Variable retval is initialized to a value that is never read
so this assignment is redundant. Clean up the code by removing
retval completely and just return the error return from the
call to i2c_add_adapter.

Add hdpvr device num check and error handling
We need to increment the device count atomically before we checkout a
device to make sure that we do not reach the max count, otherwise we get
out-of-bounds errors as reported by syzbot.

The V4L2 core sets the description for the driver in order to ensure
consistent naming.
So drop the strscpy of the description in drivers. Also remove any
description strings in driver-internal structures since those are
no longer needed.

This driver has three locking issues:
- The wait_event_interruptible() condition calls hdpvr_get_next_buffer(dev)
which uses a mutex, which is not allowed. Rewrite with list_empty_careful()
that doesn't need locking.
- In hdpvr_read() the call to hdpvr_stop_streaming() didn't lock io_mutex,
but it should have since stop_streaming expects that.
- In hdpvr_device_release() io_mutex was locked when calling flush_work(),
but there it shouldn't take that mutex since the work done by flush_work()
also wants to lock that mutex.
There are also two other changes (suggested by Keith):
- msecs_to_jiffies(4000); (a NOP) should have been msleep(4000).
- Change v4l2_dbg to v4l2_info to always log if streaming had to be restarted.

Instead of filling in the struct v4l2_capability device_caps
field, fill in the struct video_device device_caps field.
That way the V4L2 core knows what the capabilities of the
video device are.
But this only really works if all drivers use this, so convert
all usb drivers in this patch.

The strncpy() function is being deprecated upstream. Replace
it by the safer strscpy().
While here, replace a few occurences of strlcpy() that were
recently added to also use strscpy().

dev->i2c_buf is a char array, so you can just use dev->i2c_buf to get the
start address, no need to do &dev->i2c_buf, even though it is the same
address in C. It only confuses smatch.

The next patch from Al will sort out the final differences, and we
should be all done.

These two devices ids are really just one device with multiple
addresses. Probing becomes much simpler if we simply fold this into
one i2c device with two address.
Note that this breaks the lirc_zilog driver, however we will teach
ir-kbd-i2c to do what lirc_zilog does in a later commit.

Here, hdpvr_register_videodev() is responsible for setup and
register a video device. Also defining and initializing a worker.
hdpvr_register_videodev() is calling by hdpvr_probe at last.
So no need to flush any work here.
Unregister v4l2, free buffers and memory. If hdpvr_probe() will fail.

usb_device_id are not supposed to change at runtime. All functions
working with usb_device_id provided by <linux/usb.h> work with
const usb_device_id. So mark the non-const structs as const.

This is a reworking of a patch originally submitted by Ryley Angus,
modified by Hans Verkuil and then seemingly forgotten before changes
suggested by Keith Pyle here:

I have implemented the suggested changes and have been testing for the
last 2 months. I am no longer experiencing lockups while recording
(with blue light on, requiring power cycling) which had been a long
standing problem with the HD-PVR. I have not noticed any other problems
since applying the patch.

Due to the 80-cols restrictions, and latter due to checkpatch
warnings, several strings were broken into multiple lines. This
is not considered a good practice anymore, as it makes harder
to grep for strings at the source code.
As we're right now fixing other drivers due to KERN_CONT, we need
to be able to identify what printk strings don't end with a "\n".
It is a way easier to detect those if we don't break long lines.
So, join those continuation lines.

Kernel source files need not include <linux/kconfig.h> explicitly
because the top Makefile forces to include it with:
-include $(srctree)/include/linux/kconfig.h
This commit removes explicit includes except the following:

The workqueue "workqueue" is involved in transmitting hdpvr buffers.
It has a single work item(&dev->worker) and hence doesn't require
ordering. Also, it is not being used on a memory reclaim path. Hence,
the singlethreaded workqueue has been replaced with the use of system_wq.
System workqueues have been able to handle high level of concurrency
for a long time now and hence it's not required to have a singlethreaded
workqueue just to gain concurrency. Unlike a dedicated per-cpu workqueue
created with create_singlethread_workqueue(), system_wq allows multiple
work items to overlap executions even on the same CPU; however, a
per-cpu workqueue doesn't have any CPU locality or global ordering
guarantee unless the target CPU is explicitly specified and thus the
increase of local concurrency shouldn't make any difference.
Work item has been flushed in hdpvr_device_release() to ensure
that there are no pending tasks while disconnecting the driver.

The i2c client pointer is only used when CONFIG_I2C is set, and
otherwise produces a compile-time warning:

Add the new match_reduced_fps argument to v4l2_match_dv_timings().
Depending on the situation you may or may not desire to match the
reduced_fps flag. Typically only HDMI transmitters will need to
check for this flag.

Currently, include/media is messy, as it contains both the V4L2 core
headers and some driver-specific headers on the same place. That makes
harder to identify what core headers should be documented and what
headers belong to I2C drivers that are included only by bridge/main
drivers that would require the functions provided by them.
Let's move those i2c specific files to its own subdirectory.
The files to move were produced via the following script:

There is no need to use hex_dump_to_buffer() since we have a kernel helper to
dump up to 64 bytes just via printk().

The v4l2_pix_format structure has no reserved field. It is embedded in
the v4l2_framebuffer structure which has no reserved fields either, and
in the v4l2_format structure which has reserved fields that were not
previously required to be zeroed out by applications.
To allow extending v4l2_pix_format, inline it in the v4l2_framebuffer
structure, and use the priv field as a magic value to indicate that the
application has set all v4l2_pix_format extended fields and zeroed all
reserved fields following the v4l2_pix_format field in the v4l2_format
structure.
The availability of this API extension is reported to userspace through
the new V4L2_CAP_EXT_PIX_FORMAT capability flag. Just checking that the
priv field is still set to the magic value at [GS]_FMT return wouldn't
be enough, as older kernels don't zero the priv field on return.
To simplify the internal API towards drivers zero the extended fields
and set the priv field to the magic value for applications not aware of
the extensions.

priority checking, the setting of the flag in the drivers can
be removed.
