2018-06-11backlight: tps65217_bl: Fix Device Tree node lookupJohan Hovold
Fix child-node lookup during probe, which ended up searching the whole device tree depth-first starting at the parent rather than just matching on its children. This would only cause trouble if the child node is missing while there is an unrelated node named "backlight" elsewhere in the tree. 2017-10-13mfd: tps65217: Introduce dependency on CONFIG_OFKeerthy
Currently the driver boots only via device tree hence add a dependency on CONFIG_OF. This leaves with a bunch of unused code so clean that up. This patch also makes use of probe_new function in place of the probe function so as to avoid passing i2c_device_id. 2017-10-13backlight: tps65217_bl: Remove unnecessary default brightness checkChristos Gkekas
Variable val holds the default brightness and is unsigned, therefore checking whether it is less than zero is redundant. The device table is required to load modules based on modaliases. Signed-off-by: Enric Balletbo i Serra <enric.balletbo@collabora.com> Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>
2014-08-28backlight: Remove .owner field for drivers using module_platform_driverPeter Griffin
This patch removes the superflous .owner field for drivers which use the module_platform_driver or platform_driver_register api, as this is overriden in __platform_driver_register. Signed-off-by: Peter Griffin <peter.griffin@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>
2014-06-23backlight: Remove trivial get_brightness implementationsAndrzej Hajda
Since backlight core returns props.brightness in case get_brightness is not implemented trivial implementations are not needed anymore. Acked-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Andrzej Hajda <a.hajda@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>
2014-04-03backlight: tps65217_bl: remove unnecessary OOM messagesJingoo Han
The site-specific OOM messages are unnecessary, because they duplicate the MM subsystem generic OOM message. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: Andrew Morton <akpm@linux-foundation.org> Signed-off-by: Linus Torvalds <torvalds@linux-foundation.org>

2013-11-13backlight: use dev_get_platdata()Jingoo Han
Use the wrapper function for retrieving the platform data instead of accessing dev->platform_data directly. This is a cosmetic change to make the code simpler and enhance the readability. 2012-09-25backlight: Add TPS65217 WLED driverMatthias Kaehlcke
The TPS65217 chip contains a boost converter and current sinks which can be used to drive LEDs for use as backlights. Expose this functionality via the backlight API. Tested on an AM335x based custom board with a single WLED string, using different values for ISEL and FDIM (though it would be hard to tell the difference except for the value in WLEDCTRL1). Both instantiation through the device tree and by passing platform data have been tested. Testing has been done with an Androidized 3.2 kernel from the rowboat project. Koen Kooi reported the driver to be working on a Beaglebone board with LCD3 cape Signed-off-by: Matthias Kaehlcke <matthias@kaehlcke.net> Signed-off-by: Samuel Ortiz <sameo@linux.intel.com>
