2016-08-02nilfs2: move ioctl interface and disk layout to uapi separatelyRyusuke Konishi
The header file "include/linux/nilfs2_fs.h" is composed of parts for ioctl and disk format, and both are intended to be shared with user space programs. This moves them to the uapi directory "include/uapi/linux" splitting the file to "nilfs2_api.h" and "nilfs2_ondisk.h". The following minor changes are accompanied by this migration: - nilfs_direct_node struct in nilfs2/direct.h is converged to nilfs2_ondisk.h because it's an on-disk structure. - inline functions nilfs_rec_len_from_disk() and nilfs_rec_len_to_disk() are moved to nilfs2/dir.c. 2016-08-02nilfs2: hide function name argument from nilfs_error()Ryusuke Konishi
Simplify nilfs_error(), an output function used to report critical issues in file system. This renames the original nilfs_error() function to __nilfs_error() and redefines it as a macro to hide its function name argument within the macro. Every call site of nilfs_error() is changed to strip __func__ argument except nilfs_bmap_convert_error(); nilfs_bmap_convert_error() directly calls __nilfs_error() because it inherits caller's function name. 2016-05-02make ext2_get_page() and friends work without external serializationAl Viro
Right now ext2_get_page() (and its analogues in a bunch of other filesystems) relies upon the directory being locked - the way it sets and tests Checked and Error bits would be racy without that. Switch to a slightly different scheme, _not_ setting Checked in case of failure. That way the logics becomes if Checked => OK else if Error => fail else if !validate => fail else => OK with validation setting Checked or Error on success and failure resp. and returning which one had happened. 2016-04-04mm, fs: get rid of PAGE_CACHE_* and page_cache_{get,release} macrosKirill A. Shutemov
PAGE_CACHE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN} macros were introduced *long* time ago with promise that one day it will be possible to implement page cache with bigger chunks than PAGE_SIZE. This promise never materialized. And unlikely will. We have many places where PAGE_CACHE_SIZE assumed to be equal to PAGE_SIZE. And it's constant source of confusion on whether PAGE_CACHE_* or PAGE_* constant should be used in a particular case, especially on the border between fs and mm. Global switching to PAGE_CACHE_SIZE != PAGE_SIZE would cause to much breakage to be doable. Let's stop pretending that pages in page cache are special. They are not. The changes are pretty straight-forward: - <foo> << (PAGE_CACHE_SHIFT - PAGE_SHIFT) -> <foo>; - <foo> >> (PAGE_CACHE_SHIFT - PAGE_SHIFT) -> <foo>; - PAGE_CACHE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN} -> PAGE_{SIZE,SHIFT,MASK,ALIGN}; - page_cache_get() -> get_page(); - page_cache_release() -> put_page(); This patch contains automated changes generated with coccinelle using script below. For some reason, coccinelle doesn't patch header files. I've called spatch for them manually. The only adjustment after coccinelle is revert of changes to PAGE_CAHCE_ALIGN definition: we are going to drop it later. There are few places in the code where coccinelle didn't reach. I'll fix them manually in a separate patch. Split up the block_write_begin implementation - __block_write_begin is a new trivial wrapper for block_prepare_write that always takes an already allocated page and can be either called from block_write_begin or filesystem code that already has a page allocated. Remove the handling of already allocated pages from block_write_begin after switching all callers that do it to __block_write_begin. 2010-08-09clean up write_begin usage for directories in pagecacheChristoph Hellwig
For filesystem that implement directories in pagecache we call block_write_begin with an already allocated page for this code, while the normal regular file write path uses the default block_write_begin behaviour. Get rid of the __foofs_write_begin helper and opencode the normal write_begin call in foofs_write_begin, while adding a new foofs_prepare_chunk helper for the directory code. The added benefit is that foofs_prepare_chunk has a much saner calling convention. Note that the interruptible flag passed into block_write_begin is always ignored if we already pass in a page (see next patch for details), and we never were doing truncations of exessive blocks for this case either so we can switch directly to block_write_begin_newtrunc. 2010-07-25nilfs2: avoid rec_len overflow with 64KB block sizeRyusuke Konishi
With 64KB blocksize, a directory entry can have size 64KB which does not fit into 16 bits we have for entry length. So this patch stores 0xffff instead and converts value when read from / written to disk.
