2014-08-12PCI: Remove DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE macro useBenoit Taine
We should prefer `struct pci_device_id` over `DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE` to meet kernel coding style guidelines. This issue was reported by checkpatch. A simplified version of the semantic patch that makes this change is as follows (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/): // <smpl> @@ identifier i; declarer name DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE; initializer z; @@ - DEFINE_PCI_DEVICE_TABLE(i) + const struct pci_device_id i[] = z; // </smpl> [bhelgaas: add semantic patch] Signed-off-by: Benoit Taine <benoit.taine@lip6.fr> Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>
2014-05-13net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPSWilfried Klaebe
net: get rid of SET_ETHTOOL_OPS Dave Miller mentioned he'd like to see SET_ETHTOOL_OPS gone. This does that. Mostly done via coccinelle script: @@ struct ethtool_ops *ops; struct net_device *dev; @@ - SET_ETHTOOL_OPS(dev, ops); + dev->ethtool_ops = ops; Compile tested only, but I'd seriously wonder if this broke anything. 2014-01-16drivers/net: delete non-required instances of include <linux/init.h>Paul Gortmaker
None of these files are actually using any __init type directives and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to code getting copied from one driver to the next. This covers everything under drivers/net except for wireless, which has been submitted separately. Signed-off-by: Paul Gortmaker <paul.gortmaker@windriver.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-10-21net: icplus: remove unnecessary pci_set_drvdata()Jingoo Han
The driver core clears the driver data to NULL after device_release or on probe failure. Thus, it is not needed to manually clear the device driver data to NULL. Signed-off-by: Jingoo Han <jg1.han@samsung.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-09-05icplus: Use netif_running to determine device stateJon Mason
Remove the __LINK_STATE_START check to verify the device is running, in favor of netif_running(). netif_running() performs the same check of __LINK_STATE_START, so the code should behave the same. 2013-06-19net: Move MII out from under NET_CORE and hide itBen Hutchings
All drivers that select MII also need to select NET_CORE because MII depends on it. This is a bit ridiculous because NET_CORE is just a menu option that doesn't enable any code by itself. There is also no need for it to be a visible option, since its users all select it. 2013-05-24Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/netDavid S. Miller
Merge net into net-next because some upcoming net-next changes build on top of bug fixes that went into net. Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-05-22net/ethernet/icplus/ipg: Use module_pci_driver to register driverPeter Hüwe
Removing some boilerplate by using module_pci_driver instead of calling register and unregister in the otherwise empty init/exit functions. Signed-off-by: Peter Huewe <peterhuewe@gmx.de> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2013-05-15ipg: fix an unsigned widening cast of '~' truncation issueDan Carpenter
The bug here is this code from ipg_nic_hard_start_xmit(): txfd->tfc &= cpu_to_le64(~IPG_TFC_TFDDONE); IPG_TFC_TFDDONE is 0x0000000080000000 so it's an unsigned int. The negated value is 0x7fffffff but 0xffffffff7fffffff was intended. The other values in this file don't need to be changed but I did it for consistency. 2013-01-22drivers/net/ethernet/icplus: remove depends on CONFIG_EXPERIMENTALKees Cook
The CONFIG_EXPERIMENTAL config item has not carried much meaning for a while now and is almost always enabled by default. As agreed during the Linux kernel summit, remove it from any "depends on" lines in Kconfigs. Acked-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net> Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org>
2012-12-07drivers/net: fix up function prototypes after __dev* removalsGreg Kroah-Hartman
The __dev* removal patches for the network drivers ended up messing up the function prototypes for a bunch of drivers. This patch fixes all of them back up to be properly aligned. Bonus is that this almost removes 100 lines of code, always a nice surprise. Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2012-12-03icplus: remove __dev* attributesBill Pemberton
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As result the __dev* markings will be going away. Remove use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit. 2011-12-01icplus: mdio_write(), remove unnecessary for loopPatrick Kelle
At this point the variable j is always set to 7 and the code within the loop has to run only once anyway. As suggested by David Miller: "You can simply this even further since p[7] is what is used here, and this means len is one, the inner loop therefore executes only once, and the p[7].field value is not used (it's zero in the table) and the write to it is completely thrown away." 2011-09-15MII: fix Kconfig dependencies for MIIJeff Kirsher
MII Kconfig option is apart of the core networking drivers and by default NET_CORE is enabled so drivers selecting MII will have MII enabled as well. It was found using the randconfig option during testing, MII would be selected but NET_CORE could be disabled. This caused a dependency error. Resolved the dependency by selecting NET_CORE when MII is selected.
