2017-10-22powerpc/configs: Enable I2C_CHARDEV for pseries and powernvAndrew Donnellan
i2c-dev provides an interface for userspace programs to interact with I2C devices, and is very helpful for I2C-related debugging. Enable it in pseries_defconfig and powernv_defconfig. It's already enabled in many other powerpc defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Andrew Donnellan <andrew.donnellan@au1.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-31powerpc/configs: Enable function trace by defaultBalbir Singh
Most (all?) distros turn these on, so it makes sense to enable them for testing coverage, and they're also useful for developers. Signed-off-by: Balbir Singh <bsingharora@gmail.com> Acked-by: Naveen N. Rao <naveen.n.rao@linux.vnet.ibm.com> [mpe: Reword change log] Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_AUDITSYSCALLMichael Ellerman
Since commit cb74ed278f80 ("audit: always enable syscall auditing when supported and audit is enabled") we no longer need to set CONFIG_AUDITSYSCALL in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_SMP for pseries/ppc64/powernvMichael Ellerman
In commit 40e275653e2c ("powerpc/powernv: Always enable SMP when building powernv") and 270e2dc9b803 ("powerpc/pseries: Always enable SMP when building pseries") we forced CONFIG_SMP on for some configs. Therefore we don't need to set it in those configs anymore. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop unnecessary CONFIG_UPROBE_EVENTMichael Ellerman
In commit 6b0b7551428e ("perf/core: Rename CONFIG_[UK]PROBE_EVENT to CONFIG_[UK]PROBE_EVENTS") it was renamed to CONFIG_UPROBE_EVENTS. Additionally it's default y, and we have the prerequisites enabled, so we don't need it in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop unnecessary CONFIG_NUMA_BALANCING_DEFAULT_ENABLEDMichael Ellerman
In commit 9654f95a081a ("powerpc: Enable NUMA balancing in pseries[_le]_defconfig") we added CONFIG_NUMA_BALANCING_DEFAULT_ENABLED to our defconfigs. But it's already enabled by default, so drop it. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_DEVPTS_MULTIPLE_INSTANCESMichael Ellerman
Since commit eedf265aa003 ("devpts: Make each mount of devpts an independent filesystem.") we no longer need to set CONFIG_DEVPTS_MULTIPLE_INSTANCES in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_VMX_ENCRYPTMichael Ellerman
Since commit ccf5c442a1b8 ("crypto: vmx - Convert to CPU feature based module autoloading") we no longer need to set CONFIG_CRYPTO_DEV_VMX_ENCRYPT in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop no longer needed CONFIG_FHANDLEMichael Ellerman
Since commit f76be61755c5 ("Make CONFIG_FHANDLE default y") we no longer need to set CONFIG_FHANDLE in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Explicitly drop CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEVMichael Ellerman
In commit 73d8ef76006b ("Input: mousedev - stop offering PS/2 to userspace by default") (Jan 2017), CONFIG_INPUT_MOUSEDEV was switched from default y to default n, with the explanation: Evdev interface has been available for many years and by now everyone is switched to using it, so let's stop offering /dev/input/mouseN and /dev/psaux by default. We had a number of configs which had it enabled, but going by the above explanation probably don't need it enabled anymore. So drop the last remnants of it from our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Drop unneeded CONFIG_CRYPTO_ANSI_CPRNGMichael Ellerman
Since commit 401e4238f35c ("crypto: rng - Make DRBG the default RNG") we no longer need to set CONFIG_CRYPTO_ANSI_CPRNG in our defconfigs. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-28powerpc/configs: Update for symbol movement onlyMichael Ellerman
Update defconfigs for symbols that have moved around, without their value changing. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-08-09powerpc/configs: Re-enable HARD/SOFT lockup detectorsMichael Ellerman
In commit 05a4a9527931 ("kernel/watchdog: split up config options"), CONFIG_LOCKUP_DETECTOR was split into two separate config options, CONFIG_HARDLOCKUP_DETECTOR and CONFIG_SOFTLOCKUP_DETECTOR. Our defconfigs still have CONFIG_LOCKUP_DETECTOR=y, but that is no longer user selectable, and we don't mention the new options, so we end up with none of them enabled. So update the defconfigs to turn on the new SOFT and HARD options, the end result being the same as what we had previously. Fixes: 05a4a9527931 ("kernel/watchdog: split up config options") Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-03-28powerpc/configs: Re-enable POWER8 crc32cAnton Blanchard
The config option for the POWER8 crc32c recently changed from CONFIG_CRYPT_CRC32C_VPMSUM to CONFIG_CRYPTO_CRC32C_VPMSUM. Update the configs. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-03-28powerpc/configs: Make oprofile a moduleAnton Blanchard

2017-03-28powerpc/configs: Re-enable ISO9660_FS as a built-in in 64 bit configsAnton Blanchard
It turns out cloud-config uses ISO9660 filesystems to inject configuration data into cloud images. The cloud-config failures when ISO9660_FS is not enabled are cryptic, and building it in makes mainline testing easier, so re-enable it. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-02-21powerpc/pseries: Revert 'Auto-online hotplugged memory'Nathan Fontenot
This reverts commit ec999072442a ("powerpc/pseries: Auto-online hotplugged memory"), and 9dc512819e4b ("powerpc: Fix unused function warning 'lmb_to_memblock'"). Using the auto-online acpability does online added memory but does not update the associated device struct to indicate that the memory is online. This causes the pseries memory DLPAR code to fail when trying to remove a LMB that was previously removed and added back. This happens when validating that the LMB is removable. This patch reverts to the previous behavior of calling device_online() to online the LMB when it is DLPAR added and moves the lmb_to_memblock() routine out of CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTREMOVE now that we call it for add. Fixes: ec999072442a ("powerpc/pseries: Auto-online hotplugged memory") Cc: stable@vger.kernel.org # v4.8+ Signed-off-by: Nathan Fontenot <nfont@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2017-02-09powerpc/64: Include bpf/bcc related config options in defconfigsNaveen N. Rao
Specifically: - CONFIG_BPF_SYSCALL - CONFIG_NET_SCHED - CONFIG_NET_CLS_BPF - CONFIG_NET_CLS_ACT - CONFIG_NET_ACT_BPF - CONFIG_CGROUP_BPF - CONFIG_UPROBE_EVENT ... in pseries, ppc64 and powernv defconfigs. 2017-02-02powerpc/64: Add BPF_JIT to powernv and pseries defconfigsAnton Blanchard
Commit db9112173b18 ("powerpc: Turn on BPF_JIT in ppc64_defconfig") only added BPF_JIT to the ppc64 defconfig. Add it to our powernv and pseries defconfigs too. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Acked-by: Naveen N. Rao <naveen.n.rao@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-11-30powerpc: Enable CONFIG_KEXEC_FILE in powerpc server defconfigs.Thiago Jung Bauermann
Enable CONFIG_KEXEC_FILE in powernv_defconfig, ppc64_defconfig and pseries_defconfig. It depends on CONFIG_CRYPTO_SHA256=y, so add that as well. Signed-off-by: Thiago Jung Bauermann <bauerman@linux.vnet.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-11-18powerpc/configs: Turn on PPC crypto implementations in the server defconfigsMichael Ellerman
These are the PPC optimised versions of various crypto algorithms, so we should turn them on by default to get test coverage. Suggested-by: Nicholas Piggin <npiggin@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-11-14powerpc: convert pseries_defconfig to use libata PATA driversBartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz
IDE subsystem has been deprecated since 2009 and the majority (if not all) of Linux distributions have switched to use libata for ATA support exclusively. However there are still some users (mostly old or/and embedded non-x86 systems) that have not converted from using IDE subsystem to libata PATA drivers. This doesn't seem to be good thing in the long-term for Linux as while there is less and less PATA systems left in use: * testing efforts are divided between two subsystems * having duplicate drivers for same hardware confuses users This patch converts pseries_defconfig to use libata PATA drivers. Signed-off-by: Bartlomiej Zolnierkiewicz <b.zolnierkie@samsung.com>
2016-11-14powerpc/configs: Drop REISERFS from pseries & powernvMichael Ellerman
No one uses reiserfs much these days, or is likely to in future. So drop it from pseries and powernv defconfigs to save time and space. It's still enabled in ppc64_defconfig so we get some build coverage. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Enable Intel i40e on 64 bit configsAnton Blanchard
We are starting to see i40e adapters in recent machines, so enable it in our configs. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Change a few things from built in to modulesAnton Blanchard
Change a few devices and filesystems that are seldom used any more from built in to modules. This reduces our vmlinux about 500kB. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Bump kernel ring buffer size on 64 bit configsAnton Blanchard
When we issue a system reset, every CPU in the box prints an Oops, including a backtrace. Each of these can be quite large (over 4kB) and we may end up wrapping the ring buffer and losing important information. Bump the base size from 128kB to 256kB and the per CPU size from 4kB to 8kB. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-10-04powerpc/configs: Enable VMX cryptoAnton Blanchard
We see big improvements with the VMX crypto functions (often 10x or more), so enable it as a module. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2016-07-15powerpc/pseries: Auto-online hotplugged memoryNathan Fontenot
A recent update (commit id 31bc3858ea3) allows for automatically onlining memory that is added. This patch sets the config option CONFIG_MEMORY_HOTPLUG_DEFAULT_ONLINE=y for pseries and updates the pseries memory hotplug code so that DLPAR added memory can be automatically onlined instead of explicitly onlining the memory. 2016-07-08powerpc/configs: Remove old symbols from defconfigsAndrew Donnellan
Update defconfigs to remove old symbols and comments referencing old symbols. Dropped: * AVERAGE * INET_LRO * EXT3_DEFAULTS_TO_ORDERED * EXT3_FS_XATTR * I2O * INFINIBAND_AMSO1100 * INFINIBAND_EHCA * IP1000 Replaced: * BLK_DEV_XIP -> BLK_DEV_RAM_DAX * CLK_PPC_CORENET -> CLK_QORIQ * EXT2_FS_XIP -> FS_DAX * EXT3_FS* -> EXT4_FS* Signed-off-by: Andrew Donnellan <andrew.donnellan@au1.ibm.com> Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2015-09-29powerpc/configs: Re-enable CONFIG_SCSI_DHMichael Ellerman
Commit 086b91d052eb ("scsi_dh: integrate into the core SCSI code") changed CONFIG_SCSI_DH from tristate to bool. Our defconfigs have CONFIG_SCSI_DH=m, which the kconfig machinery warns us is invalid, but instead of converting it to =y it leaves it unset. This means we loose the CONFIG_SCSI_DH code and everything that depends on it. So convert the values in the defconfigs to =y. Fixes: 086b91d052eb ("scsi_dh: integrate into the core SCSI code") Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2015-08-27powerpc/powernv: Enable LEDS supportVasant Hegde
Commit 84ad6e5c added LEDS support for PowerNV platform. Lets update ppc64_defconfig to pick LEDS driver. PowerNV LEDS driver looks for "/ibm,opal/leds" node in device tree and loads if this node exists. Hence added it as 'm'. Also note that powernv LEDS driver needs NEW_LEDS and LEDS_CLASS as well. Hence added them to config file. mpe: Also add them to pseries_defconfig, which is currently also used for powernv systems. 2015-08-18powerpc/pseries: enable RTC class supportVaibhav Jain
A working rtc kernel driver is needed so that hwclock can synchronize system clock to rtc during shutdown/boot. We already have a powernv platform rtc driver located at drivers/rtc/rtc-opal.c. However it depends on CONFIG_RTC_CLASS which is disabled by default. Hence the driver isn't enabled and not compiled for the powernv kernel. We fix this by enabling rtc class support in pseries defconfig which enables this driver and compiles it into the pseries kernel. In case CONFIG_PPC_POWERNV is not enabled we fallback to 'Generic RTC support' driver which emulates the legacy 'PC RTC driver'. 2015-06-02powerpc/configs: Merge pseries_defconfig and pseries_le_defconfigCyril Bur
These two configs should be identical with the exception of big or little endian. The big endian version has XMON_DEFAULT turned on while the little endian has XMON_DEFAULT not set. It makes the most sense for defconfigs not to use xmon by default, production systems should get back up as quickly as possible, not sit in xmon. In the event debugging is required, the option can be enabled or xmon=on can be specified on commandline. 2015-01-20powerpc: Update all configs using savedefconfigMichael Ellerman
It looks like it's ~4 years since we updated some of these, so do a bulk update. Verified that the before and after generated configs are exactly the same. Which begs the question why update them? The answer is that it can be confusing when the stored defconfig drifts too far from the generated result. Signed-off-by: Michael Ellerman <mpe@ellerman.id.au>
2014-11-29netpoll: delete defconfig references to obsolete NETPOLL_TRAPPaul Gortmaker
In commit 9c62a68d13119a1ca9718381d97b0cb415ff4e9d ("netpoll: Remove dead packet receive code (CONFIG_NETPOLL_TRAP)") this Kconfig option was removed. 2014-03-24powerpc: Use default set of netfilter modules (CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED=n)Anton Blanchard
Our netfilter options are stale and important things like masquerading are no longer enabled. Instead of trying to keep up with any updates, set CONFIG_NETFILTER_ADVANCED=n on ppc64* and pseries* defconfigs. This enables the most common netfilter modules for us. While here, enable the network bridge module which is heavily used in KVM setups. Signed-off-by: Anton Blanchard <anton@samba.org> Signed-off-by: Benjamin Herrenschmidt <benh@kernel.crashing.org>
