Pull drm updates from Dave Airlie:
"This is the main drm pull request for v4.11.
Nothing too major, the tinydrm and mmu-less support should make
writing smaller drivers easier for some of the simpler platforms, and
there are a bunch of documentation updates.
Intel grew displayport MST audio support which is hopefully useful to
people, and FBC is on by default for GEN9+ (so people know where to
look for regressions). AMDGPU has a lot of fixes that would like new
firmware files installed for some GPUs.
Other than that it's pretty scattered all over.
I may have a follow up pull request as I know BenH has a bunch of AST
rework and fixes and I'd like to get those in once they've been tested
by AST, and I've got at least one pull request I'm just trying to get
the author to fix up.

Following a reset, the context and page directory registers are lost.
However, the queue of requests that we resubmit after the reset may
depend upon them - the registers are restored from a context image, but
that restore may be inhibited and may simply be absent from the request
if it was in the middle of a sequence using the same context. If we
prime the CCID/PD registers with the first request in the queue (even
for the hung request), we prevent invalid memory access for the
following requests (and continually hung engines).

v4: Add a wait for PD_BASE fetch. The reload appears to be instant on my
Ivybridge, but this bit probably exists for a reason.

The audio chicken bit (register offset 0x62f38) seems required to make
DP audio working on some machines. At least, on Dell Wyse 3040, I
failed to get the audio unless this bit is set once.
Strangely, the bit seems necessary only once, and it persists after
that, even some power-off cycles. The register is supposedly
write-only, so it's no evidence whether the bit keeps effect
persistently. But, judging from the experiment, it looks enough to
set it up once at the device initialization.
The patch is basically a cut from the original patch by Pierre-Louis
Bossart.

Enable unmute/mute amp notification. This doesn't seem to affect
HDMI support so this is done unconditionally.
An earlier version of this patch set a chicken bit at address 0x62F38
prior to the mute/unmute but this register doesn't seem to do anything
so this phase was removed.

Enable support for HDMI LPE audio mode on Baytrail and
Cherrytrail when HDaudio controller is not detected
Setup minimum required resources during i915_driver_load:
1. Create a platform device to share MMIO/IRQ resources
2. Make the platform device child of i915 device for runtime PM.
3. Create IRQ chip to forward HDMI LPE audio irqs.
HDMI LPE audio driver (a standalone sound driver) probes the
LPE audio device and creates a new sound card.

Reports live state of PSR2 form PSR2_STATUS register.
bit field 31:28 gives the live state of PSR2.
It can be used to check if system is in deep sleep,
selective update or selective update standby.
During video play back, we can use this to check
if system is entering SU mode or not.
when system is in idle state, DEEP_SLEEP(8) must be entered.
When video playback is happening, system must be in
SLEEP(3 / selective update) or SU_STANDBY( 6 / selective update standby)

Program EDP_PSR_DEBUG_CTL (PSR_MASK) to enable system
to go to deep sleep while in psr2.PSR2_STATUS bit 31:28
should report value 8 , if system enters deep sleep state.
Also, EDP_FRAMES_BEFORE_SU_ENTRY is set 1 , if not set,
flickering is observed on psr2 panel.

Psr1 and psr2 are mutually exclusive,ie when psr2 is enabled,
psr1 should be disabled.When psr2 is exited , bit 31 of reg
PSR2_CTL must be set to 0 but currently bit 31 of SRD_CTL
(psr1 control register)is set to 0.
Also ,PSR2_IDLE state is looked up from SRD_STATUS(psr1 register)
instead of PSR2_STATUS register, which has wrong data, resulting
in blankscreen.
hsw_enable_source is split into hsw_enable_source_psr1 and
hsw_enable_source_psr2 for easier code review and maintenance,
as suggested by rodrigo and jim.

BSpec says:
"Overlay Clock Gating Must be Disabled: Overlay & L2 Cache clock gating
must be disabled in order to prevent device hangs when turning off overlay.SW
must turn off Ovrunit clock gating (6200h) and L2 Cache clock gating (C8h)."
We only turned off the overlay clock gating (due to lack of docs I
presume). After a bit of experimentation it looks like the the magic
C8h register lives in the PCI config space of device 0, and the magic
bit appears to be bit 2. Or at the very least this eliminates the GPU
death after MI_OVERLAY_OFF.
L2 clock gating seems to save ~80mW, so let's keep it on unless we need
to actually use the overlay.
Also let's move the OVRUNIT clock gating to the same place since we can,
and 845 supposedly doesn't need it.

Geminilake is mostly backwards compatible with broxton, so change most
of the IS_BROXTON() checks to IS_GEN9_LP(). Differences between the
platforms will be implemented in follow-up patches.

Doing cmd_header >> 29 to extract our 3-bit client value where we know
cmd_header is a u32 shouldn't then also require the use of a mask. So
remove the redundant operation and get rid of INSTR_CLIENT_MASK now that
there are no longer any users.

Gen graphics hardware can be set up to periodically write snapshots of
performance counters into a circular buffer via its Observation
Architecture and this patch exposes that capability to userspace via the
i915 perf interface.

relying on _pin_notify hook, in case ctx already pinned.

Decoupled MMIO is an alternative way to access forcewake domain
registers, which requires less cycles for a single read/write and
avoids frequent software forcewake.
This certainly gives advantage over the forcewake as this new
mechanism “decouples” CPU cycles and allow them to complete even
when GT is in a CPD (frequency change) or C6 state.
This can co-exist with forcewake and we will continue to use forcewake
as appropriate. E.g. 64-bit register writes to avoid writing 2 dwords
separately and land into funny situations.

Information about which phy is dual channel is hardcoded in the phy init
sequence. Split that to a separate struct so the init sequence is more
generic.

When modeset occurs and the LS_CLK is set to some special values in DP
mode, the N/M need to be set manually if audio is playing. Otherwise the
first several seconds may be silent in audio playback.
The relationship of Maud and Naud is expressed in the following
equation:
Maud/Naud = 512 * fs / f_LS_Clk
Please refer VESA DisplayPort Standard spec for details.

There are certain types of interrupts which Host can receive from GuC.
GuC ukernel sends an interrupt to Host for certain events, like for
example retrieve/consume the logs generated by ukernel.
This patch adds support to receive interrupts from GuC but currently
enables & partially handles only the interrupt sent by GuC ukernel.
Future patches will add support for handling other interrupt types.

Since both legacy and execlists want to populate the RING_CTL register,
share the computation of the right bits for the ring->size. We can then
stop masking errors and explicitly forbid them during creation!

Since the watermark calculations for Skylake are still broken, we're apt
to hitting underruns very easily under multi-monitor configurations.
While it would be lovely if this was fixed, it's not. Another problem
that's been coming from this however, is the mysterious issue of
underruns causing full system hangs. An easy way to reproduce this with
a skylake system:
- Get a laptop with a skylake GPU, and hook up two external monitors to
it
- Move the cursor from the built-in LCD to one of the external displays
as quickly as you can
- You'll get a few pipe underruns, and eventually the entire system will
just freeze.
After doing a lot of investigation and reading through the bspec, I
found the existence of the SAGV, which is responsible for adjusting the
system agent voltage and clock frequencies depending on how much power
we need. According to the bspec:
"The display engine access to system memory is blocked during the
adjustment time. SAGV defaults to enabled. Software must use the
GT-driver pcode mailbox to disable SAGV when the display engine is not
able to tolerate the blocking time."
The rest of the bspec goes on to explain that software can simply leave
the SAGV enabled, and disable it when we use interlaced pipes/have more
then one pipe active.
Sure enough, with this patchset the system hangs resulting from pipe
underruns on Skylake have completely vanished on my T460s. Additionally,
the bspec mentions turning off the SAGV with more then one pipe enabled
as a workaround for display underruns. While this patch doesn't entirely
fix that, it looks like it does improve the situation a little bit so
it's likely this is going to be required to make watermarks on Skylake
fully functional.
This will still need additional work in the future: we shouldn't be
enabling the SAGV if any of the currently enabled planes can't enable WM
levels that introduce latencies >= 30 µs.

watermarks >= the SAGV engine block time. I was originally going to
save this for later, but I recently managed to run into a machine
that was having problems with a single pipe configuration + SAGV.

- Change I915_SAGV_DYNAMIC_FREQ to I915_SAGV_ENABLE
- Move printks outside of mutexes
- Don't print error messages twice

- Apparently sandybridge_pcode_read actually writes values and reads
them back, despite it's misleading function name. This means we've
been doing this mostly wrong and have been writing garbage to the
SAGV control. Because of this, we no longer attempt to read the SAGV
status during initialization (since there are no helpers for this).
- mlankhorst noticed that this patch was breaking on some very early
pre-release Skylake machines, which apparently don't allow you to
disable the SAGV. To prevent machines from failing tests due to SAGV
errors, if the first time we try to control the SAGV results in the
mailbox indicating an invalid command, we just disable future attempts
to control the SAGV state by setting dev_priv->skl_sagv_status to
I915_SKL_SAGV_NOT_CONTROLLED and make a note of it in dmesg.
- Move mutex_unlock() a little higher in skl_enable_sagv(). This
doesn't actually fix anything, but lets us release the lock a little
sooner since we're finished with it.

In order to add proper support for the SAGV, we need to be able to know
what the cause of a failure to change the SAGV through the pcode mailbox
was. The reasoning for this is that some very early pre-release Skylake
machines don't actually allow you to control the SAGV on them, and
indicate an invalid mailbox command was sent.
This also might come in handy in the future for debugging.

Atm the LVDS encoder depends on the PPS HW context being saved/restored
from generic suspend/resume code. Since the PPS is specific to the LVDS
and eDP encoders a cleaner way is to reinitialize it during encoder
enabling, so do this here for LVDS. Follow-up patches will init the PPS
for the eDP encoder similarly and remove the suspend/resume time save /
restore.

The PPS registers are pretty much the same everywhere, the differences
being:
- Register fields appearing, disappearing from one platform to the
next: panel-reset-on-powerdown, backlight-on, panel-port,
register-unlock
- Different register base addresses
- Different number of PPS instances: 2 on VLV/CHV/BXT, 1 everywhere
else.
We can merge the separate set of PPS definitions by extending the PPS
instance argument to all platforms and using instance 0 on platforms
with a single instance. This means we'll need to calculate the register
addresses dynamically based on the given platform and PPS instance.

Since commit de1add360522 ("drm/i915: Decouple execbuf uAPI from internal
implementation") the index of the engine (its engine->id) in the
internal list no longer matches the hardware id. However, in a couple of
locations we missed fixing up the difference. In this case,
RING_FAULT_REG() refers to engine->id which is now not what the register
offset actually should be. Fortunately, in both case we should be more
or less looping over 0..I915_NUM_ENGINES.

"For DDIA with x4 capability (DDI_BUF_CTL DDIA Lane Capability Control =
DDIA x4), the I_boost value has to be programmed in both
tx_blnclegsctl_0 and tx_blnclegsctl_4."
Currently we only program tx_blnclegsctl_0. Let's do the other one as

'ring' is an old deprecated term for a GPU engine. Here we make the
terminology more consistent by renaming the 'ring' parameter of lots of
macros that calculate addresses within the MMIO space of an engine.

Add WaDisableGatherAtSetShaderCommonSlice for all gen9 as stated
by bspec. The bspec told to put this workaround to the per ctx bb.
Initial implementation and subsequent review were done based on
bspec. Arun raised a suspicion that this would belong to indirect bb
instead and he conducted more throughout investigation on the matter
and indeed the documentation was wrong.

BXT BIOS has two options related to GPU power management: "RC6(Render
Standby)" and "GT PM Support". The assumption so far was that disabling
either of these options would leave RC6 uninitialized. According to my
tests this isn't so: for a proper RC6 setup we only need the "GT PM
Support" option to be enabled while the "RC6" option only controls
whether RC6 is left enabled or not by BIOS. OTOH we were missing a few
checks to ensure a proper RC6 setup. Add these now and don't fail the
sanity check if RC6 is disabled. This fixes a problem where RC6 remains
disabled after reloading the driver, since we explicitly disable RC6
during unloading.

Currently the addressing mode bit in context descriptor is statically
generated from the configuration of system-wide PPGTT usage model.
GVT-g will load the PPGTT shadow page table by itself and probably one
guest is using a different addressing mode with i915 host. The addressing
mode bits of a LRC context should be configurable under this case.
