On my raven1 system (rev c6) with VBIOS 113-RAVEN-114 GFXOFF is not stable (resulting in large block tiling noise in some applications). Disabling GFXOFF via the quirk list fixes the problems for me. These are five patches fixing two race conditions around increase_address_space(). The first race condition was around the non-atomic update of the domain page-table root pointer and the variable containing the page-table depth (called mode). This is fixed now be merging page-table root and mode into one 64-bit field which is read/written atomically. The second race condition was around updating the page-table root pointer and making it public before the hardware caches were flushed. This could cause addresses to be mapped and returned to drivers which are not reachable by IOMMU hardware yet, causing IO page-faults. This is fixed too by adding the necessary flushes before a new page-table root is published. Related to the race condition fixes these patches also add a missing domain_flush_complete() barrier to update_domain() and a fix to bail out of the loop which tries to increase the address space when the call to increase_address_space() fails. Qian was able to trigger the race conditions under high load and memory pressure within a few days of testing. 2020-05-09gcc-10: mark more functions __init to avoid section mismatch warningsLinus Torvalds
It seems that for whatever reason, gcc-10 ends up not inlining a couple of functions that used to be inlined before. Even if they only have one single callsite - it looks like gcc may have decided that the code was unlikely, and not worth inlining. The code generation difference is harmless, but caused a few new section mismatch errors, since the (now no longer inlined) function wasn't in the __init section, but called other init functions: Section mismatch in reference from the function kexec_free_initrd() to the function .init.text:free_initrd_mem() Section mismatch in reference from the function tpm2_calc_event_log_size() to the function .init.text:early_memremap() Section mismatch in reference from the function tpm2_calc_event_log_size() to the function .init.text:early_memunmap() So add the appropriate __init annotation to make modpost not complain. 2020-05-09nvme: fix possible hang when ns scanning fails during error recoverySagi Grimberg
When the controller is reconnecting, the host fails I/O and admin commands as the host cannot reach the controller. ns scanning may revalidate namespaces during that period and it is wrong to remove namespaces due to these failures as we may hang (see 205da2434301). One command that may fail is nvme_identify_ns_descs. Since we return success due to having ns identify descriptor list optional, we continue to compare ns identifiers in nvme_revalidate_disk, obviously fail and return -ENODEV to nvme_validate_ns, which will remove the namespace. Exactly what we don't want to happen. 2020-05-08drm/amd/display: Fix vblank and pageflip event handling for FreeSyncNicholas Kazlauskas
[Why] We're sending the drm vblank event a frame too early in the case where the pageflip happens close to VUPDATE and ends up blocking the signal. The implementation in DM was previously correct *before* we started sending vblank events from VSTARTUP unconditionally to handle cases where HUBP was off, OTG was ON and userspace was still requesting some DRM planes enabled. As part of that patch series we dropped VUPDATE since it was deemed close enough to VSTARTUP, but there's a key difference betweeen VSTARTUP and VUPDATE - the VUPDATE signal can be blocked if we're holding the pipe lock. There was a fix recently to revert the unconditional behavior for the DCN VSTARTUP vblank event since it was sending the pageflip event on the wrong frame - once again, due to blocking VUPDATE and having the address start scanning out two frames later. The problem with this fix is it didn't update the logic that calls drm_crtc_handle_vblank(), so the timestamps are totally bogus now. [How] Essentially reverts most of the original VSTARTUP series but retains the behavior to send back events when active planes == 0. Some refactoring/cleanup was done to not have duplicated code in both the handlers. Releasing the AMDGPU BO ref directly leads to problems when BOs were exported as DMA bufs. Releasing the GEM reference makes sure that the AMDGPU/TTM BO is not freed too early. Also take a GEM reference when importing BOs from DMABufs to keep references to imported BOs balances properly. Currently we check to make sure there is no error state on the extcon handle for VBUS when writing to the HS_PHY_GENCONFIG_2 register. When using the USB role-switch API we still need to write to this register absent an extcon handle. This patch makes the appropriate update to ensure the write happens if role-switching is true. 2020-05-06net: flow_offload: skip hw stats check for FLOW_ACTION_HW_STATS_DONT_CAREPablo Neira Ayuso
This patch adds FLOW_ACTION_HW_STATS_DONT_CARE which tells the driver that the frontend does not need counters, this hw stats type request never fails. The FLOW_ACTION_HW_STATS_DISABLED type explicitly requests the driver to disable the stats, however, if the driver cannot disable counters, it bails out. TCA_ACT_HW_STATS_* maintains the 1:1 mapping with FLOW_ACTION_HW_STATS_* except by disabled which is mapped to FLOW_ACTION_HW_STATS_DISABLED (this is 0 in tc). Add tc_act_hw_stats() to perform the mapping between TCA_ACT_HW_STATS_* and FLOW_ACTION_HW_STATS_*. coalescing It's very unlikely that send will become true. It's nearly always false between 0 and 120 seconds of a session, and in most cases becomes true only between 120 and 121 seconds before becoming false again. So, unlikely(send) is clearly the right option here. What happened before was that we had this complex boolean expression with multiple likely and unlikely clauses nested. Since this is evaluated left-to-right anyway, the whole thing got converted to unlikely. So, we can clean this up to better represent what's going on. The generated code is the same. Users with pathological hardware reported CPU stalls on CONFIG_ PREEMPT_VOLUNTARY=y, because the ringbuffers would stay full, meaning these workers would never terminate. That turned out not to be okay on systems without forced preemption, which Sultan observed. This commit adds a cond_resched() to the bottom of each loop iteration, so that these workers don't hog the core. Note that we don't need this on the napi poll worker, since that terminates after its budget is expended. 2020-05-06wireguard: socket: remove errant restriction on looping to selfJason A. Donenfeld
It's already possible to create two different interfaces and loop packets between them. This has always been possible with tunnels in the kernel, and isn't specific to wireguard. Therefore, the networking stack already needs to deal with that. At the very least, the packet winds up exceeding the MTU and is discarded at that point. So, since this is already something that happens, there's no need to forbid the not very exceptional case of routing a packet back to the same interface; this loop is no different than others, and we shouldn't special case it, but rather rely on generic handling of loops in general. This also makes it easier to do interesting things with wireguard such as onion routing. At the same time, we add a selftest for this, ensuring that both onion routing works and infinite routing loops do not crash the kernel. We also add a test case for wireguard interfaces nesting packets and sending traffic between each other, as well as the loop in this case too. We make sure to send some throughput-heavy traffic for this use case, to stress out any possible recursion issues with the locks around workqueues. The K3 INTA driver, which is source TX/RX IRQs for CPSW NUSS, defines IRQs triggering type as EDGE by default, but triggering type for CPSW NUSS TX/RX IRQs has to be LEVEL as the EDGE triggering type may cause unnecessary IRQs triggering and NAPI scheduling for empty queues. It was discovered with RT-kernel. Fix it by explicitly specifying CPSW NUSS TX/RX IRQ type as IRQF_TRIGGER_HIGH. 2020-05-06net: dsa: ocelot: the MAC table on Felix is twice as largeVladimir Oltean
When running 'bridge fdb dump' on Felix, sometimes learnt and static MAC addresses would appear, sometimes they wouldn't. Turns out, the MAC table has 4096 entries on VSC7514 (Ocelot) and 8192 entries on VSC9959 (Felix), so the existing code from the Ocelot common library only dumped half of Felix's MAC table. They are both organized as a 4-way set-associative TCAM, so we just need a single variable indicating the correct number of rows. The presumption is that by using a circular counter that is twice as large as the maximum ELSP submission, we would never reuse the same CCID for two inflight contexts. However, if we continually preempt an active context such that it always remains inflight, it can be resubmitted with an arbitrary number of paired contexts. As each of its paired contexts will use a new CCID, eventually it will wrap and submit two ELSP with the same CCID. Rather than use a simple circular counter, switch over to a small bitmap of inflight ids so we can avoid reusing one that is still potentially active. 2020-05-06drm/i915/execlists: Avoid reusing the same logical CCIDChris Wilson
The bspec is confusing on the nature of the upper 32bits of the LRC descriptor. Once upon a time, it said that it uses the upper 32b to decide if it should perform a lite-restore, and so we must ensure that each unique context submitted to HW is given a unique CCID [for the duration of it being on the HW]. Currently, this is achieved by using a small circular tag, and assigning every context submitted to HW a new id. However, this tag is being cleared on repinning an inflight context such that we end up re-using the 0 tag for multiple contexts. To avoid accidentally clearing the CCID in the upper 32bits of the LRC descriptor, split the descriptor into two dwords so we can update the GGTT address separately from the CCID. 2020-05-06drm/i915/gt: Yield the timeslice if caught waiting on a user semaphoreChris Wilson
If we find ourselves waiting on a MI_SEMAPHORE_WAIT, either within the user batch or in our own preamble, the engine raises a GT_WAIT_ON_SEMAPHORE interrupt. We can unmask that interrupt and so respond to a semaphore wait by yielding the timeslice, if we have another context to yield to! The only real complication is that the interrupt is only generated for the start of the semaphore wait, and is asynchronous to our process_csb() -- that is, we may not have registered the timeslice before we see the interrupt. To ensure we don't miss a potential semaphore blocking forward progress (e.g. selftests/live_timeslice_preempt) we mark the interrupt and apply it to the next timeslice regardless of whether it was active at the time. v2: We use semaphores in preempt-to-busy, within the timeslicing implementation itself! Ergo, when we do insert a preemption due to an expired timeslice, the new context may start with the missed semaphore flagged by the retired context and be yielded, ad infinitum. To avoid this, read the context id at the time of the semaphore interrupt and only yield if that context is still active. 2020-05-06net: dsa: sja1105: the PTP_CLK extts input reacts on both edgesVladimir Oltean
It looks like the sja1105 external timestamping input is not as generic as we thought. When fed a signal with 50% duty cycle, it will timestamp both the rising and the falling edge. When fed a short pulse signal, only the timestamp of the falling edge will be seen in the PTPSYNCTS register, because that of the rising edge had been overwritten. So the moral is: don't feed it short pulse inputs. Luckily this is not a complete deal breaker, as we can still work with 1 Hz square waves. But the problem is that the extts polling period was not dimensioned enough for this input signal. If we leave the period at half a second, we risk losing timestamps due to jitter in the measuring process. So we need to increase it to 4 times per second. Also, the very least we can do to inform the user is to deny any other flags combination than with PTP_RISING_EDGE and PTP_FALLING_EDGE both set.
