2014-04-16net: mdio-gpio: Add support for separate MDI and MDO gpio pinsGuenter Roeck
This is for a system with fixed assignments of input and output pins (various variants of Kontron COMe). Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2014-04-16net: mdio-gpio: Add support for active low gpio pinsGuenter Roeck
Some systems using mdio-gpio may use active-low gpio pins (eg with inverters or FETs connected to all or some of the gpio pins). Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2014-04-16net: mdio-gpio: Use devm_ functions where possibleGuenter Roeck
This simplifies error path and deinit/removal functions. Signed-off-by: Guenter Roeck <linux@roeck-us.net> Tested-by: Chris Healy <cphealy@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2014-01-16drivers/net: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker
None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. This covers everything under drivers/net except for wireless, which has been submitted separately. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-08-30net: mdio-gpio: use dev_get_platdata()Jingoo Han
Use the wrapper function for retrieving the platform data instead of accessing dev->platform_data directly. This is a cosmetic change to make the code simpler and enhance the readability. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-03-20net: mdio-gpio: Use module_platform_driver()Sachin Kamat
module_platform_driver macro removes some boilerplate and simplifies the code. Signed-off-by: Sachin Kamat <sachin.kamat@linaro.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-12-07drivers/net: fix up function prototypes after __dev* removalsGreg Kroah-Hartman
The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of them back up to be properly aligned. Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice surprise. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-12-03net/phy: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. Signed-off-by: Bill Pemberton <wfp5p@virginia.edu> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2012-11-19of/net/mdio-gpio: Fix pdev->id issue when using devicetrees.Srinivas Kandagatla
When the mdio-gpio driver is probed via device trees, the platform device id is set as -1, However the pdev->id is re-used as bus-id for while creating mdio gpio bus. So For device tree case the mdio-gpio bus name appears as "gpio-ffffffff" where as for non-device tree case the bus name appears as "gpio-<bus-num>" Which means the bus_id is fixed in device tree case, so we can't have two mdio gpio buses via device trees. Assigning a logical bus number via device tree solves the problem and the bus name is much consistent with non-device tree bus name. Without this patch 1. we can't support two mdio-gpio buses via device trees. 2. we should always pass gpio-ffffffff as bus name to phy_connect, very different to non-device tree bus name. So, setting up the bus_id via aliases from device tree is the right solution and other drivers do similar thing. 2012-08-30of/mdio-gpio: Simplify the way device tree support is implemented.Srinivas Kandagatla
This patch cleans up the way device tree support is added in mdio-gpio driver. I found lot of code duplication which is not necessary. Also strangely a new platform driver was also introduced for device tree support. All this forced me to do this cleanup patch. After this patch, the driver probe checks the of_node pointer to get the data from device tree. Signed-off-by: Srinivas Kandagatla <srinivas.kandagatla@st.com> Signed-off-by: David S. 2011-11-15mdio-gpio: Add reset functionality to mdio-gpio driver(v2).Srinivas Kandagatla
This patch adds phy reset functionality to mdio-gpio driver. Now mdio_gpio_platform_data has new member as function pointer which can be filled at the bsp level for a callback from phy infrastructure. Also the mdio-bitbang driver fills-in the reset function of mii_bus structure. Without this patch the bsp level code has to takecare of the reseting PHY's on the bus, which become bit hacky for every bsp and phy-infrastructure is ignored aswell. 2011-10-24net: Fix driver name for mdio-gpio.cDirk Eibach
Since commit "7488876... dt/net: Eliminate users of of_platform_{,un}register_driver" there are two platform drivers named "mdio-gpio" registered. I renamed the of variant to "mdio-ofgpio". Signed-off-by: Dirk Eibach <eibach@gdsys.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2011-02-28dt/net: Eliminate users of of_platform_{,un}register_driverGrant Likely
Get rid of users of of_platform_driver in drivers/net. The of_platform_{,un}register_driver functions are going away, so the users need to be converted to using the platform_bus_type directly. Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca>
2010-08-06of/device: Replace struct of_device with struct platform_deviceGrant Likely
of_device is just an alias for platform_device, so remove it entirely. Also replace to_of_device() with to_platform_device() and update comment blocks. This patch was initially generated from the following semantic patch, and then edited by hand to pick up the bits that coccinelle didn't catch. @@ @@ -struct of_device +struct platform_device Signed-off-by: Grant Likely <grant.likely@secretlab.ca> Reviewed-by: David S. 2010-05-22of: Remove duplicate fields from of_platform_driverGrant Likely
.name, .match_table and .owner are duplicated in both of_platform_driver and device_driver. This patch is a removes the extra copies from struct of_platform_driver and converts all users to the device_driver members. This patch is a pretty mechanical change. The usage model doesn't change and if any drivers have been missed, or if anything has been fixed up incorrectly, then it will fail with a compile time error, and the fixup will be trivial. This patch looks big and scary because it touches so many files, but it should be pretty safe. 2010-05-18of: Always use 'struct device.of_node' to get device node pointer.Grant Likely
The following structure elements duplicate the information in 'struct device.of_node' and so are being eliminated. This patch makes all readers of these elements use device.of_node instead. 2009-11-17net: fix mdio section mismatch warningStephen Rothwell
This fixes the following warning: WARNING: drivers/net/phy/built-in.o(.devexit.text+0x70): Section mismatch in reference from the function .mdio_gpio_bus_destroy() to the function .devinit.text:.mdio_gpio_bus_deinit() The function __devexit .mdio_gpio_bus_destroy() references a function __devinit .mdio_gpio_bus_deinit(). This is often seen when error handling in the exit function uses functionality in the init path. The fix is often to remove the __devinit annotation of .mdio_gpio_bus_deinit() so it may be used outside an init section. 2009-10-14net: Fix OF platform drivers coldplug/hotplug when compiled as modulesAnton Vorontsov
Some OF platform drivers are missing module device tables, so they won't load automatically on boot. This patch fixes the issue by adding proper MODULE_DEVICE_TABLE() macros to the drivers. 2009-07-23net: Rework mdio-ofgpio driver to use of_mdio infrastructureMark Ware
Changes to the fs_enet driver aa73832c5a80d6c52c69b18af858d88fa595dd3c ("net: Rework fs_enet driver to use of_mdio infrastructure") cause kernel crashes when using the mdio-ofgpio driver. make mdio-gpio work with non OpenFirmware gpio implementation. Aditional changes to mdio-gpio: - use gpio_request() and gpio_free() - place irq[] array in struct mdio_gpio_info - add module description, author and license - add note about compiling this driver as module - rename mdc and mdio function (were ugly names) - change MII to MDIO in bus name - add __init __exit to module (un)loading functions - probe fails if no phys added to the bus - kzalloc bitbang with sizeof(*bitbang) Changes since v3: - keep bus naming "%x" to be compatible with existing drivers. Changes since v2: - more #ifdefs reduction - platform driver will be registered on OF platforms also - unified platform and OF bus_id to phy%i Changes since v1: - removed NO_IRQ - reduced #idefs Laurent, please test this driver under OF.
