2013-11-17watchdog: pcwd_usb: overflow in usb_pcwd_send_command()Dan Carpenter
We changed "buf" from being an array of 6 chars to being a pointer this sizeof(buf) needs to be updated as well. Fixes: 2ddb8089a7e5 ('watchdog: pcwd_usb: Use allocated buffer for usb_control_msg') Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <dan.carpenter@oracle.com> Reviewed-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net> Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>
2013-11-17watchdog: Get rid of MODULE_ALIAS_MISCDEV statementsJean Delvare
I just can't find any value in MODULE_ALIAS_MISCDEV(WATCHDOG_MINOR) and MODULE_ALIAS_MISCDEV(TEMP_MINOR) statements. Either the device is enumerated and the driver already has a module alias (e.g. PCI, USB etc.) that will get the right driver loaded automatically. Or the device is not enumerated and loading its driver will lead to more or less intrusive hardware poking. Such hardware poking should be limited to a bare minimum, so the user should really decide which drivers should be tried and in what order. Trying them all in arbitrary order can't do any good. On top of that, loading that many drivers at once bloats the kernel log. Also many drivers will stay loaded afterward, bloating the output of "lsmod" and wasting memory. Some modules (cs5535_mfgpt which gets loaded as a dependency) can't even be unloaded! If defining char-major-10-130 is needed then it should happen in user-space. 2013-11-17watchdog: pcwd_usb: Use allocated buffer for usb_control_msgGuenter Roeck
usb_control_msg() must use a dma-capable buffer. This fixes the following error reported by smatch: drivers/watchdog/pcwd_usb.c:257 usb_pcwd_send_command() error: doing dma on the stack (buf) Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net> Acked-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>
2012-03-27watchdog: nowayout is boolWim Van Sebroeck
nowayout is actually a boolean value. So make it bool for all watchdog device drivers. Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>
2012-03-27watchdog: Use pr_<fmt> and pr_<level>Joe Perches
Use the current logging styles. Make sure all output has a prefix. Add missing newlines. Remove now unnecessary PFX, NAME, and miscellaneous other #defines. Coalesce formats. Signed-off-by: Joe Perches <joe@perches.com> Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>
2011-11-18USB: convert some miscellanies drivers to use module_usb_driver()Greg Kroah-Hartman
This converts the remaining USB drivers in the kernel to use the module_usb_driver() macro which makes the code smaller and a bit simpler. Added bonus is that it removes some unneeded kernel log messages about drivers loading and/or unloading. 2010-05-20USB: rename usb_buffer_alloc() and usb_buffer_free() usersDaniel Mack
For more clearance what the functions actually do, usb_buffer_alloc() is renamed to usb_alloc_coherent() usb_buffer_free() is renamed to usb_free_coherent() They should only be used in code which really needs DMA coherency. All call sites have been changed accordingly, except for staging drivers. 2009-03-25[PATCH 13/13] drivers/watchdog: use USB API functions rather than constantsJulia Lawall
This set of patches introduces calls to the following set of functions: usb_endpoint_dir_in(epd) usb_endpoint_dir_out(epd) usb_endpoint_is_bulk_in(epd) usb_endpoint_is_bulk_out(epd) usb_endpoint_is_int_in(epd) usb_endpoint_is_int_out(epd) usb_endpoint_num(epd) usb_endpoint_type(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_bulk(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_control(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_int(epd) usb_endpoint_xfer_isoc(epd) In some cases, introducing one of these functions is not possible, and it just replaces an explicit integer value by one of the following constants: USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_BULK USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_CONTROL USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_INT USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_ISOC An extract of the semantic patch that makes these changes is as follows: (http://www.emn.fr/x-info/coccinelle/) // <smpl> @r1@ struct usb_endpoint_descriptor *epd; @@ - ((epd->bmAttributes & \(USB_ENDPOINT_XFERTYPE_MASK\|3\)) == - \(USB_ENDPOINT_XFER_CONTROL\|0\)) + usb_endpoint_xfer_control(epd) @r5@ struct usb_endpoint_descriptor *epd; @@ - ((epd->bEndpointAddress & \(USB_ENDPOINT_DIR_MASK\|0x80\)) == - \(USB_DIR_IN\|0x80\)) + usb_endpoint_dir_in(epd) @inc@ @@ #include <linux/usb.h> @depends on !inc && (r1||r5)@ @@ + #include <linux/usb.h> #include <linux/usb/...> // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk> Signed-off-by: Wim Van Sebroeck <wim@iguana.be>

2008-08-06[WATCHDOG] Coding style - Indentation - part 2Wim Van Sebroeck
This brings the watchdog drivers into line with coding style. This patch takes cares of the indentation as described in chapter 1. Main changes: * Re-structure the ioctl switch call for all drivers as follows: switch (cmd) { case WDIOC_GETSUPPORT: case WDIOC_GETSTATUS: case WDIOC_GETBOOTSTATUS: case WDIOC_GETTEMP: case WDIOC_SETOPTIONS: case WDIOC_KEEPALIVE: case WDIOC_SETTIMEOUT: case WDIOC_GETTIMEOUT: case WDIOC_GETTIMELEFT: default: } This to make the migration from the drivers to the uniform watchdog device driver easier in the future. 2008-08-06[WATCHDOG] Coding style - Indentation - part 1Wim Van Sebroeck
This brings the watchdog drivers into line with coding style. This patch takes cares of the indentation as described in chapter 1: The preferred way to ease multiple indentation levels in a switch statement is to align the "switch" and its subordinate "case" labels in the same column instead of "double-indenting" the "case" labels.
