git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux Pull more overflow updates from Kees Cook: "The rest of the overflow changes for v4.18-rc1. This includes the explicit overflow fixes from Silvio, further struct_size() conversions from Matthew, and a bug fix from Dan. But the bulk of it is the treewide conversions to use either the 2-factor argument allocators (e.g. kmalloc(a * b, ...) into kmalloc_array(a, b, ...) or the array_size() macros (e.g. vmalloc(a * b) into vmalloc(array_size(a, b)). Coccinelle was fighting me on several fronts, so I've done a bunch of manual whitespace updates in the patches as well. Summary: - Error path bug fix for overflow tests (Dan) - Additional struct_size() conversions (Matthew, Kees) - Explicitly reported overflow fixes (Silvio, Kees) - Add missing kvcalloc() function (Kees) - Treewide conversions of allocators to use either 2-factor argument variant when available, or array_size() and array3_size() as needed (Kees)" * tag 'overflow-v4.18-rc1-part2' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/kees/linux: (26 commits) treewide: Use array_size in f2fs_kvzalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in f2fs_kzalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in f2fs_kmalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in sock_kmalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in kvzalloc_node() treewide: Use array_size() in vzalloc_node() treewide: Use array_size() in vzalloc() treewide: Use array_size() in vmalloc() treewide: devm_kzalloc() -> devm_kcalloc() treewide: devm_kmalloc() -> devm_kmalloc_array() treewide: kvzalloc() -> kvcalloc() treewide: kvmalloc() -> kvmalloc_array() treewide: kzalloc_node() -> kcalloc_node() treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc() treewide: kmalloc() -> kmalloc_array() mm: Introduce kvcalloc() video: uvesafb: Fix integer overflow in allocation UBIFS: Fix potential integer overflow in allocation leds: Use struct_size() in allocation Convert intel uncore to struct_size ...
2018-06-12treewide: Use array_size() in vmalloc()Kees Cook
The vmalloc() function has no 2-factor argument form, so multiplication factors need to be wrapped in array_size(). This patch replaces cases of: vmalloc(a * b) with: vmalloc(array_size(a, b)) as well as handling cases of: vmalloc(a * b * c) with: vmalloc(array3_size(a, b, c)) This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like: vmalloc(4 * 1024) though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion. Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were dropped, since they're redundant. The Coccinelle script used for this was: // Fix redundant parens around sizeof(). @@ type TYPE; expression THING, E; @@ ( vmalloc( - (sizeof(TYPE)) * E + sizeof(TYPE) * E , ...) | vmalloc( - (sizeof(THING)) * E + sizeof(THING) * E , ...) ) // Drop single-byte sizes and redundant parens. @@ expression COUNT; typedef u8; typedef __u8; @@ ( vmalloc( - sizeof(u8) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(__u8) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(char) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(unsigned char) * (COUNT) + COUNT , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(u8) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(__u8) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(char) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(unsigned char) * COUNT + COUNT , ...) ) // 2-factor product with sizeof(type/expression) and identifier or constant. @@ type TYPE; expression THING; identifier COUNT_ID; constant COUNT_CONST; @@ ( vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT_ID) + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT_ID + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT_CONST) + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT_CONST + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT_ID) + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT_ID + array_size(COUNT_ID, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT_CONST) + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT_CONST + array_size(COUNT_CONST, sizeof(THING)) , ...) ) // 2-factor product, only identifiers. @@ identifier SIZE, COUNT; @@ vmalloc( - SIZE * COUNT + array_size(COUNT, SIZE) , ...) // 3-factor product with 1 sizeof(type) or sizeof(expression), with // redundant parens removed. @@ expression THING; identifier STRIDE, COUNT; type TYPE; @@ ( vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT) * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * (COUNT) * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE) * COUNT * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(TYPE)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT) * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * (COUNT) * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT * (STRIDE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING) * COUNT * STRIDE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, sizeof(THING)) , ...) ) // 3-factor product with 2 sizeof(variable), with redundant parens removed. @@ expression THING1, THING2; identifier COUNT; type TYPE1, TYPE2; @@ ( vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(TYPE2) * COUNT + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(TYPE2)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(THING2) * (COUNT) + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(TYPE2)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING1) * sizeof(THING2) * COUNT + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(THING1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(THING1) * sizeof(THING2) * (COUNT) + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(THING1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(THING2) * COUNT + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) | vmalloc( - sizeof(TYPE1) * sizeof(THING2) * (COUNT) + array3_size(COUNT, sizeof(TYPE1), sizeof(THING2)) , ...) ) // 3-factor product, only identifiers, with redundant parens removed. @@ identifier STRIDE, SIZE, COUNT; @@ ( vmalloc( - (COUNT) * STRIDE * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vmalloc( - COUNT * (STRIDE) * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vmalloc( - COUNT * STRIDE * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vmalloc( - (COUNT) * (STRIDE) * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vmalloc( - COUNT * (STRIDE) * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vmalloc( - (COUNT) * STRIDE * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vmalloc( - (COUNT) * (STRIDE) * (SIZE) + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) | vmalloc( - COUNT * STRIDE * SIZE + array3_size(COUNT, STRIDE, SIZE) , ...) ) // Any remaining multi-factor products, first at least 3-factor products // when they're not all constants... @@ expression E1, E2, E3; constant C1, C2, C3; @@ ( vmalloc(C1 * C2 * C3, ...) | vmalloc( - E1 * E2 * E3 + array3_size(E1, E2, E3) , ...) ) // And then all remaining 2 factors products when they're not all constants. @@ expression E1, E2; constant C1, C2; @@ ( vmalloc(C1 * C2, ...) | vmalloc( - E1 * E2 + array_size(E1, E2) , ...) ) Signed-off-by: Kees Cook <keescook@chromium.org>

Change css_general_characteristics such that the bitfields don't straddle storage-unit boundaries of the base types. This does not change the offsets of the structs members but now we do as documented and also fix the following sparse complaint: drivers/s390/cio/chsc.c:926:56: warning: invalid access past the end of 'css_general_characteristics' (16 18) Signed-off-by: Sebastian Ott <sebott@linux.ibm.com> Reviewed-by: Peter Oberparleiter <oberpar@linux.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Martin Schwidefsky <schwidefsky@de.ibm.com>
2018-06-07s390: use _refcount for pgtablesMatthew Wilcox
Patch series "Rearrange struct page", v6. As presented at LSFMM, this patch-set rearranges struct page to give more contiguous usable space to users who have allocated a struct page for their own purposes. For a graphical view of before-and-after, see the first two tabs of https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tvCszs_7FXrjei9_mtFiKV6nW1FLnYyvPvW-qNZhdog/edit?usp=sharing Highlights: - deferred_list now really exists in struct page instead of just a comment. - hmm_data also exists in struct page instead of being a nasty hack. - x86's PGD pages have a real pointer to the mm_struct. - VMalloc pages now have all sorts of extra information stored in them to help with debugging and tuning. - rcu_head is no longer tied to slab in case anyone else wants to free pages by RCU. - slub's counters no longer share space with _refcount. - slub's freelist+counters are now naturally dword aligned. - slub loses a parameter to a lot of functions and a sysfs file. This patch (of 17): s390 borrows the storage used for _mapcount in struct page in order to account whether the bottom or top half is being used for 2kB page tables. I want to use that for something else, so use the top byte of _refcount instead of the bottom byte of _mapcount. _refcount may temporarily be incremented by other CPUs that see a stale pointer to this page in the page cache, but each CPU can only increment it by one, and there are no systems with 2^24 CPUs today, so they will not change the upper byte of _refcount. We do have to be a little careful not to lose any of their writes (as they will subsequently decrement the counter). 2018-06-07mm: introduce ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIALLaurent Dufour
Currently the PTE special supports is turned on in per architecture header files. Most of the time, it is defined in arch/*/include/asm/pgtable.h depending or not on some other per architecture static definition. This patch introduce a new configuration variable to manage this directly in the Kconfig files. It would later replace __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL. Here notes for some architecture where the definition of __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL is not obvious: arm __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL which is currently defined in arch/arm/include/asm/pgtable-3level.h which is included by arch/arm/include/asm/pgtable.h when CONFIG_ARM_LPAE is set. So select ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL if ARM_LPAE. powerpc __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL is defined in 2 files: - arch/powerpc/include/asm/book3s/64/pgtable.h - arch/powerpc/include/asm/pte-common.h The first one is included if (PPC_BOOK3S & PPC64) while the second is included in all the other cases. So select ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL all the time. sparc: __HAVE_ARCH_PTE_SPECIAL is defined if defined(__sparc__) && defined(__arch64__) which are defined through the compiler in sparc/Makefile if !SPARC32 which I assume to be if SPARC64. So select ARCH_HAS_PTE_SPECIAL if SPARC64 There is no functional change introduced by this patch. git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip Pull irq updates from Thomas Gleixner: - Consolidation of softirq pending: The softirq mask and its accessors/mutators have many implementations scattered around many architectures. Most do the same things consisting in a field in a per-cpu struct (often irq_cpustat_t) accessed through per-cpu ops. We can provide instead a generic efficient version that most of them can use. In fact s390 is the only exception because the field is stored in lowcore. - Support for level!?! triggered MSI (ARM) Over the past couple of years, we've seen some SoCs coming up with ways of signalling level interrupts using a new flavor of MSIs, where the MSI controller uses two distinct messages: one that raises a virtual line, and one that lowers it. The target MSI controller is in charge of maintaining the state of the line. This allows for a much simplified HW signal routing (no need to have hundreds of discrete lines to signal level interrupts if you already have a memory bus), but results in a departure from the current idea the kernel has of MSIs. - Support for Meson-AXG GPIO irqchip - Large stm32 irqchip rework (suspend/resume, hierarchical domains) - More SPDX conversions * 'irq-core-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/tip/tip: (36 commits) ARM: dts: stm32: Add exti support to stm32mp157 pinctrl ARM: dts: stm32: Add exti support for stm32mp157c pinctrl/stm32: Add irq_eoi for stm32gpio irqchip irqchip/stm32: Add suspend/resume support for hierarchy domain irqchip/stm32: Add stm32mp1 support with hierarchy domain irqchip/stm32: Prepare common functions irqchip/stm32: Add host and driver data structures irqchip/stm32: Add suspend support irqchip/stm32: Add falling pending register support irqchip/stm32: Checkpatch fix irqchip/stm32: Optimizes and cleans up stm32-exti irq_domain irqchip/meson-gpio: Add support for Meson-AXG SoCs dt-bindings: interrupt-controller: New binding for Meson-AXG SoC dt-bindings: interrupt-controller: Fix the double quotes softirq/s390: Move default mutators of overwritten softirq mask to s390 softirq/x86: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/sparc: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/powerpc: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/parisc: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation softirq/ia64: Switch to generic local_softirq_pending() implementation ...

2018-05-30s390/archrandom: Rework arch random implementation.Harald Freudenberger
The arch_get_random_seed_long() invocation done by the random device driver is done in interrupt context and may be invoked very very frequently. The existing s390 arch_get_random_seed*() implementation uses the PRNO(TRNG) instruction which produces excellent high quality entropy but is relatively slow and thus expensive. This fix reworks the arch_get_random_seed* implementation. It introduces a buffer concept to decouple the delivery of random data via arch_get_random_seed*() from the generation of new random bytes. The buffer of random data is filled asynchronously by a workqueue thread. If there are enough bytes in the buffer the s390_arch_random_generate() just delivers these bytes. Otherwise false is returned until the worker thread refills the buffer. The worker fills the rng buffer by pulling fresh entropy from the high quality (but slow) true hardware random generator. This entropy is then spread over the buffer with an pseudo random generator. As the arch_get_random_seed_long() fetches 8 bytes and the calling function add_interrupt_randomness() counts this as 1 bit entropy the distribution needs to make sure there is in fact 1 bit entropy contained in 8 bytes of the buffer. The current values pull 32 byte entropy and scatter this into a 2048 byte buffer. So 8 byte in the buffer will contain 1 bit of entropy. The worker thread is rescheduled based on the charge level of the buffer but at least with 500 ms delay to avoid too much cpu consumption. So the max. amount of rng data delivered via arch_get_random_seed is limited to 4Kb per second. Ensure that sparse can predefine the macros corresponding to how the kernel was configured by adding -m{big,little}-endian to CHECKFLAGS in the main Makefile (and so for all archs). New compilers use the floating-point registers as spill registers when there is high register pressure. In the purgatory however, the afp control bit is not set. 2018-05-09s390/early: get rid of memmove_earlyHeiko Carstens
memmove_early was introduced with commit d543a106f96d6 ("s390: fix initrd corruptions with gcov/kcov instrumented kernels"). The reason for writing this extra memmove implementation was to be able to move memory from an unknown location (aka SCSI IPL parameter block) to a known location. This had to done early before it was known if the SCSI IPL parameter block pointer was valid or not, and therefore the memmove implementation was supposed to be able to handle program checks. The code has been changed and especially with commit d08091ac9654 ("s390/ipl: rely on diag308 store to get ipl info") and commit b4623d4e5b23 ("s390: provide memmove implementation") there is no need to have a memmove version that can handle program checks, and in addition it cannot be gcov/kcov instrumented anymore.
