* 'for-linus' of git://repo.or.cz/cris-mirror: CRIS: Cleanup linker script using new linker script macros. ARRAY_SIZE changes CRIS: convert to asm-generic/hardirq.h CRISv10: Don't autonegotiate if autonegotiation is off CRIS: fix defconfig build failure CRIS: add pgprot_noncached
2009-08-31CRISv10: Don't autonegotiate if autonegotiation is offJesper Nilsson
If autonegotiation was disabled, we still set the BMCR_ANENABLE and BMCR_ANRESTART, which resulted in autonegotiation never being disabled. Signed-off-by: Jesper Nilsson <jesper.nilsson@axis.com> Reported-by: Julia Lawall <julia@diku.dk>
2009-07-05net: use NETDEV_TX_OK instead of 0 in ndo_start_xmit() functionsPatrick McHardy
This patch is the result of an automatic spatch transformation to convert all ndo_start_xmit() return values of 0 to NETDEV_TX_OK. Some occurences are missed by the automatic conversion, those will be handled in a seperate patch. Signed-off-by: Patrick McHardy <kaber@trash.net> Signed-off-by: David S. 2008-10-27net: convert print_mac to %pMJohannes Berg
This converts pretty much everything to print_mac. There were a few things that had conflicts which I have just dropped for now, no harm done. I've built an allyesconfig with this and looked at the files that weren't built very carefully, but it's a huge patch. Signed-off-by: Johannes Berg <johannes@sipsolutions.net> Signed-off-by: David S. 2007-11-14cris build fixes: update eth_v10.c ethernet driverJesper Nilsson
New (updated) version of ethernet driver for cris v10. - First steps to simplify and make the MII code more similar between the etrax100 and etraxfs ports. - Start the transmit queue before enabling tx interrupts to avoid race with the first frame. - Flip the comparition statement to stick to physical addresses to avoid phys_to_virt mapping a potential null pointer. This was not an error but the change simplifies debugging of address-space mappings. - Made myPrevRxDesc local to e100_rx since it was only used there. Fixed out of memory handling in e100_rx. If dev_alloc_skb() fails persistently the system is hosed anyway but at least it won't loop in an interrupt handler. - Correct some code formatting issues. - Add defines SET_ETH_ENABLE_LEDS, SET_ETH_DISABLE_LEDS and SET_ETH_AUTONEG used in new cris v10 ethernet driver. 2007-04-25[SK_BUFF]: Convert skb->end to sk_buff_data_tArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
Now to convert the last one, skb->data, that will allow many simplifications and removal of some of the offset helpers. Signed-off-by: Arnaldo Carvalho de Melo <acme@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. Miller <davem@davemloft.net>
2007-04-25[SK_BUFF]: Convert skb->tail to sk_buff_data_tArnaldo Carvalho de Melo
So that it is also an offset from skb->head, reduces its size from 8 to 4 bytes on 64bit architectures, allowing us to combine the 4 bytes hole left by the layer headers conversion, reducing struct sk_buff size to 256 bytes, i.e. 4 64byte cachelines, and since the sk_buff slab cache is SLAB_HWCACHE_ALIGN... :-) Many calculations that previously required that skb->{transport,network, mac}_header be first converted to a pointer now can be done directly, being meaningful as offsets or pointers. 2007-04-25[ETH]: Make eth_type_trans set skb->dev like the other *_type_transArnaldo Carvalho de Melo

2007-02-14[PATCH] remove many unneeded #includes of sched.hTim Schmielau
After Al Viro (finally) succeeded in removing the sched.h #include in module.h recently, it makes sense again to remove other superfluous sched.h includes. There are quite a lot of files which include it but don't actually need anything defined in there. Presumably these includes were once needed for macros that used to live in sched.h, but moved to other header files in the course of cleaning it up. To ease the pain, this time I did not fiddle with any header files and only removed #includes from .c-files, which tend to cause less trouble. Compile tested against 2.6.20-rc2 and 2.6.20-rc2-mm2 (with offsets) on alpha, arm, i386, ia64, mips, powerpc, and x86_64 with allnoconfig, defconfig, allmodconfig, and allyesconfig as well as a few randconfigs on x86_64 and all configs in arch/arm/configs on arm. I also checked that no new warnings were introduced by the patch (actually, some warnings are removed that were emitted by unnecessarily included header files). 2006-11-10[PATCH] drivers cris: return on NULL dev_alloc_skb()David Rientjes
If the next descriptor array entry cannot be allocated by dev_alloc_skb(), return immediately so it is not dereferenced later. We cannot register the device with a partial descriptor list. 2006-10-05IRQ: Maintain regs pointer globally rather than passing to IRQ handlersDavid Howells
Maintain a per-CPU global "struct pt_regs *" variable which can be used instead of passing regs around manually through all ~1800 interrupt handlers in the Linux kernel. The regs pointer is used in few places, but it potentially costs both stack space and code to pass it around. On the FRV arch, removing the regs parameter from all the genirq function results in a 20% speed up of the IRQ exit path (ie: from leaving timer_interrupt() to leaving do_IRQ()). Where appropriate, an arch may override the generic storage facility and do something different with the variable. On FRV, for instance, the address is maintained in GR28 at all times inside the kernel as part of general exception handling. Having looked over the code, it appears that the parameter may be handed down through up to twenty or so layers of functions. Consider a USB character device attached to a USB hub, attached to a USB controller that posts its interrupts through a cascaded auxiliary interrupt controller. A character device driver may want to pass regs to the sysrq handler through the input layer which adds another few layers of parameter passing. I've build this code with allyesconfig for x86_64 and i386. I've runtested the main part of the code on FRV and i386, though I can't test most of the drivers. I've also done partial conversion for powerpc and MIPS - these at least compile with minimal configurations. This will affect all archs. Mostly the changes should be relatively easy. Take do_IRQ(), store the regs pointer at the beginning, saving the old one: struct pt_regs *old_regs = set_irq_regs(regs); And put the old one back at the end: set_irq_regs(old_regs); Don't pass regs through to generic_handle_irq() or __do_IRQ(). In timer_interrupt(), this sort of change will be necessary: - update_process_times(user_mode(regs)); - profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING, regs); + update_process_times(user_mode(get_irq_regs())); + profile_tick(CPU_PROFILING); I'd like to move update_process_times()'s use of get_irq_regs() into itself, except that i386, alone of the archs, uses something other than user_mode(). Some notes on the interrupt handling in the drivers: (*) input_dev() is now gone entirely. The regs pointer is no longer stored in the input_dev struct. (*) finish_unlinks() in drivers/usb/host/ohci-q.c needs checking. It does something different depending on whether it's been supplied with a regs pointer or not. (*) Various IRQ handler function pointers have been moved to type irq_handler_t. Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
