2014-01-13iwlwifi: pcie: enable oscillator for L1 exitEmmanuel Grumbach
Enabling the oscillator consumes slightly more power (100uA) but allows to make sure that we exit from L1 on time. Not doing so might lead to a PCIe specification violation since we might wake up from L1 at the wrong time. This issue has been identified on 3160 and 7260 only. On older NICs L1 off is not enabled, on newer NICs (7265), the issue is fixed. When the bug occurs the user sees that the NIC has disappeared from the PCI bridge, any access to the device returns 0xff. In order to avoid NIC destruction due to high temperature, CT kill will power down the NIC. To avoid this, thermal throttling will decrease throughput to prevent the NIC from reaching the temperature at which CT kill is performed. 2012-10-16iwlwifi: wipe out the status of the SCD when we disable a queueEmmanuel Grumbach
When we disable a queue, we don't want the SCD to remember anything about this queue (what packet was transmitted but not acked, what packed was acked etc...). Wipe out all this data in its SRAM. 2012-04-24iwlwifi: fix hardware queue programmingJohannes Berg
Newer devices have 20 (5000 series) or 30 (6000 series) hardware queues, rather than the 16 that 4965 had. This was added to the driver a long time ago, but improperly: the queue registers for the higher queues aren't just continuations of the registers for the first 16 queues, they are in other places. Therefore, the hardware would lock up when trying to activate queue 16 or above and the device would have to be restarted. Thanks goes to Emmanuel who identified this and told me how the queue programming should be done. Note that we don't use queues 20 and higher today and doing so needs more work than this. PAN ucode will require a different queue assignment, in particular queue 9 instead of 4 should be used for commands. This is required because the ucode will stop/start queues 4 and 8 depending on the PAN state, since queue 8 will be used for PAN multicast (after DTIM). 2010-03-09iwlwifi: clean up queue/fifo handlingJohannes Berg
4965 hardware has 7 queues reserved and the remaining ones used for aggregation, 5000 and higher need to have 10 reserved. This is not very clear in the code right now, unfortunately. Introduce a new IWL_TX_FIFO_UNUSED constant and make the queue/FIFO mapping arrays able to hold that value, and change the setup code to reserve all queues in the arrays (the queue number is the index) and use the new unused constant to not map those queues to any FIFO. Additionally, clear up the AC/queue mapping code to be more understandable. The mapping is the identity mapping right now, but with the mapping function I think it's easier to understand what happens there. Finally, HCCA isn't implemented at all and I think newer microcode removed it, so let's remove all mention of it in the code, some comments remain for 4965. On 1000, there are two Switching Voltage Regulators (SVR). The first one apply digital voltage level (1.32V) for PCIe block and core. We need to use this regulator to solve a stability issue related to noisy DC2DC line in the silicon.
