2020-08-27cfg80211: add helper fn for adjacent rule channelsMarkus Theil
Some usable channels are located in the union of adjacent regulatory rules, for example channel 144 in Germany. Enable them, by also checking if a channel spans two adjacent regulatory rules/frequency ranges. All flags involved are disabling things, therefore we can build the maximum by or-ing them together. Furthermore, take the maximum of DFS CAC time values and the minimum of allowed power of both adjacent channels in order to comply with both regulatory rules at the same time. 2020-08-07mm, treewide: rename kzfree() to kfree_sensitive()Waiman Long
As said by Linus: A symmetric naming is only helpful if it implies symmetries in use. Otherwise it's actively misleading. In "kzalloc()", the z is meaningful and an important part of what the caller wants. In "kzfree()", the z is actively detrimental, because maybe in the future we really _might_ want to use that "memfill(0xdeadbeef)" or something. The "zero" part of the interface isn't even _relevant_. The main reason that kzfree() exists is to clear sensitive information that should not be leaked to other future users of the same memory objects. Rename kzfree() to kfree_sensitive() to follow the example of the recently added kvfree_sensitive() and make the intention of the API more explicit. In addition, memzero_explicit() is used to clear the memory to make sure that it won't get optimized away by the compiler. The renaming is done by using the command sequence: git grep -w --name-only kzfree |\ xargs sed -i 's/kzfree/kfree_sensitive/' followed by some editing of the kfree_sensitive() kerneldoc and adding a kzfree backward compatibility macro in slab.h. 2020-07-31nl80211: support 4-way handshake offloading for WPA/WPA2-PSK in AP modeChung-Hsien Hsu
Let drivers advertise support for AP-mode WPA/WPA2-PSK 4-way handshake offloading with a new NL80211_EXT_FEATURE_4WAY_HANDSHAKE_AP_PSK flag. Extend use of NL80211_ATTR_PMK attribute indicating it might be passed as part of NL80211_CMD_START_AP command, and contain the PSK (which is the PMK, hence the name). The driver is assumed to handle the 4-way handshake by itself in this case, instead of relying on userspace. This is in fact 'disabled' in the spec, but there it's in a place where that actually makes sense. 2020-07-31cfg80211/mac80211: add mesh_param "mesh_nolearn" to skip path discoveryLinus Lüssing
Currently, before being able to forward a packet between two 802.11s nodes, both a PLINK handshake is performed upon receiving a beacon and then later a PREQ/PREP exchange for path discovery is performed on demand upon receiving a data frame to forward. When running a mesh protocol on top of an 802.11s interface, like batman-adv, we do not need the multi-hop mesh routing capabilities of 802.11s and usually set mesh_fwding=0. However, even with mesh_fwding=0 the PREQ/PREP path discovery is still performed on demand. Even though in this scenario the next hop PREQ/PREP will determine is always the direct 11s neighbor node. The new mesh_nolearn parameter allows to skip the PREQ/PREP exchange in this scenario, leading to a reduced delay, reduced packet buffering and simplifies HWMP in general. mesh_nolearn is still rather conservative in that if the packet destination is not a direct 11s neighbor, it will fall back to PREQ/PREP path discovery. For normal, multi-hop 802.11s mesh routing it is usually not advisable to enable mesh_nolearn as a transmission to a direct but distant neighbor might be worse than reaching that same node via a more robust / higher throughput etc. multi-hop path. 2020-07-31cfg80211: allow the low level driver to flush the BSS tableEmmanuel Grumbach
The low level driver adds its own opaque information in the BSS table in the cfg80211_bss structure. The low level driver may need to signal that this information is no longer relevant and needs to be recreated. Add an API to allow the low level driver to do that. iwlwifi needs this because it keeps there an information about the firmware's internal clock. This is kept in mac80211's struct ieee80211_bss::sync_device_ts. This information is populated while we scan, we add the internal firmware's clock to each beacon which allows us to program the firmware correctly after association so that it'll know when (in terms of its internal clock) the DTIM and TBTT will happen. When the firmware is reset this internal clock is reset as well and ieee80211_bss::sync_device_ts is no longer accurate. iwlwifi will call this new API any time the firmware is started. 2020-07-31cfg80211: allow vendor dumpit to terminate by returning 0Julian Squires
nl80211 vendor netlink dumpit, like netlink_callback->dump, should signal successful completion by returning 0. Currently, that will just cause dumpit to be called again, possibly many times until an error occurs. Since skb->len is never going to be 0 by the time dumpit is called, the only way for dumpit to signal completion is by returning an error. If it returns a positive value, the current message is cancelled, but that positive value is returned and nl80211_vendor_cmd_dump gets called again. Fix that by passing a return value of 0 through. 2020-07-30cfg80211: check vendor command doit pointer before useJulian Squires
In the case where a vendor command does not implement doit, and has no flags set, doit would not be validated and a NULL pointer dereference would occur, for example when invoking the vendor command via iw. I encountered this while developing new vendor commands. Perhaps in practice it is advisable to always implement doit along with dumpit, but it seems reasonable to me to always check doit anyway, not just when NEED_WDEV. 2020-06-05cfg80211: fix management registrations deadlockJohannes Berg
Lockdep reports that we may deadlock because we take the RTNL on the work struct, but flush it under RTNL. Clearly, it's correct. In practice, this can happen when doing rfkill on an active device. Fix this by moving the work struct to the wiphy (registered dev) layer, and iterate over all the wdevs inside there. This then means we need to track which one of them has work to do, so we don't update to the driver for all wdevs all the time. xdp_umem.c had overlapping changes between the 64-bit math fix for the calculation of npgs and the removal of the zerocopy memory type which got rid of the chunk_size_nohdr member. The mlx5 Kconfig conflict is a case where we just take the net-next copy of the Kconfig entry dependency as it takes on the ESWITCH dependency by one level of indirection which is what the 'net' conflicting change is trying to ensure. 2020-05-31cfg80211: treat 6 GHz channels as valid regardless of capabilityJohannes Berg
If a 6 GHz channel exists, then we can probably safely assume that the device actually supports it, and then it should support most bandwidths. This will probably need to be extended to check the interface type and then dig into the HE capabilities for that though, to have the correct bandwidth check. 2020-05-31cfg80211: adapt to new channelization of the 6GHz bandArend Van Spriel
The 6GHz band does not have regulatory approval yet, but things are moving forward. However, that has led to a change in the channelization of the 6GHz band which has been accepted in the 11ax specification. It also fixes a missing MHZ_TO_KHZ() macro for 6GHz channels while at it. This change is primarily thrown in to discuss how to deal with it. I noticed ath11k adding 6G support with old channelization and ditto for iw. It probably involves changes in hostapd as well. Back with commit c8c240e284b3 (cfg80211: reg: remove support for built-in regdb, 2015-10-15), support for using CFG80211_INTERNAL_REGDB was removed in favor of loading the regulatory database as firmware file. The documentation of CFG80211_CRDA_SUPPORT was not adjusted, though, which is why it still mentions mentions the old way of loading via the internal regulatory database. Remove it so that the kernel option only mentions using the firmware file.
