2016-02-05PCI: Remove includes of asm/pci-bridge.hBjorn Helgaas
Drivers should include asm/pci-bridge.h only when they need the arch- specific things provided there. Outside of the arch/ directories, the only drivers that actually need things provided by asm/pci-bridge.h are the powerpc RPA hotplug drivers in drivers/pci/hotplug/rpa*. Remove the includes of asm/pci-bridge.h from the other drivers, adding an include of linux/pci.h if necessary. Signed-off-by: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@google.com>

2013-01-03Drivers: char: remove __dev* attributes.Greg Kroah-Hartman
CONFIG_HOTPLUG is going away as an option. As a result, the __dev* markings need to be removed. This change removes the use of __devinit, __devexit_p, __devinitdata, __devinitconst, and __devexit from these drivers. Based on patches originally written by Bill Pemberton, but redone by me in order to handle some of the coding style issues better, by hand. 2011-05-22agp/uninorth: Fix lockups with radeon KMS and >1x.Michel Dänzer
This was based on a description by Ben Herrenschmidt: > I've removed that SBA reset from the normal TLB invalidation path and > left it only once after turning AGP on. About six months ago, he said: > I did it a bit differently, but yeah, you get the idea. I'm doing a > patch series so don't bother pushing things too hard yet. But I haven't seen anything from him about this since then, and people are regularly hitting these lockups, so here we are... 2010-06-02agp/uninorth: Fix oops caused by flushing too muchPaul Mackerras
This fixes a sporadic oops at boot on G5 Power Macs. The table_end variable has the address of the last byte of the table. Adding on PAGE_SIZE means we flush too much, and if the page after the table is not mapped for any reason, the kernel will oops. Instead we add on 1 because flush_dcache_range() interprets its second argument as the first byte past the range to be flushed. 2010-04-23agp: use scratch page on memory remove and at GATT creation V4Jerome Glisse
Convert most AGP chipset to use scratch page as default entries. This help avoiding GPU querying 0 address and trigger computer fault. With KMS and memory manager we bind/unbind AGP memory constantly and it seems that some GPU are still doing AGP traffic even after GPU report being idle with the memory segment. 2010-03-30include cleanup: Update gfp.h and slab.h includes to prepare for breaking ↵Tejun Heo
implicit slab.h inclusion from percpu.h percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies. percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is used as the basis of conversion. http://userweb.kernel.org/~tj/misc/slabh-sweep.py The script does the followings. * Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used, gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h. * When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered - alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there doesn't seem to be any matching order. * If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the file. The conversion was done in the following steps. 1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400 files. 2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion, some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added inclusions to around 150 files. 3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits from #2 to make sure no file was left behind. 4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed. e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually. 5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as necessary. 6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h. 7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq). * x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config. * powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig * sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig * ia64 SMP allmodconfig * s390 SMP allmodconfig * alpha SMP allmodconfig * um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig 8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as a separate patch and serve as bisection point. Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step 6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch. If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of the specific arch. 2009-08-20agp/uninorth: Allow larger aperture sizes on pre-U3 bridges.Michel Dänzer
Using the radeon KMS test functionality, I verified that the AGP bridge of the Intrepid2 chipset in my PowerBook supports aperture sizes up to 256M. So allow aperture sizes up to 256M on pre-U3 bridges as well, and bump the default size to 256M. It's possible that older revisions only support smaller sizes, but it'll be easy to verify that with the raden KMS test functionality. Also, there's only a problem on an actual attempt to access the aperture beyond the maximum size supported by the hardware, and non-KMS X still defaults to using only 32M. Also use ARRAY_SIZE for the aperture size arrays. Signed-off-by: Michel Dänzer <daenzer@vmware.com> Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>

2008-08-22agp: enable optimized agp_alloc_pages methodsRene Herman
The pageattr-array patch that you currently have in tip/master only enables it for intel-agp, not the others. The attached enables it for all drivers currently directly using agp_generic_alloc_page() and agp_generic_destroy_page() (ocal driver is amd-k7-agp). The new agp_generic_alloc_pages() interface uses the also new pageattr array interface API. This makes all AGP drivers that up to now used generic_{alloc,destroy}_page() use it. 2007-02-03[AGPGART] Allow drm-populated agp memory typesThomas Hellstrom
This patch allows drm to populate an agpgart structure with pages of its own. It's needed for the new drm memory manager which dynamically flips pages in and out of AGP. The patch modifies the generic functions as well as the intel agp driver. The intel drm driver is currently the only one supporting the new memory manager. Other agp drivers may need some minor fixing up once they have a corresponding memory manager enabled drm driver. AGP memory types >= AGP_USER_TYPES are not populated by the agpgart driver, but the drm is expected to do that, as well as taking care of cache- and tlb flushing when needed. It's not possible to request these types from user space using agpgart ioctls. The Intel driver also gets a new memory type for pages that can be bound cached to the intel GTT. 2006-10-15[AGPGART] uninorth: Add module param 'aperture' for aperture sizeMichel Dänzer
In contrast to most if not all PC BIOSes, OpenFirmware (OF) on PowerMacs with UniNorth bridges does not allow changing the aperture size. The size set up by OF is usually 16 MB, which is too low for graphics intensive environments. Hence, add a module parameter that allows changing the aperture size at driver initialization time. When the parameter is not specified, the default is 32 MB. 2005-06-07[PATCH] AGP fix for Xen VMMKeir Fraser
When Linux is running on the Xen virtual machine monitor, physical addresses are virtualised and cannot be directly referenced by the AGP GART. This patch fixes the GART driver for Xen by adding a layer of abstraction between physical addresses and 'GART addresses'. Architecture-specific functions are also defined for allocating and freeing the GATT. Xen requires this to ensure that table really is contiguous from the point of view of the GART. These extra interface functions are defined as 'no-ops' for all existing architectures that use the GART driver. 2005-04-16[PATCH] ppc32: Fix AGP and sleep againBenjamin Herrenschmidt
My previous patch that added sleep support for uninorth-agp and some AGP "off" stuff in radeonfb and aty128fb is breaking some configs. More specifically, it has problems with rage128 setups since the DRI code for these in X doesn't properly re-enable AGP on wakeup or console switch (unlike the radeon DRM). This patch fixes the problem for pmac once for all by using a different approach. The AGP driver "registers" special suspend/resume callbacks with some arch code that the fbdev's can later on call to suspend and resume AGP, making sure it's resumed back in the same state it was when suspended. This is platform specific for now. It would be too complicated to try to do a generic implementation of this at this point due to all sort of weird things going on with AGP on other architectures. We'll re-work that whole problem cleanly once we finally merge fbdev's and DRI. In the meantime, please apply this patch which brings back some r128 based laptops into working condition as far as system sleep is concerned. 2005-04-16Linux-2.6.12-rc2Linus Torvalds
Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history, even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about 3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good infrastructure for it. Let it rip!
