictions on the memory layout or the transfer speed. It ignores all fields from the snd_pcm_hardware struct for the PCM driver that are related to this. Setting these fields in the PCM driver might suggest otherwise though, so rather not set them.
