The lux_uscale value is not initialized at probe. The value will be

and buffer enabled for built in dummy driver.
This only occurs in the unlikely event that the example driver is built
in whilst the buffer implementation is not.
Solved by switching from a depends on to a select for this particular case.

In some circumstances, the performance of this driver is highly degraded,
and ifconfig reports large numbers of dropped packets. By increasing the
maximum RX gain from 0x3e to 0x4e, performance is greatly improved.

This warning results because the number of items in "enum rtw_c2h_event",

mips allmodconfig fails with
ERROR: "copy_from_user_page" [drivers/staging/lustre/lustre/libcfs/libcfs.ko]

which is due to LUSTRE using copy_from_user_page which is not exported by any
architecture. Unfortunately, LUSTRE can only be built as module, so there is no
easy fix.
MIPS, SH, and optionally XTENSA implement copy_from_user_page as unexported

This reverts commit c70bda992c12e593e411c02a52e4bd6985407539.
It's incorrect, Kay writes:
Please just remove it. "devname" is meant to be used for
single-instance devices with a static dev_t, never for things
like zramX.
It will not do anything useful here, it does nothing really
without a statically assigned dev_t, and it should not be used
for devices of this kind anyway.

Enable only those interrupts that we can handle & acknowledge in the

At least on EdgeRouter Lite, the hardware may occasionally interrupt with
some error condition when the physical link status changes frequently.
Since the interrupt condition is not acked properly, this leads to the
following warning and the IRQ gets disabled completely:

Convert the driver shrinkers to the new API. Most changes are compile
tested only because I either don't have the hardware or it's staging
stuff.
FWIW, the md and android code is pretty good, but the rest of it makes me
want to claw my eyes out. The amount of broken code I just encountered is
mind boggling. I've added comments explaining what is broken, but I fear
that some of the code would be best dealt with by being dragged behind the
bike shed, burying in mud up to it's neck and then run over repeatedly
with a blunt lawn mower.
Special mention goes to the zcache/zcache2 drivers. They can't co-exist
in the build at the same time, they are under different menu options in
menuconfig, they only show up when you've got the right set of mm
subsystem options configured and so even compile testing is an exercise in
pulling teeth. And that doesn't even take into account the horrible,
broken code...

1) sit.c changes overlap with change to ip_tunnel_xmit() signature.
2) br_multicast.c had an overlap between computing max_delay using
msecs_to_jiffies and turning MLDV2_MRC() into an inline function
with a name using lowercase instead of uppercase letters.
3) stmmac had two overlapping changes, one which conditionally allocated
and hooked up a dma_cfg based upon the presence of the pbl OF property,
and another one handling store-and-forward DMA made. The latter of
which should not go into the new of_find_property() basic block.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/linville/wireless-next
John W. Linville says:
====================
Please accept this batch of updates intended for the 3.12 stream.
For the mac80211 bits, Johannes says this:
"This time I have various improvements all over the place: IBSS, mesh,
testmode, AP client powersave handling, one of the rare rfkill patches
and some code cleanup."
Also for mac80211:
"And I also have some more changes for -next, just a few small fixes and
improvements, nothing really stands out."
And for iwlwifi:
"This time I have some powersave work (notably uAPSD support), CQM
offloads, support for a new firmware API and various code cleanups."
Regarding the Bluetooth bits, Gustavo says:
"Patches to 3.12, here we have:
* implementation of a proper tty_port for RFCOMM devices, this fixes some
issues people were seeing lately in the kernel.
* Add voice_setting option for SCO, it is used for SCO Codec selection
* bugfixes, small improvements and clean ups"
For the NFC bits, Samuel says:
"With this one we have:
- A few pn533 improvements and minor fixes. Testing our pn533 driver
against Google's NCI stack triggered a few issues that we fixed now.
We also added Tx fragmentation support to this driver.
- More NFC secure element handling. We added a GET_SE netlink command
for getting all the discovered secure elements, and we defined 2
additional secure element netlink event (transaction and connectivity).
We also fixed a couple of typos and copy-paste bugs from the secure
element handling code.
- Firmware download support for the pn544 driver. This chipset can enter a
special mode where it's waiting for firmware blobs to replace the
already flashed one. We now support that mode."
With repect to the ath tree, Kalle says:
"New features in ath10k are rx/tx checsumming in hw and survey scan
implemented by Michal. Also he made fixes to different areas of the
driver, most notable being fixing the case when using two streams and
reducing the number of interface combinations to avoid firmware crashes.
Bartosz did a clean related to how we handle SoC power save in PCI
layer.
For ath6kl Mohammed and Vasanth sent each a patch to fix two infrequent
crashes."
I also pulled the wireless tree into wireless-next to support a
request from Johannes. On top of all that, there are the usual
sort of driver updates. The mwifiex, brcmfmac, brcmsmac, ath9k,
and rt2x00 drivers all get some attention, as does the bcma bus and
a few other random bits here and there.

Some of the defaults were missing or unclear. In particular, I suspect
the defaults were documented assuming there were still module parameters
and taking the default module parameters into account. Now, the defaults
are the values that will get chosen when the params passed to
dwc2_hcd_init are all -1.

The HWCFG4 register stores the supported utmi width values (8, 16 or
both). This commit reads that value and validates the configured value
against that.
If no (valid) value is given, the parameter defaulted to 8 bits
previously. However, the documentation for dwc2_core_params_struct
suggests that the default should have been 16. Also, the pci bindings
explicitely set the value to 16, so this commit changes the default to
16 bits (if supported, 8 bits otherwise).
With the default changed, the value set in pci.c is changed to -1 to
make it autodetected as well.

Before, the hwcfg registers were read at device init time, but
interpreted at various parts in the code. This commit unpacks the hwcfg
register values into a struct with properly labeled variables at init
time, which makes all the other code using these values more consise and
easier to read. Some values that were previously stored in the hsotg
struct are now moved into this new struct as well.
In addition to the hwcfg registers, the contents of some fifo size
registers are also unpacked. The hwcfg registers are read-only, so they
can be safely stored. The fifo size registers are read-write registers,
but their power-on values are significant: they give the maximum depth
of the fifo they describe.
This commit mostly moves code, but also attempts to simplify some
expressions from (val >> shift) & (mask >> shift) to
(val & mask) >> shift.
Finally, all of the parameters read from the hardware are debug printed
after unpacking them, so a bunch of debug prints can be removed from
other places.

Bits 16-31 are reserved, so the old code just reads the whole register to
get bits 0-15, assuming the reserved bits would be 0 (which seems true
on current hardware, but who knows...).
This commit properly masks out the reserved bits when reading and
doesn't touch the reserved bits while writing.

For calculating FIFO offsets, the sizes of preceding fifos need to be
known. For filling the GDFIFOCFG register, these fifo sizes were read
from hardware registers. However, these values were written to these
registers just a few lines before, so we can just use the values written
instead.

The value of the hcchar register is built from individual values by
shifting and masking. Before, the debug output extracted the individual
values out of the complete hcchar register again by doing the reverse.
This commit makes the debug output use the original values instead.
One debug message got removed, since it would always print a fixed value
of zero.

This line extracted the available queue space without properly shifting
it. Since the code only cared wether it was zero or not, it worked as
expected without the shift, but adding shift makes the code cleaner.
While we're here, store the result in a helper variable that was already
declared to increase readability a bit more.
