git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux into drm-next
Backmerge the drm-fixes pull from Linus's tree into drm-next.
This is to fix some conflicts and make future pulls cleaner
|
|
This continues the pattern started in commit cc1ef118fc09 ("drm/irq:
Make pipe unsigned and name consistent"). This is applied to the public
APIs and driver callbacks, so pretty much all drivers need to be updated
to match the new prototypes.

linedur_ns, and especially pixeldur_ns are becoming rather inaccurate
to be used for the vblank timestamp correction. With 4k@60 the pixel
duration is already below 2ns, so the amount of error due to the
truncation to nanoseconds is introducing quite a bit of error.
We can avoid such problems if we instead calculate the timestamp
delta_ns directly from the dislay timings, avoiding the use of
these intermediate truncated values.

1. Always assign audio function pointers even if the display does
not support audio. We need to properly disable the audio stream
when when using a non-audio capable monitor. Fixes purple line
on some hdmi monitors.
2. Check if a pin is in use by another encoder before disabling
it.
v2: make sure we've fetched the edid before checking audio and
look up the encoder before calling audio_detect since
connector->encoder may not be assigned yet. Separate
pin and afmt. They are allocated at different times and
have no dependency on eachother.

Take a GEM reference for and pin the new cursor BO, unpin and drop the
GEM reference for the old cursor BO in radeon_crtc_cursor_set2, and use
radeon_crtc->cursor_addr in radeon_set_cursor.
This fixes radeon_cursor_reset accidentally incrementing the cursor BO
pin count, and cleans up the code a little.

The atombios tables have an unfortunate restriction on only
being able to write 12 bytes, MST really wants 16-bytes here,
and since the hw can do it, we should just write directly to it.
This uses a module option to allow for it now, and maybe
we should provide the old code as a fallback for a while.

This adds the drm property for output csc (e.g.,
transform of output display colorspace). Currently
only common ones (TV RGB, BT.601, BT.709) are supported,
but bypass and tv rgb are really the only useful ones at
the moment. Additionally we could expose a user adjustable
matrix in the future.
This commit just adds the property. The hw support will
be added in subsequent patches.

The cursor_set2 hook provides the cursor hotspot position within the
cursor image. When the hotspot position changes, we can adjust the cursor
position such that the hotspot doesn't move on the screen. This prevents
the cursor from appearing to intermittently jump around on the screen

Here's the vblank timestamp pull request you wanted.
I addressed the few bugs that Mario pointed out and added
the r-bs.
As it has been a while since I made the changes, I gave it a
