2020-12-15drm: automatic legacy gamma supportTomi Valkeinen
To support legacy gamma ioctls the drivers need to set drm_crtc_funcs.gamma_set either to a custom implementation or to drm_atomic_helper_legacy_gamma_set. Most of the atomic drivers do the latter. We can simplify this by making the core handle it automatically. Move the drm_atomic_helper_legacy_gamma_set() functionality into drm_color_mgmt.c to make drm_mode_gamma_set_ioctl() use drm_crtc_funcs.gamma_set if set or GAMMA_LUT property if not. 2020-11-06drm/<drivers>: Constify struct drm_driverDaniel Vetter
Only the following drivers aren't converted: - amdgpu, because of the driver_feature mangling due to virt support. Subsequent patch will address this. - nouveau, because DRIVER_ATOMIC uapi is still not the default on the platforms where it's supported (i.e. again driver_feature mangling) - vc4, again because of driver_feature mangling - qxl, because the ioctl table is somewhere else and moving that is maybe a bit too much, hence the num_ioctls assignment prevents a const driver structure. - arcpgu, because that is stuck behind a pending tiny-fication series from me. - legacy drivers, because legacy requires non-const drm_driver. Note that for armada I also went ahead and made the ioctl array const. 2020-11-02drm/atomic: Pass the full state to CRTC atomic begin and flushMaxime Ripard
The current atomic helpers have either their object state being passed as an argument or the full atomic state. The former is the pattern that was done at first, before switching to the latter for new hooks or when it was needed. Let's start convert all the remaining helpers to provide a consistent interface, starting with the CRTC's atomic_begin and atomic_flush. 2020-10-09drm/atomic: Pass the full state to CRTC atomic enable/disableMaxime Ripard
If the CRTC driver ever needs to access the full DRM state, it can't do so at atomic_enable / atomic_disable time since drm_atomic_helper_swap_state will have cleared the pointer from the struct drm_crtc_state to the struct drm_atomic_state before calling those hooks. In order to allow that, let's pass the full DRM state to atomic_enable and atomic_disable. Add missing pm_runtime_get_sync() into ltdc_crtc_atomic_enable() to match pm_runtime_put_sync() in ltdc_crtc_atomic_disable(), otherwise the LTDC might suspend via runtime PM, disable clock, and then fail to resume later on. The test which triggers it is roughly -- run qt5 application which uses eglfs platform and etnaviv, stop the application, sleep for 15 minutes, run the application again. This leads to a timeout waiting for vsync, because the LTDC has suspended, but did not resume. 2020-02-26drm/bridge: Extend bridge API to disable connector creationLaurent Pinchart
Most bridge drivers create a DRM connector to model the connector at the output of the bridge. This model is historical and has worked pretty well so far, but causes several issues: - It prevents supporting more complex display pipelines where DRM connector operations are split over multiple components. For instance a pipeline with a bridge connected to the DDC signals to read EDID data, and another one connected to the HPD signal to detect connection and disconnection, will not be possible to support through this model. - It requires every bridge driver to implement similar connector handling code, resulting in code duplication. - It assumes that a bridge will either be wired to a connector or to another bridge, but doesn't support bridges that can be used in both positions very well (although there is some ad-hoc support for this in the analogix_dp bridge driver). In order to solve these issues, ownership of the connector should be moved to the display controller driver (where it can be implemented using helpers provided by the core). Extend the bridge API to allow disabling connector creation in bridge drivers as a first step towards the new model. The new flags argument to the bridge .attach() operation allows instructing the bridge driver to skip creating a connector. Unconditionally set the new flags argument to 0 for now to keep the existing behaviour, and modify all existing bridge drivers to return an error when connector creation is not requested as they don't support this feature yet. The timing values for dw-dsi are often dependent on the used display and according to Philippe Cornu will most likely also depend on the used phy technology in the soc-specific implementation. To solve this and allow specific implementations to define them as needed add a new get_timing callback to phy_ops and call this from the dphy_timing function to retrieve the necessary values for the specific mode. 2019-09-08drm/bridge: panel: Infer connector type from panel by defaultLaurent Pinchart
The drm panel bridge creates a connector using a connector type explicitly passed by the display controller or bridge driver that instantiates the panel bridge. Now that drm_panel reports its connector type, we can use it to avoid passing an explicit (and often incorrect) connector type to drm_panel_bridge_add() and devm_drm_panel_bridge_add(). Several drivers report incorrect or unknown connector types to userspace. Reporting a different type may result in a breakage. For that reason, rename (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() to (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add_typed(), and add new (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() functions that use the panel connector type. Update all callers of (devm_)drm_panel_bridge_add() to the _typed function, they will be converted one by one after testing. 2019-05-20drm/fourcc: Pass the format_info pointer to drm_format_plane_cppMaxime Ripard
So far, the drm_format_plane_cpp function was operating on the format's fourcc and was doing a lookup to retrieve the drm_format_info structure and return the cpp. However, this is inefficient since in most cases, we will have the drm_format_info pointer already available so we shouldn't have to perform a new lookup. Some drm_fourcc functions also already operate on the drm_format_info pointer for that reason, so the API is quite inconsistent there. Let's follow the latter pattern and remove the extra lookup while being a bit more consistent. In order to be extra consistent, also rename that function to drm_format_info_plane_cpp and to a static function in the header to match the current policy. The DRM_STM driver can be built independently of the framebuffer layer, but it causes a Kconfig warning: WARNING: unmet direct dependencies detected for FB_PROVIDE_GET_FB_UNMAPPED_AREA Depends on [n]: HAS_IOMEM [=y] && FB [=n] Selected by [y]: - DRM_STM [=y] && HAS_IOMEM [=y] && DRM [=y] && (ARCH_STM32 [=n] || ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM [=y]) Selecting FB_PROVIDE_GET_FB_UNMAPPED_AREA actually has no effect if CONFIG_FB is disabled, so we can make it a conditional 'select' instead.
