2007-04-25[SK_BUFF]: Introduce skb_reset_mac_header(skb)Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo
For the common, open coded 'skb->mac.raw = skb->data' operation, so that we can later turn skb->mac.raw into a offset, reducing the size of struct sk_buff in 64bit land while possibly keeping it as a pointer on 32bit. This one touches just the most simple case, next will handle the slightly more "complex" cases. Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-02-12[PATCH] mark struct file_operations const 1Arjan van de Ven
Many struct file_operations in the kernel can be "const". Marking them const moves these to the .rodata section, which avoids false sharing with potential dirty data. In addition it'll catch accidental writes at compile time to these shared resources. 2006-12-17[AX.25]: Fix unchecked ax25_linkfail_register usesRalf Baechle
ax25_linkfail_register uses kmalloc and the callers were ignoring the error value. Rewrite to let the caller deal with the allocation. This allows the use of static allocation of kmalloc use entirely. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-12-17[AX.25]: Fix unchecked ax25_protocol_register uses.Ralf Baechle
Replace ax25_protocol_register by ax25_register_pid which assumes the caller has done the memory allocation. This allows replacing the kmalloc allocations entirely by static allocations. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2006-12-17[AX.25]: Mark all kmalloc users __must_checkRalf Baechle
The recent fix 0506d4068bad834aab1141b5dc5e748eb175c6b3 made obvious that error values were not being propagated through the AX.25 stack. To help with that this patch marks all kmalloc users in the AX.25, NETROM and ROSE stacks as __must_check. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2006-12-08[AX.25]: Fix default address and broadcast address initialization.Ralf Baechle
Only the callsign but not the SSID part of an AX.25 address is ASCII based but Linux by initializes the SSID which should be just a 4-bit number from ASCII anyway. Fix that and convert the code to use a shared constant for both default addresses. While at it, use the same style for null_ax25_address also. 2006-03-19[AX.25]: Fix potencial memory hole.Ralf Baechle DL5RB
If the AX.25 dialect chosen by the sysadmin is set to DAMA master / 3 (or DAMA slave / 2, if CONFIG_AX25_DAMA_SLAVE=n) ax25_kick() will fall through the switch statement without calling ax25_send_iframe() or any other function that would eventually free skbn thus leaking the packet. Fix by restricting the sysctl inferface to allow only actually supported AX.25 dialects. The system administration mistake needed for this to happen is rather unlikely, so this is an uncritical hole. Coverity #651. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>

2005-10-22[AX.25]: Fix signed char bugRalf Baechle
On architectures where the char type defaults to unsigned some of the arithmetic in the AX.25 stack to fail, resulting in some packets being dropped on receive. Credits for tracking this down and the original patch to Bob Brose N0QBJ <linuxhams@n0qbj-11.ampr.org>. 2005-09-12[AX.25]: Add more PIDsRalf Baechle
Add a few more PID definitions. AX.25 PIDs are the equivalent to IP protocol numbers. Signed-off-by: Ralf Baechle DL5RB <ralf@linux-mips.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-09-12[AX.25]: Rename ax25_encapsulate to ax25_hard_headerRalf Baechle

2005-09-08[AX.25]: Make asc2ax() thread-proofRalf Baechle
Asc2ax was still using a static buffer for all invocations which isn't exactly SMP-safe. Change asc2ax to take an additional result buffer as the argument. Change all callers to provide such a buffer. This one only really is a fix for ROSE and as per recent discussions there's still much more to fix in ROSE ... 2005-09-06[AX25]: Make ax2asc thread-proofRalf Baechle

2005-08-29[NET]: Kill skb->real_devDavid S. Miller
Bonding just wants the device before the skb_bond() decapsulation occurs, so simply pass that original device into packet_type->func() as an argument. It remains to be seen whether we can use this same exact thing to get rid of skb->input_dev as well. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2005-08-23[AX25]: UID fixesRalf Baechle
o Brown paperbag bug - ax25_findbyuid() was always returning a NULL pointer as the result. Breaks ROSE completly and AX.25 if UID policy set to deny. o While the list structure of AX.25's UID to callsign mapping table was properly protected by a spinlock, it's elements were not refcounted resulting in a race between removal and usage of an element. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
