2011-04-24net: Remove __KERNEL__ cpp checks from include/netDavid S. Miller
These header files are never installed to user consumption, so any __KERNEL__ cpp checks are superfluous. Projects should also not copy these files into their userland utility sources and try to use them there. If they insist on doing so, the onus is on them to sanitize the headers as needed. 2011-04-22inet: constify ip headers and in6_addrEric Dumazet
Add const qualifiers to structs iphdr, ipv6hdr and in6_addr pointers where possible, to make code intention more obvious. Signed-off-by: Eric Dumazet <eric.dumazet@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-04-15ipv6: RTA_PREFSRC support for ipv6 route source address selectionDaniel Walter
[ipv6] Add support for RTA_PREFSRC This patch allows a user to select the preferred source address for a specific IPv6-Route. It can be set via a netlink message setting RTA_PREFSRC to a valid IPv6 address which must be up on the device the route will be bound to. Signed-off-by: Daniel Walter <dwalter@barracuda.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2010-12-19ipv6: Fragment locally generated tunnel-mode IPSec6 packets as needed.David Stevens
This patch modifies IPsec6 to fragment IPv6 packets that are locally generated as needed. This version of the patch only fragments in tunnel mode, so that fragment headers will not be obscured by ESP in transport mode. 2010-04-13net: sk_dst_cache RCUificationEric Dumazet
With latest CONFIG_PROVE_RCU stuff, I felt more comfortable to make this work. sk->sk_dst_cache is currently protected by a rwlock (sk_dst_lock) This rwlock is readlocked for a very small amount of time, and dst entries are already freed after RCU grace period. This calls for RCU again :) This patch converts sk_dst_lock to a spinlock, and use RCU for readers. __sk_dst_get() is supposed to be called with rcu_read_lock() or if socket locked by user, so use appropriate rcu_dereference_check() condition (rcu_read_lock_held() || sock_owned_by_user(sk)) This patch avoids two atomic ops per tx packet on UDP connected sockets, for example, and permits sk_dst_lock to be much less dirtied. 2008-03-03[NETNS][IPV6] ip6_fib - gc timer per namespaceDaniel Lezcano
Move the timer initialization at the network namespace creation and store the network namespace in the timer argument. That enables multiple timers (one per network namespace) to do garbage collecting. 2008-01-28[NETNS][IPV6]: Make sysctls route per namespace.Daniel Lezcano
All the sysctl concerning the routes are moved to the network namespace structure. A helper function is called to initialize the variables. Because the ipv6 protocol is not yet per namespace, the variables are accessed relatively from the network namespace. Signed-off-by: Daniel Lezcano <dlezcano@fr.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2008-01-28[IPV6]: Make ip6_route_init to return an error code.Daniel Lezcano
The route initialization function does not return any value to notify if the initialization is successful or not. This patch checks all calls made for the initilization in order to return a value for the caller. Unfortunately, proc_net_fops_create will return a NULL pointer if CONFIG_PROC_FS is off, so we can not check the return code without an ifdef CONFIG_PROC_FS block in the ip6_route_init function. 2006-09-22[IPV6]: Multiple Routing TablesThomas Graf
Adds the framework to support multiple IPv6 routing tables. Currently all automatically generated routes are put into the same table. 2006-08-02[IPV6]: Audit all ip6_dst_lookup/ip6_dst_store callsHerbert Xu
The current users of ip6_dst_lookup can be divided into two classes: 1) The caller holds no locks and is in user-context (UDP). 2) The caller does not want to lookup the dst cache at all. The second class covers everyone except UDP because most people do the cache lookup directly before calling ip6_dst_lookup. This patch adds ip6_sk_dst_lookup for the first class. Similarly ip6_dst_store users can be divded into those that need to take the socket dst lock and those that don't. This patch adds __ip6_dst_store for those (everyone except UDP/datagram) that don't need an extra lock. Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-06-30[IPV6]: Added GSO support for TCPv6Herbert Xu
This patch adds GSO support for IPv6 and TCPv6. This is based on a patch by Ananda Raju <Ananda.Raju@neterion.com>. His original description is: This patch enables TSO over IPv6. Currently Linux network stacks restricts TSO over IPv6 by clearing of the NETIF_F_TSO bit from "dev->features". This patch will remove this restriction. This patch will introduce a new flag NETIF_F_TSO6 which will be used to check whether device supports TSO over IPv6. If device support TSO over IPv6 then we don't clear of NETIF_F_TSO and which will make the TCP layer to create TSO packets. Any device supporting TSO over IPv6 will set NETIF_F_TSO6 flag in "dev->features" along with NETIF_F_TSO. In case when user disables TSO using ethtool, NETIF_F_TSO will get cleared from "dev->features". So even if we have NETIF_F_TSO6 we don't get TSO packets created by TCP layer. SKB_GSO_TCPV4 renamed to SKB_GSO_TCP to make it generic GSO packet. SKB_GSO_UDPV4 renamed to SKB_GSO_UDP as UFO is not a IPv4 feature. UFO is supported over IPv6 also The following table shows there is significant improvement in throughput with normal frames and CPU usage for both normal and jumbo. -------------------------------------------------- | | 1500 | 9600 | | ------------------|-------------------| | | thru CPU | thru CPU | -------------------------------------------------- | TSO OFF | 2.00 5.5% id | 5.66 20.0% id | -------------------------------------------------- | TSO ON | 2.63 78.0 id | 5.67 39.0% id | -------------------------------------------------- Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au> Signed-off-by: David S.
