2021-06-14usb: musb: Implement tracing for state change eventsTony Lindgren
The devctl register on musb is the only way to get state information on musb. The hardware can easily get confused because it tries to do things on it's own automagically, and things like slow VBUS rise can make things fail. Let's make it easier to debug the ongoing state change issues that keep popping up on regular basis and add tracing support. With these changes we can easily trace musb state change events with: echo 1 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/musb/musb_state/enable cat /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/trace_pipe echo 0 > /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/musb/musb_state/enable Cc: Alexandre Belloni <alexandre.belloni@bootlin.com> Cc: Andreas Kemnade <andreas@kemnade.info> Cc: Bhushan Shah <bshah@kde.org> Cc: Drew Fustini <drew@beagleboard.org> Cc: Thomas Petazzoni <thomas.petazzoni@bootlin.com> Signed-off-by: Tony Lindgren <tony@atomide.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210604080536.12185-2-tony@atomide.com Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>

2021-06-02usb: musb: fix MUSB_QUIRK_B_DISCONNECT_99 handlingThomas Petazzoni
In commit 92af4fc6ec33 ("usb: musb: Fix suspend with devices connected for a64"), the logic to support the MUSB_QUIRK_B_DISCONNECT_99 quirk was modified to only conditionally schedule the musb->irq_work delayed work. This commit badly breaks ECM Gadget on AM335X. Indeed, with this commit, one can observe massive packet loss: $ ping 192.168.0.100 ... 15 packets transmitted, 3 received, 80% packet loss, time 14316ms Reverting this commit brings back a properly functioning ECM Gadget. An analysis of the commit seems to indicate that a mistake was made: the previous code was not falling through into the MUSB_QUIRK_B_INVALID_VBUS_91, but now it is, unless the condition is taken. Changing the logic to be as it was before the problematic commit *and* only conditionally scheduling musb->irq_work resolves the regression: $ ping 192.168.0.100 ... 64 packets transmitted, 64 received, 0% packet loss, time 64475ms Fixes: 92af4fc6ec33 ("usb: musb: Fix suspend with devices connected for a64") Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org Tested-by: Alexandre Belloni <alexandre.belloni@bootlin.com> Tested-by: Drew Fustini <drew@beagleboard.org> Acked-by: Tony Lindgren <tony@atomide.com> Signed-off-by: Thomas Petazzoni <thomas.petazzoni@bootlin.com> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210528140446.278076-1-thomas.petazzoni@bootlin.com Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2021-05-21usb: musb: Check devctl status again for a spurious session requestTony Lindgren
On start-up, we can get a spurious session request interrupt with nothing connected. After that the devctl session bit will silently clear, but the musb hardware is never idled until a cable is plugged in, or the glue layer module is reloaded. Let's just check the session bit again in 3 seconds in peripheral mode to catch the issue. 2021-05-21usb: musb: Add missing PM suspend and resume functions for 2430 glueTony Lindgren
Looks like we are missing suspend and resume functions for pm_ops that are needed to idle the hardware for system suspend for 2430 glue layer. We can rely on the driver internal PM runtime state, and call driver functions to idle the hardware on suspend if needed. There is no need to add a dependency to PM runtime for system suspend here. 2021-02-05usb: musb: Fix NULL check on struct musb_request fieldPaul Cercueil
The 'request' variable is a pointer to the 'request' field of the struct musb_request 'req' pointer. It only worked until now because the 'request' field is the first one in the musb_request structure, but as soon as that changes, the check will be invalid. Fix it preventively by doing the NULL-check on the 'req' pointer instead. 2021-02-05usb: musb: Fix runtime PM race in musb_queue_resume_workPaul Cercueil
musb_queue_resume_work() would call the provided callback if the runtime PM status was 'active'. Otherwise, it would enqueue the request if the hardware was still suspended (musb->is_runtime_suspended is true). This causes a race with the runtime PM handlers, as it is possible to be in the case where the runtime PM status is not yet 'active', but the hardware has been awaken (PM resume function has been called). When hitting the race, the resume work was not enqueued, which probably triggered other bugs further down the stack. For instance, a telnet connection on Ingenic SoCs would result in a 50/50 chance of a segmentation fault somewhere in the musb code. Rework the code so that either we call the callback directly if (musb->is_runtime_suspended == 0), or enqueue the query otherwise. 2020-05-25usb: musb: start session in resume for host portBin Liu
Commit 17539f2f4f0b ("usb: musb: fix enumeration after resume") replaced musb_start() in musb_resume() to not override softconnect bit, but it doesn't restart the session for host port which was done in musb_start(). The session could be disabled in musb_suspend(), which leads the host port doesn't stay in host mode. So let's start the session specifically for host port in musb_resume(). 2020-05-25usb: musb: return -ESHUTDOWN in urb when three-strikes error happenedBin Liu
When a USB device attached to a hub got disconnected, MUSB controller generates RXCSR_RX_ERROR interrupt for the 3-strikes-out error. Currently the MUSB host driver returns -EPROTO in current URB, then the USB device driver could immediately resubmit the URB which causes MUSB generate RXCSR_RX_ERROR interrupt again. This circle causes interrupt storm then the hub never got a chance to report the USB device detach. To fix the interrupt storm, change the URB return code to -ESHUTDOWN for MUSB_RXCSR_H_ERROR interrupt, so that the USB device driver will not immediately resubmit the URB. This patch corrects the SPDX License Identifier style in header files related to USB Dual Role (OTG-ready) Controller Drivers. For C header files Documentation/process/license-rules.rst mandates C-like comments (opposed to C source files where C++ style should be used). 2020-03-17usb: musb: fix crash with highmen PIO and usbmonMans Rullgard
When handling a PIO bulk transfer with highmem buffer, a temporary mapping is assigned to urb->transfer_buffer. After the transfer is complete, an invalid address is left behind in this pointer. This is not ordinarily a problem since nothing touches that buffer before the urb is released. However, when usbmon is active, usbmon_urb_complete() calls (indirectly) mon_bin_get_data() which does access the transfer buffer if it is set. To prevent an invalid memory access here, reset urb->transfer_buffer to NULL when finished (musb_host_rx()), or do not set it at all (musb_host_tx()). 2020-03-04usb: roles: Provide the switch drivers handle to the switch in the APIHeikki Krogerus
The USB role callback functions had a parameter pointing to the parent device (struct device) of the switch. The assumption was that the switch parent is always the controller. Firstly, that may not be true in every case, and secondly, it prevents us from supporting devices that supply multiple muxes. Changing the first parameter of usb_role_switch_set_t and usb_role_switch_get_t from struct device to struct usb_role_switch. 2020-02-14USB: musb: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array memberGustavo A. R. Silva
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in C99: struct foo { int stuff; struct boo array[]; }; By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being inadvertenly introduced[3] to the codebase from now on. This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle. 2020-01-15usb: musb: davinci: Convert to use GPIO descriptorLinus Walleij
The DaVinci MUSB glue contains an optional GPIO line to control VBUS power, convert this to use a GPIO descriptor and augment the EVM board file to provide this descriptor. I can't get this driver to compile properly and it depends on broken but when I didn get it to compile brokenly, it did at least not complain about THIS code being broken so I don't think I broke the driver any more than what it already is. I did away with the ifdefs that do not work with multiplatform anyway so the day someone decides to resurrect the code, the path to get it working should be easier as well since DaVinci is now multiplatform.
