2011-10-14x86, mrst: use a temporary variable for SFI irqMika Westerberg
SFI tables reside in RAM and should not be modified once they are written. Current code went to set pentry->irq to zero which causes subsequent reads to fail with invalid SFI table checksum. This will break kexec as the second kernel fails to validate SFI tables. To fix this we use temporary variable for irq number. 2011-09-21x86/rtc: Don't recursively acquire rtc_lockMatt Fleming
A deadlock was introduced on x86 in commit ef68c8f87ed1 ("x86: Serialize EFI time accesses on rtc_lock") because efi_get_time() and friends can be called with rtc_lock already held by read_persistent_time(), e.g.: timekeeping_init() read_persistent_clock() <-- acquire rtc_lock efi_get_time() phys_efi_get_time() <-- acquire rtc_lock <DEADLOCK> To fix this let's push the locking down into the get_wallclock() and set_wallclock() implementations. Only the clock implementations that access the x86 RTC directly need to acquire rtc_lock, so it makes sense to push the locking down into the rtc, vrtc and efi code. The virtualization implementations don't require rtc_lock to be held because they provide their own serialization. 2011-08-26sfi: table irq 0xFF means 'no interrupt'Kirill A. Shutemov
According to the SFI specification irq number 0xFF means device has no interrupt or interrupt attached via GPIO. Currently, we don't handle this special case and set irq field in *_board_info structs to 255. It leads to confusion in some drivers. Accelerometer driver tries to register interrupt 255, fails and prints "Cannot get IRQ" to dmesg. Signed-off-by: Kirill A. 2011-08-03mrst_pmu: driver for Intel Moorestown Power Management UnitLen Brown
The Moorestown (MRST) Power Management Unit (PMU) driver directs the SOC power states in the "Langwell" south complex (SCU). It hooks pci_platform_pm_ops[] and thus observes all PCI ".set_state" requests. For devices in the SC, the pmu driver translates those PCI requests into the appropriate commands for the SCU. The PMU driver helps implement S0i3, a deep system idle power idle state. Entry into S0i3 is via cpuidle, just like regular processor c-states. S0i3 depends on pre-conditions including uni-processor, graphics off, and certain IO devices in the SC must be off. If those pre-conditions are met, then the PMU allows cpuidle to enter S0i3, otherwise such requests are demoted, either to Atom C4 or Atom C6. This driver is based on prototype work by Bruce Flemming, Illyas Mansoor, Rajeev D. Muralidhar, Vishwesh M. Rudramuni, Hari Seshadri and Sujith Thomas. The current driver also includes contributions from H. Peter Anvin, Arjan van de Ven, Kristen Accardi, and Yong Wang. Thanks for additional review feedback from Alan Cox and Randy Dunlap. 2011-04-12x86/mrst: Fix boot crash caused by incorrect pin to irq mappingJacob Pan
Moorestown systems crash on boot because the secondary CPU clockevent (apbt1) will fail to request irq#1, which does not have ioapic chip in its irq_desc[] entry. Background: Moorestown platform does not have ISA bus nor legacy IRQs. It reuses the range of legacy IRQs for regular device interrupts. The routing information of early system device IRQs (timers) are obtained from firmware provided SFI tables. We reuse/fake MP configuration table to facilitate IRQ setup with IOAPIC. Maintaining a 1:1 mapping of IOAPIC pin (RTE entry) and IRQ# makes routing information clean and easy to understand on Moorestown. Though optional. This patch allows SFI timer and vRTC IRQ to be treated as ISA IRQ so that pin2irq mapping will be 1:1. Also fixed MP table type and use macros to clearly set MP IRQ entries. As a result, apbt timer and RTC interrupts on Moorestown are within legacy IRQ range: # cat /proc/interrupts CPU0 CPU1 0: 11249 0 IO-APIC-edge apbt0 1: 0 12271 IO-APIC-edge apbt1 8: 887 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi dw_spi 13: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi INTEL_MID_DMAC2 14: 0 0 IO-APIC-fasteoi rtc0 Further discussion of this patch can be found at: https://lkml.org/lkml/2010/6/10/70 Suggested-by: "Eric W. 2011-02-14mrst/vrtc: Avoid using cmos rtc opsFeng Tang
If we don't assign Moorestown specific wallclock init and ops function the rtc/persisent clock code will use cmos rtc for access, this will crash Moorestown in that the ioports are not present. Also in vrtc driver, should avoid using cmos access to check UIP status. 2010-11-11x86: mrst: Set vRTC's IRQ to level trigger typeFeng Tang
When setting up the mpc_intsrc structure for vRTC's IRQ, we need to set its irqflag to level trigger, otherwise it will be taken as edge triggered and the vRTC IRQ will fire only once, as there is never a EOI issued from the IA core for it. The original code worked in previous kernel. This is because it was configured to level trigger type by luck. It fell into the default PCI trigger category which is level triggered. 2010-11-11x86: mrst: Add vrtc driver which serves as a wall clock deviceFeng Tang
Moorestown platform doesn't have a m146818 RTC device like traditional x86 PC, but a firmware emulated virtual RTC device(vrtc), which provides some basic RTC functions like get/set time. vrtc serves as the only wall clock device on Moorestown platform. 2010-11-09x86: mrst: Parse SFI timer table for all timer configsJacob Pan
Penwell has APB timer based watchdog timers, it requires platform code to parse SFI MTMR tables in order to claim its timer. This patch will always parse SFI MTMR regardless of system timer configuration choices. Otherwise, SFI MTMR table may not get parsed if running on Medfield with always-on local APIC timers and constant TSC. Watchdog timer driver will then not get a timer to use. 2010-11-09x86/mrst: Add SFI platform device parsing codeFeng Tang
SFI provides a series of tables. These describe the platform devices present including SPI and I²C devices, as well as various sensors, keypads and other glue as well as interfaces provided via the SCU IPC mechanism (intel_scu_ipc.c) This patch is a merge of the core elements and relevant fixes from the Intel development code by Feng, Alek, myself into a single coherent patch for upstream submission. It provides the needed infrastructure to register I2C, SPI and platform devices described by the tables, as well as handlers for some of the hardware already supported in kernel. The 0.8 firmware also provides GPIO tables. Devices are created at boot time or if they are SCU dependant at the point an SCU is discovered. The existing Linux device mechanisms will then handle the device binding. At an abstract level this is an SFI to Linux device translator. Device/platform specific setup/glue is in this file. This is done so that the drivers for the generic I²C and SPI bus devices remain cross platform as they should.
