Cr50 firmware has a different flow control protocol than the one used by this TPM PTP SPI driver. Introduce a flow control callback so we can override the standard sequence with the custom one that Cr50 uses. 2019-11-12tpm: Add a flag to indicate TPM power is managed by firmwareStephen Boyd
On some platforms, the TPM power is managed by firmware and therefore we don't need to stop the TPM on suspend when going to a light version of suspend such as S0ix ("freeze" suspend state). Add a chip flag, TPM_CHIP_FLAG_FIRMWARE_POWER_MANAGED, to indicate this so that certain platforms can probe for the usage of this light suspend and avoid touching the TPM state across suspend/resume. 2019-11-12tpm_tis: override durations for STM tpm with firmware 1.2.8.28Jerry Snitselaar
There was revealed a bug in the STM TPM chipset used in Dell R415s. Bug is observed so far only on chipset firmware 1.2.8.28 (1.2 TPM, device-id 0x0, rev-id 78). After some number of operations chipset hangs and stays in inconsistent state: tpm_tis 00:09: Operation Timed out tpm_tis 00:09: tpm_transmit: tpm_send: error -5 Durations returned by the chip are the same like on other firmware revisions but apparently with specifically 1.2.8.28 fw durations should be reset to 2 minutes to enable tpm chip work properly. No working way of updating firmware was found. This patch adds implementation of ->update_durations method that matches only STM devices with specific firmware version. 2019-09-25tpm: Wrap the buffer from the caller to tpm_buf in tpm_send()Jarkko Sakkinen
tpm_send() does not give anymore the result back to the caller. This would require another memcpy(), which kind of tells that the whole approach is somewhat broken. Instead, as Mimi suggested, this commit just wraps the data to the tpm_buf, and thus the result will not go to the garbage. Obviously this assumes from the caller that it passes large enough buffer, which makes the whole API somewhat broken because it could be different size than @buflen but since trusted keys is the only module using this API right now I think that this fix is sufficient for the moment. In the near future the plan is to replace the parameters with a tpm_buf created by the caller. 2019-09-25KEYS: trusted: correctly initialize digests and fix locking issueRoberto Sassu
Commit 0b6cf6b97b7e ("tpm: pass an array of tpm_extend_digest structures to tpm_pcr_extend()") modifies tpm_pcr_extend() to accept a digest for each PCR bank. After modification, tpm_pcr_extend() expects that digests are passed in the same order as the algorithms set in chip->allocated_banks. This patch fixes two issues introduced in the last iterations of the patch set: missing initialization of the TPM algorithm ID in the tpm_digest structures passed to tpm_pcr_extend() by the trusted key module, and unreleased locks in the TPM driver due to returning from tpm_pcr_extend() without calling tpm_put_ops(). 2019-08-05tpm: tpm_ibm_vtpm: Fix unallocated banksNayna Jain
The nr_allocated_banks and allocated banks are initialized as part of tpm_chip_register. Currently, this is done as part of auto startup function. However, some drivers, like the ibm vtpm driver, do not run auto startup during initialization. This results in uninitialized memory issue and causes a kernel panic during boot. This patch moves the pcr allocation outside the auto startup function into tpm_chip_register. This ensures that allocated banks are initialized in any case. 2019-06-24tpm: Don't duplicate events from the final event log in the TCG2 logMatthew Garrett
After the first call to GetEventLog() on UEFI systems using the TCG2 crypto agile log format, any further log events (other than those triggered by ExitBootServices()) will be logged in both the main log and also in the Final Events Log. While the kernel only calls GetEventLog() immediately before ExitBootServices(), we can't control whether earlier parts of the boot process have done so. This will result in log entries that exist in both logs, and so the current approach of simply appending the Final Event Log to the main log will result in events being duplicated. We can avoid this problem by looking at the size of the Final Event Log just before we call ExitBootServices() and exporting this to the main kernel. The kernel can then skip over all events that occured before ExitBootServices() and only append events that were not also logged to the main log. 2019-06-24tpm: Append the final event log to the TPM event logMatthew Garrett
Any events that are logged after GetEventsLog() is called are logged to the EFI Final Events table. These events are defined as being in the crypto agile log format, so we can just append them directly to the existing log if it's in the same format. In theory we can also construct old-style SHA1 log entries for devices that only return logs in that format, but EDK2 doesn't generate the final event log in that case so it doesn't seem worth it at the moment. 2019-06-24tpm: Reserve the TPM final events tableMatthew Garrett
UEFI systems provide a boot services protocol for obtaining the TPM event log, but this is unusable after ExitBootServices() is called. Unfortunately ExitBootServices() itself triggers additional TPM events that then can't be obtained using this protocol. The platform provides a mechanism for the OS to obtain these events by recording them to a separate UEFI configuration table which the OS can then map. Unfortunately this table isn't self describing in terms of providing its length, so we need to parse the events inside it to figure out how long it is. Since the table isn't mapped at this point, we need to extend the length calculation function to be able to map the event as it goes along. We need to calculate the size of crypto agile events in multiple locations, including in the EFI boot stub. The easiest way to do this is to put it in a header file as an inline and leave a wrapper to ensure we don't end up with multiple copies of it embedded in the existing code. A "get random" may fail with a TPM error, but those codes were returned as-is to the caller, which assumed the result was the number of bytes that had been written to the target buffer, which could lead to a kernel heap memory exposure and over-read. Linus originally suggested to implement this as a new flag to clone() instead of making it a separate system call. After a thorough review from Oleg CLONE_PIDFD returns pidfds in the parent_tidptr argument. This means we can give back the associated pid and the pidfd at the same time. Access to process metadata information thus becomes rather trivial. As has been agreed, CLONE_PIDFD creates file descriptors based on anonymous inodes similar to the new mount api. They are made unconditional by this patchset as they are now needed by core kernel code (vfs, pidfd) even more than they already were before (timerfd, signalfd, io_uring, epoll etc.). The core patchset is rather small. The bulky looking changelist is caused by David's very simple changes to Kconfig to make anon inodes unconditional. A pidfd comes with additional information in fdinfo if the kernel supports procfs. The fdinfo file contains the pid of the process in the callers pid namespace in the same format as the procfs status file, i.e. "Pid:\t%d". To remove worries about missing metadata access this patchset comes with a sample/test program that illustrates how a combination of CLONE_PIDFD and pidfd_send_signal() can be used to gain race-free access to process metadata through /proc/<pid>. Further work based on this patchset has been done by Joel. His work makes pidfds pollable. It finished too late for this merge window. 2019-04-08tpm: fix an invalid condition in tpm_common_pollTadeusz Struk
The poll condition should only check response_length, because reads should only be issued if there is data to read. The response_read flag only prevents double writes. The problem was that the write set the response_read to false, enqued a tpm job, and returned. Then application called poll which checked the response_read flag and returned EPOLLIN. Then the application called read, but got nothing. After all that the async_work kicked in. Added also mutex_lock around the poll check to prevent other possible race conditions. 2019-02-13tpm: pass an array of tpm_extend_digest structures to tpm_pcr_extend()Roberto Sassu
Currently, tpm_pcr_extend() accepts as an input only a SHA1 digest. This patch replaces the hash parameter of tpm_pcr_extend() with an array of tpm_digest structures, so that the caller can provide a digest for each PCR bank currently allocated in the TPM. tpm_pcr_extend() will not extend banks for which no digest was provided, as it happened before this patch, but instead it requires that callers provide the full set of digests. Since the number of digests will always be chip->nr_allocated_banks, the count parameter has been removed. Due to the API change, ima_pcr_extend() and pcrlock() have been modified. Since the number of allocated banks is not known in advance, the memory for the digests must be dynamically allocated. To avoid performance degradation and to avoid that a PCR extend is not done due to lack of memory, the array of tpm_digest structures is allocated by the users of the TPM driver at initialization time. 2019-02-13tpm: retrieve digest size of unknown algorithms with PCR readRoberto Sassu
Currently, the TPM driver retrieves the digest size from a table mapping TPM algorithms identifiers to identifiers defined by the crypto subsystem. If the algorithm is not defined by the latter, the digest size can be retrieved from the output of the PCR read command. The patch modifies the definition of tpm_pcr_read() and tpm2_pcr_read() to pass the desired hash algorithm and obtain the digest size at TPM startup. Algorithms and corresponding digest sizes are stored in the new structure tpm_bank_info, member of tpm_chip, so that the information can be used by other kernel subsystems. tpm_bank_info contains: the TPM algorithm identifier, necessary to generate the event log as defined by Trusted Computing Group (TCG); the digest size, to pad/truncate a digest calculated with a different algorithm; the crypto subsystem identifier, to calculate the digest of event data. This patch also protects against data corruption that could happen in the bus, by checking that the digest size returned by the TPM during a PCR read matches the size of the algorithm passed to tpm2_pcr_read(). For the initial PCR read, when digest sizes are not yet available, this patch ensures that the amount of data copied from the output returned by the TPM does not exceed the size of the array data are copied to. This patch renames active_banks (member of tpm_chip) to allocated_banks, stores the number of allocated PCR banks in nr_allocated_banks (new member of tpm_chip), and replaces the static array with a pointer to a dynamically allocated array. tpm2_get_pcr_allocation() determines if a PCR bank is allocated by checking the mask in the TPML_PCR_SELECTION structure returned by the TPM for TPM2_Get_Capability(). If a bank is not allocated, the TPM returns that bank in TPML_PCR_SELECTION, with all bits in the mask set to zero. In this case, the bank is not included in chip->allocated_banks, to avoid that TPM driver users unnecessarily calculate a digest for that bank. One PCR bank with algorithm set to SHA1 is always allocated for TPM 1.x. As a consequence of the introduction of nr_allocated_banks, tpm_pcr_extend() does not check anymore if the algorithm stored in tpm_chip is equal to zero. The only real dependency existing is the amount of data saved before trying to send a command to the TPM.
