2011-06-07USB: wusbcore: return negative error codesDan Carpenter
cbaf_cdid_get() is only used in cbaf_wusb_chid_store(). In the original code cbaf_cdid_get() returns either a negative error code or a small positive value on error. I have changed it to return -ENOENT if there is not enough data available. In the original code the caller changed the negative error codes to positive return values. I've changed it to just return the error value directly. Signed-off-by: Dan Carpenter <error27@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>

2011-03-13USB 3.0 Hub ChangesJohn Youn
Update the USB core to deal with USB 3.0 hubs. These hubs have a slightly different hub descriptor than USB 2.0 hubs, with a fixed (rather than variable length) size. Change the USB core's hub descriptor to have a union for the last fields that differ. Change the host controller drivers that access those last fields (DeviceRemovable and PortPowerCtrlMask) to use the union. Translate the new version of the hub port status field into the old version that khubd understands. (Note: we need to fix it to translate the roothub's port status once we stop converting it to USB 2.0 hub status internally.) Add new code to handle link state change status. Send out new control messages that are needed for USB 3.0 hubs, like Set Hub Depth. This patch is a modified version of the original patch submitted by John Youn. It's updated to reflect the removal of the "bitmap" #define, and change the hub descriptor accesses of a couple new host controller drivers. 2011-03-13USB: Remove bitmap #define from hcd.hSarah Sharp
Using a #define to redefine a common variable name is a bad thing, especially when the #define is in a header. include/linux/usb/hcd.h redefined bitmap to DeviceRemovable to avoid typing a long field in the hub descriptor. This has unintended side effects for files like drivers/usb/core/devio.c that include that file, since another header included after hcd.h has different variables named bitmap. Remove the bitmap #define and replace instances of it in the host controller code. Cleanup the spaces around function calls and square brackets while we're at it. 2011-03-02wusb: fix find_first_zero_bit() return value checkAkinobu Mita
In wusb_cluster_id_get(), if no zero bits exist in wusb_cluster_id_table, find_first_zero_bit() returns CLUSTER_IDS. But it is impossible to detect that the bitmap is full because there is an off-by-one error in the return value check. It will cause unexpected memory access by setting bit out of wusb_cluster_id_table bitmap, and caller will get wrong cluster id. 2010-05-20USB: remove uses of URB_NO_SETUP_DMA_MAPAlan Stern
This patch (as1350) removes all usages of coherent buffers for USB control-request setup-packet buffers. There's no good reason to reserve coherent memory for these things; control requests are hardly ever used in large quantity (the major exception is firmware transfers, and they aren't time-critical). Furthermore, only seven drivers used it. We might as well always use streaming DMA mappings for setup-packet buffers, and remove some extra complexity from usbcore. The DMA-mapping portion of hcd.c is currently in flux. A separate patch will be submitted to remove support for URB_NO_SETUP_DMA_MAP after everything else settles down. The removal should go smoothly, as by then nobody will be using it. Signed-off-by: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>
2010-05-20USB: make hcd.h public (drivers dependency)Eric Lescouet
The usbcore headers: hcd.h and hub.h are shared between usbcore, HCDs and a couple of other drivers (e.g. USBIP modules). So, it makes sense to move them into a more public location and to cleanup dependency of those modules on kernel internal headers. This patch moves hcd.h from drivers/usb/core into include/linux/usb/ Signed-of-by: Eric Lescouet <eric@lescouet.org> Cc: Alan Stern <stern@rowland.harvard.edu> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@suse.de>

2010-03-30include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo
implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. 2008-12-22uwb: use print_hex_dump()David Vrabel
Use print_hex_dump() instead of the home-grown dump_bytes(). Signed-off-by: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@csr.com>
2008-12-22uwb: use dev_dbg() for debug messagesDavid Vrabel
Instead of the home-grown d_fnstart(), d_fnend() and d_printf() macros, use dev_dbg() or remove the message entirely. Signed-off-by: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@csr.com>
2008-12-12wusb: fix oops when terminating a non-existant reservationDavid Vrabel
If a reservation was not established, do not try terminating it. Signed-off-by: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@csr.com>
2008-12-12uwb: improved MAS allocator and reservation conflict handlingStefano Panella
Greatly enhance the MAS allocator: - Handle row and column reservations. - Permit all the available MAS to be allocated. - Follows the WiMedia rules on MAS selection. Take appropriate action when reservation conflicts are detected. - Correctly identify which reservation wins the conflict. - Protect alien BP reservations. - If an owned reservation loses, resize/move it. - Follow the backoff procedure before requesting additional MAS. When reservations are terminated, move the remaining reservations (if necessary) so they keep following the MAS allocation rules. 2008-11-25wusb: whci-hcd shouldn't do ASL/PZL updates while channel is inactiveDavid Vrabel
ASL/PZL updates while the WUSB channel is inactive (i.e., the PZL and ASL are stopped) may not complete. This causes hangs when removing the whci-hcd module if a device is still connected (removing the device does an endpoint_disable which results in an ASL update to remove the qset). If the WUSB channel is inactive the update can simply be skipped as the WHC doesn't care about the state of the ASL/PZL. Signed-off-by: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@csr.com>
2008-11-19uwb: add basic radio managerDavid Vrabel
The UWB radio manager coordinates the use of the radio between the PALs that may be using it. PALs request use of the radio with uwb_radio_start() and the radio manager will start beaconing if its not already doing so. When the last PAL has called uwb_radio_stop() beaconing will be stopped. In the future, the radio manager will have a more sophisticated channel selection algorithm, probably following the Channel Selection Policy from the WiMedia Alliance when it is finalized. For now, channel 9 (BG1, TFC1) is selected. The user may override the channel selected by the radio manager and may force the radio to stop beaconing. The WUSB Host Controller PAL makes use of this and there are two new debug PAL commands that can be used for testing. Signed-off-by: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@csr.com>
