2013-08-29OMAPDSS: remove all old panel driversTomi Valkeinen
The board files now use the new panel drivers, making the old panel drivers obsolete. Remove the old panel drivers, Kconfig and Makefile entries, and the panels' platform data structs. Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com> Reviewed-by: Archit Taneja <archit@ti.com>

Regulator handling for DPI and SDI is currently handled in the core.c, using the 'virtual' omapdss platform device. 2013-08-29OMAPDSS: RFBI: Mark RFBI as brokenTomi Valkeinen
OMAPDSS's RFBI encoder driver has not been working for some time. The Nokia N800 is the only board in the mainline that uses RFBI, but it has never been fully functional. The RFBI driver needs to be updated to the new panel model, but as the driver is rather unmaintained and there's no way to test the changes, let's mark the driver as broken. 2013-08-09video: da8xx-fb: set upstream clock rate (if reqd)Darren Etheridge
Based on original patch by: Afzal Mohammed <afzal@ti.com> LCDC IP has a clock divider to adjust pixel clock, this limits pixel clock range to fck/255 - fck/2(fck - rate of input clock to LCDC IP). In the case of AM335x, where this IP is present, default fck is not sufficient to provide normal pixel clock rates, hence rendering this driver unusable on AM335x. If input clock too is configurable, allowable range of pixel clock would increase. Here initially it is checked whether with present fck, divider in IP could be configured to obtain required rate, if not, fck is adjusted. This makes it usable on AM335x. Note: Another solution would be to model an inherited basic clock divider of CCF, an advantage would be a better possible resolution for pixel clk. And trying to instantiate a CCF clock would mean that to be consistent, 3 bits being turned on to enable clocks of LCDC IP would have to be modeled as gate clocks. Now that would bring in a total of 4 clocks, including necessity to create a new inherited divider clock, and that mean a branch of clock tree would be present in LCDC driver. This would add complexity to LCDC driver bringing in considerable amount of clock handling code, and this would not bring in much advantage for existing use cases other than providing a higher resolution of pixel clock. And existing use cases work without relying on clock modeling. Another fact is that out of the two platform's using this driver DaVinci is not yet converted to CCF. In future if higher resolution of pixel clock is required, and probably after DaVinci is CCF'ed, modeling clock nodes inside driver may be considered. v2: purely cosmetic changes to try and clarify what variables are being used for in the clock rate / divider calculations Signed-off-by: Darren Etheridge <detheridge@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Tomi Valkeinen <tomi.valkeinen@ti.com>

2013-08-06OMAPDSS: HDMI: Fix AVI infoframe bugMythri P K
ti_hdmi_4xxx_basic_configure() is supposed to initialize the AVI infoframe data in the ip_data container. However, the function actually takes a copy of the infoframe from the ip_data, and then goes on initializing that copy. The initialized data is never copied back to the ip_data container, thus the infoframe in ip_data is left always zero. Afaik, this doesn't really cause any issues in the current mainline, as we don't use the advanced features offered by the AVI infoframe. This patch fixes the initialization of the AVI infoframe. 2013-08-02fbdev: fbcon: select VT_HW_CONSOLE_BINDINGDavid Herrmann
fbdev provides framebuffer hotplugging, hence, we need to allow fbcon to unbind from framebuffers. Unfortunately, fbcon_fb_unbind() cannot unbind from the last framebuffer, unless console-unbinding is supported. Fixing fbcon_unbind() to return 0 caused some horrible NULL-derefs in the VT layer and I couldn't figure out why. Hence, lets just require console-unbinding so fbdev hotplugging works with fbcon. 2013-08-02fbdev: simplefb: mark as fw and allocate aperturesDavid Herrmann
fbdev-core uses FBINFO_MISC_FIRMWARE to mark drivers that use firmware framebuffers. Furthermore, we now allocate apertures for the fbinfo device. Both information is used by remove_conflicting_framebuffers() to remove a fbdev device whenever a real driver is loaded. This is used heavily on x86 for VGA/vesa/EFI framebuffers, but is also of great use for all other systems. Especially with x86 support for simplefb, this information is needed to unload simplefb before a real hw-driver (like i915, radeon, nouveau) is loaded. 2013-08-02fbdev: simplefb: add init through platform_dataDavid Herrmann
If we create proper platform-devices in x86 boot-code, we can use simplefb for VBE or EFI framebuffers, too. However, there is normally no OF support so we introduce a platform_data object so x86 boot-code can pass the parameters via plain old platform-data. This also removes the OF dependency as it is not needed. The headers provide proper dummies for the case OF is disabled. Furthermore, we move the FORMAT-definitions to the common platform header so initialization code can use it to transform "struct screen_info" to the right format-name. 2013-08-02video: mxsfb: fix color settings for 18bit data bus and 32bppHector Palacios
For a combination of 18bit LCD data bus width and a color mode of 32bpp, the driver was setting the color mapping to rgb666, which is wrong, as the color in memory realy has an rgb888 layout. This patch also removes the setting of flag CTRL_DF24 that makes the driver dimiss the upper 2 bits when handling 32/24bpp colors in a diplay with 18bit data bus width. This flag made true color images display wrong in such configurations. Finally, the color mapping rgb666 has also been removed as nobody is using it and high level applications like Qt5 cannot work with it either. 2013-08-02OMAPDSS: analog-tv-connector: compile fixTomi Valkeinen
connector-analog-tv.c uses omap_dss_pal_timings, defined in omapdss's venc.c, for default timings. omap_dss_pal_timings only exists when VENC is enabled in the kernel config, so disabling VENC breaks omap_dss_pal_timings connector-analog-tv compilation. Instead of adding dependency to VENC, add internal default timings to the connector driver, because the connector driver should not depend on VENC, and it can be used with any other analog TV encoder. 2013-08-02Drivers: hv: remove HV_DRV_VERSIONOlaf Hering
Remove HV_DRV_VERSION, it has no meaning for upstream drivers. Initially it was supposed to show the "Linux Integration Services" version, now it is not in sync anymore with the out-of-tree drivers available from the MSFT website. The only place where a version string is still required is the KVP command "IntegrationServicesVersion" which is handled by tools/hv/hv_kvp_daemon.c. To satisfy such KVP request from the host pass the current string to the daemon during KVP userland registration. Signed-off-by: Olaf Hering <olaf@aepfle.de> Acked-by: K. Y.
