2018-07-04drm/bridge/sii8620: Fix display of packed pixel modesMaciej Purski
Current implementation does not guarantee packed pixel modes working with every dongle. There are some dongles, which require selecting the output mode explicitly. Write proper values to registers in packed_pixel mode, based on how it is done in vendor's code. Select output color space: RGB (no packed pixel) or YCBCR422 (packed pixel). This reverts commit e8b92efa629dac0e70ea4145c5e70616de5f89c8 ("drm/bridge/sii8620: fix display of packed pixel modes in MHL2"). 2018-07-04drm/bridge/sii8620: Send AVI infoframe in all MHL versionsMaciej Purski
Currently AVI infoframe is sent only in MHL3. However, some MHL2 dongles need AVI infoframe to work correctly in either packed pixel mode or non-packed pixel mode. Send AVI infoframe in set_infoframes() in every case. Create an infoframe using drm_hdmi_infoframe_from_display_mode() instead of manually filling each infoframe structure's field. 2018-06-21drm/bridge/sii8620: fix display of packed pixel modes in MHL2Maciej Purski
Currently packed pixel modes in MHL2 can't be displayed. The device automatically recognizes output format, so setting format other than RGB causes failure. Fix it by writing proper values to registers. Tested on MHL1 and MHL2 using various vendors' dongles both in DVI and HDMI mode. 2018-06-13drm/bridge/sii8620: fix HDMI cable connection to dongleMaciej Purski
MHL bridge is usually connected to TV via MHL dongle. Currently plugging HDMI cable to dongle is handled improperly. Fix it by splitting connecting of a dongle and a HDMI cable. The driver should now handle unplugging a sink from a dongle and plugging a different sink with new edid. Tested on MHL1, MHL2 and MHL3 using various vendors' dongles both in DVI and HDMI mode. HSIC initialization was taken from the vendor code. HSIC in MHL circuit is not connected, so it is not possible to test it. Tests prove that without HSIC the device works well. The vendor code waits for infoframe to detect video mode set by source. We do not need to follow this pattern, because video mode information is provided by drm core. As a result most of the infoframe handling code can be removed. Start transmission immediately after detecting stream on HDMI lines in irq_scdt() function without waiting for infoframe interrupt. Buffer overflow error should not occur, as mode_fixup() callback filters pixel clock value and it should never exceed 600000. However, current implementation is not obviously safe and relies on implementation of mode_fixup(). Make 'i' variable never reach unsafe value in order to avoid buffer overflow error. 2017-11-22drm/edid: Allow HDMI infoframe without VIC or S3DVille Syrjälä
Appedix F of HDMI 2.0 says that some HDMI sink may fail to switch from 3D to 2D mode in a timely fashion if the source simply stops sending the HDMI infoframe. The suggested workaround is to keep sending the infoframe even when strictly not necessary (ie. no VIC and no S3D). HDMI 1.4 does allow for this behaviour, stating that sending the infoframe is optional in this case. The infoframe was first specified in HDMI 1.4, so in theory sinks predating that may not appreciate us sending an uknown infoframe their way. To avoid regressions let's try to determine if the sink supports the infoframe or not. Unfortunately there's no direct way to do that, so instead we'll just check if we managed to parse any HDMI 1.4 4k or stereo modes from the EDID, and if so we assume the sink will accept the infoframe. If the sink device is in HDMI mode, enable infoframe interrupt in scdt irq handle function else call start_video function immediately, because in DVI mode, there is no infoframe interrupt provided. Rename start_hdmi function to start_video and get rid of the old start_video function. In start_video, if the sink is DVI and mode is MHL1 or MHl2, write appropriate values to registers else the path should remain the same as in HDMI mode. Due to asynchronous nature of MHL flow of execution is dispersed. Logical continuation of some actions happens after response of peer, i.e in interrupt handler. To simplify coding continuation mechanism has been added - it is now possible to provide continuation callback, which will be called after peer responds to given action. 2016-10-26drm/bridge: add Silicon Image SiI8620 driverAndrzej Hajda
SiI8620 transmitter converts eTMDS/HDMI signal to MHL 3.0. It is controlled via I2C bus. Its interaction with other devices in video pipeline is performed mainly on HW level. The only interaction it does on device driver level is filtering-out unsupported video modes, it exposes drm_bridge interface to perform this operation.
