Pull x86 EFI changes from Ingo Molnar:
"The main changes:
- Add debug code to the dump EFI pagetable - Borislav Petkov
- Make 1:1 runtime mapping robust when booting on machines with lots
of memory - Borislav Petkov
- Move the EFI facilities bits out of 'x86_efi_facility' and into
efi.flags which is the standard architecture independent place to
keep EFI state, by Matt Fleming.
- Add 'EFI mixed mode' support: this allows 64-bit kernels to be
booted from 32-bit firmware. This needs a bootloader that supports
the 'EFI handover protocol'. By Matt Fleming"

GFP_THISNODE is for callers that implement their own clever fallback to
remote nodes. It restricts the allocation to the specified node and
does not invoke reclaim, assuming that the caller will take care of it
when the fallback fails, e.g. through a subsequent allocation request
without GFP_THISNODE set.
However, many current GFP_THISNODE users only want the node exclusive
aspect of the flag, without actually implementing their own fallback or
triggering reclaim if necessary. This results in things like page
migration failing prematurely even when there is easily reclaimable
memory available, unless kswapd happens to be running already or a
concurrent allocation attempt triggers the necessary reclaim.
Convert all callsites that don't implement their own fallback strategy
to __GFP_THISNODE. This restricts the allocation a single node too, but
at the same time allows the allocator to enter the slowpath, wake
kswapd, and invoke direct reclaim if necessary, to make the allocation
happen when memory is full.

There's no good reason to keep efi_enabled() under CONFIG_X86 anymore,
since nothing about the implementation is specific to x86.
Set EFI feature flags in the ia64 boot path instead of claiming to
support all features. The old behaviour was actually buggy since
efi.memmap never points to a valid memory map, so we shouldn't be
claiming to support EFI_MEMMAP.
Fortunately, this bug was never triggered because EFI_MEMMAP isn't used
outside of arch/x86 currently, but that may not always be the case.

git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rafael/linux-pm
Pull ACPI and power management updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"As far as the number of commits goes, the top spot belongs to ACPI
this time with cpufreq in the second position and a handful of PM
core, PNP and cpuidle updates. They are fixes and cleanups mostly, as
usual, with a couple of new features in the mix.
The most visible change is probably that we will create struct
acpi_device objects (visible in sysfs) for all devices represented in
the ACPI tables regardless of their status and there will be a new
sysfs attribute under those objects allowing user space to check that
status via _STA.
Consequently, ACPI device eject or generally hot-removal will not
delete those objects, unless the table containing the corresponding
namespace nodes is unloaded, which is extremely rare. Also ACPI
container hotplug will be handled quite a bit differently and cpufreq
will support CPU boost ("turbo") generically and not only in the
acpi-cpufreq driver.
Specifics:
- ACPI core changes to make it create a struct acpi_device object for
every device represented in the ACPI tables during all namespace
scans regardless of the current status of that device. In
accordance with this, ACPI hotplug operations will not delete those
objects, unless the underlying ACPI tables go away.
- On top of the above, new sysfs attribute for ACPI device objects
allowing user space to check device status by triggering the
execution of _STA for its ACPI object. From Srinivas Pandruvada.
- ACPI core hotplug changes reducing code duplication, integrating
the PCI root hotplug with the core and reworking container hotplug.
- ACPI core simplifications making it use ACPI_COMPANION() in the
code "glueing" ACPI device objects to "physical" devices.
- ACPICA update to upstream version 20131218. This adds support for
the DBG2 and PCCT tables to ACPICA, fixes some bugs and improves
debug facilities. From Bob Moore, Lv Zheng and Betty Dall.
- Init code change to carry out the early ACPI initialization
earlier. That should allow us to use ACPI during the timekeeping
initialization and possibly to simplify the EFI initialization too.
From Chun-Yi Lee.
- Clenups of the inclusions of ACPI headers in many places all over
from Lv Zheng and Rashika Kheria (work in progress).
- New helper for ACPI _DSM execution and rework of the code in
drivers that uses _DSM to execute it via the new helper. From
Jiang Liu.
- New Win8 OSI blacklist entries from Takashi Iwai.
- Assorted ACPI fixes and cleanups from Al Stone, Emil Goode, Hanjun
Guo, Lan Tianyu, Masanari Iida, Oliver Neukum, Prarit Bhargava,
Rashika Kheria, Tang Chen, Zhang Rui.

Ramachandra.

Majewski.
- powernow-k6 cpufreq driver fixes from Mikulas Patocka.

- Assorted cpufreq drivers fixes and cleanups from Anson Huang, John

This patch makes a couple of changes to the SMBIOS/DMI scanning
code so it can be used on other archs (such as ARM and arm64):
(a) wrap the calls to ioremap()/iounmap(), this allows the use of a
flavor of ioremap() more suitable for random unaligned access;
(b) allow the non-EFI fallback probe into hardcoded physical address
0xF0000 to be disabled.

Commit 4b59e6c47309 ("mm, show_mem: suppress page counts in
non-blockable contexts") introduced SHOW_MEM_FILTER_PAGE_COUNT to
suppress PFN walks on large memory machines. Commit c78e93630d15 ("mm:
do not walk all of system memory during show_mem") avoided a PFN walk in
the generic show_mem helper which removes the requirement for
SHOW_MEM_FILTER_PAGE_COUNT in that case.
This patch removes PFN walkers from the arch-specific implementations
that report on a per-node or per-zone granularity. ARM and unicore32
still do a PFN walk as they report memory usage on each bank which is a
much finer granularity where the debugging information may still be of
use. As the remaining arches doing PFN walks have relatively small
amounts of memory, this patch simply removes SHOW_MEM_FILTER_PAGE_COUNT.

For user space packet capturing libraries such as libpcap, there's
currently only one way to check which BPF extensions are supported
by the kernel, that is, commit aa1113d9f85d ("net: filter: return
-EINVAL if BPF_S_ANC* operation is not supported"). For querying all
extensions at once this might be rather inconvenient.
Therefore, this patch introduces a new option which can be used as
an argument for getsockopt(), and allows one to obtain information
about which BPF extensions are supported by the current kernel.
As David Miller suggests, we do not need to define any bits right
now and status quo can just return 0 in order to state that this
versions supports SKF_AD_PROTOCOL up to SKF_AD_PAY_OFFSET. Later
additions to BPF extensions need to add their bits to the
bpf_tell_extensions() function, as documented in the comment.

A number of situations currently require the heavyweight smp_mb(),
even though there is no need to order prior stores against later
loads. Many architectures have much cheaper ways to handle these
situations, but the Linux kernel currently has no portable way
to make use of them.
This commit therefore supplies smp_load_acquire() and
smp_store_release() to remedy this situation. The new
smp_load_acquire() primitive orders the specified load against
any subsequent reads or writes, while the new smp_store_release()
primitive orders the specifed store against any prior reads or
writes. These primitives allow array-based circular FIFOs to be
implemented without an smp_mb(), and also allow a theoretical
hole in rcu_assign_pointer() to be closed at no additional
expense on most architectures.
In addition, the RCU experience transitioning from explicit
smp_read_barrier_depends() and smp_wmb() to rcu_dereference()
and rcu_assign_pointer(), respectively resulted in substantial
improvements in readability. It therefore seems likely that
replacing other explicit barriers with smp_load_acquire() and
smp_store_release() will provide similar benefits. It appears
that roughly half of the explicit barriers in core kernel code
might be so replaced.

This change adds a runtime option that will force ACPICA to use the
RSDT instead of the XSDT. Although the ACPI spec requires that an XSDT
be used instead of the RSDT, the XSDT has been found to be corrupt or
ill-formed on some machines.
This option is already in the Linux kernel. When it is back ported to
ACPICA, code is re-written to follow ACPICA coding style. This patch
is the generation of the integration.

Replace direct inclusions of <acpi/acpi.h>, <acpi/acpi_bus.h> and
<acpi/acpi_drivers.h>, which are incorrect, with <linux/acpi.h>
inclusions and remove some inclusions of those files that aren't
necessary.
First of all, <acpi/acpi.h>, <acpi/acpi_bus.h> and <acpi/acpi_drivers.h>
should not be included directly from any files that are built for
CONFIG_ACPI unset, because that generally leads to build warnings about
undefined symbols in !CONFIG_ACPI builds. For CONFIG_ACPI set,
<linux/acpi.h> includes those files and for CONFIG_ACPI unset it
provides stub ACPI symbols to be used in that case.
Second, there are ordering dependencies between those files that always
have to be met. Namely, it is required that <acpi/acpi_bus.h> be included
prior to <acpi/acpi_drivers.h> so that the acpi_pci_root declarations the
latter depends on are always there. And <acpi/acpi.h> which provides
basic ACPICA type declarations should always be included prior to any other
ACPI headers in CONFIG_ACPI builds. That also is taken care of including
<linux/acpi.h> as appropriate.

Pull Xen updates from Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk:
"This has tons of fixes and two major features which are concentrated
around the Xen SWIOTLB library.
The short <blurb> is that the tracing facility (just one function) has
been added to SWIOTLB to make it easier to track I/O progress.
Additionally under Xen and ARM (32 & 64) the Xen-SWIOTLB driver
"is used to translate physical to machine and machine to physical
addresses of foreign[guest] pages for DMA operations" (Stefano) when
booting under hardware without proper IOMMU.
There are also bug-fixes, cleanups, compile warning fixes, etc.
The commit times for some of the commits is a bit fresh - that is b/c
we wanted to make sure we have the Ack's from the ARM folks - which
with the string of back-to-back conferences took a bit of time. Rest
assured - the code has been stewing in #linux-next for some time.
Features:
- SWIOTLB has tracing added when doing bounce buffer.
- Xen ARM/ARM64 can use Xen-SWIOTLB. This work allows Linux to
safely program real devices for DMA operations when running as a
guest on Xen on ARM, without IOMMU support. [*1]
- xen_raw_printk works with PVHVM guests if needed.
Bug-fixes:
- Make memory ballooning work under HVM with large MMIO region.
- Inform hypervisor of MCFG regions found in ACPI DSDT.
- Remove deprecated IRQF_DISABLED.
- Remove deprecated __cpuinit.
[*1]:
"On arm and arm64 all Xen guests, including dom0, run with second
stage translation enabled. As a consequence when dom0 programs a
device for a DMA operation is going to use (pseudo) physical
addresses instead machine addresses. This work introduces two trees
to track physical to machine and machine to physical mappings of
foreign pages. Local pages are assumed mapped 1:1 (physical address
== machine address). It enables the SWIOTLB-Xen driver on ARM and
ARM64, so that Linux can translate physical addresses to machine
addresses for dma operations when necessary. " (Stefano)"

Modify struct acpi_dev_node to contain a pointer to struct acpi_device

Drop the ACPI_HANDLE_SET() macro entirely and rework its users to

pass the result of acpi_get_child() directly to ACPI_HANDLE_SET()
introduce a helper routine acpi_preset_companion() doing an
equivalent thing.
The main motivation for doing this is that there are things
represented by struct acpi_device objects that don't have valid
ACPI handles (so called fixed ACPI hardware features, such as
power and sleep buttons) and we would like to create platform
device objects for them and "glue" them to their ACPI companions
in the usual way (which currently is impossible due to the
lack of valid ACPI handles). However, there are more reasons
why it may be useful.
First, struct acpi_device pointers allow of much better type checking
than void pointers which are ACPI handles, so it should be more
difficult to write buggy code using modified struct acpi_dev_node
and the new macros. Second, the change should help to reduce (over
time) the number of places in which the result of ACPI_HANDLE() is
passed to acpi_bus_get_device() in order to obtain a pointer to the
struct acpi_device associated with the given "physical" device,
because now that pointer is returned by ACPI_COMPANION() directly.
Finally, the change should make it easier to write generic code that
will build both for CONFIG_ACPI set and unset without adding explicit
compiler directives to it.

Pull networking updates from David Miller:
1) The addition of nftables. No longer will we need protocol aware
firewall filtering modules, it can all live in userspace.
At the core of nftables is a, for lack of a better term, virtual
machine that executes byte codes to inspect packet or metadata
(arriving interface index, etc.) and make verdict decisions.
Besides support for loading packet contents and comparing them, the
interpreter supports lookups in various datastructures as
fundamental operations. For example sets are supports, and
therefore one could create a set of whitelist IP address entries
which have ACCEPT verdicts attached to them, and use the appropriate
byte codes to do such lookups.
Since the interpreted code is composed in userspace, userspace can
do things like optimize things before giving it to the kernel.
Another major improvement is the capability of atomically updating
portions of the ruleset. In the existing netfilter implementation,
one has to update the entire rule set in order to make a change and
this is very expensive.
Userspace tools exist to create nftables rules using existing
netfilter rule sets, but both kernel implementations will need to
co-exist for quite some time as we transition from the old to the
new stuff.
Kudos to Patrick McHardy, Pablo Neira Ayuso, and others who have
worked so hard on this.
2) Daniel Borkmann and Hannes Frederic Sowa made several improvements
to our pseudo-random number generator, mostly used for things like
UDP port randomization and netfitler, amongst other things.
In particular the taus88 generater is updated to taus113, and test
cases are added.
3) Support 64-bit rates in HTB and TBF schedulers, from Eric Dumazet
and Yang Yingliang.
4) Add support for new 577xx tigon3 chips to tg3 driver, from Nithin
Sujir.
5) Fix two fatal flaws in TCP dynamic right sizing, from Eric Dumazet,
Neal Cardwell, and Yuchung Cheng.
6) Allow IP_TOS and IP_TTL to be specified in sendmsg() ancillary
control message data, much like other socket option attributes.
From Francesco Fusco.
7) Allow applications to specify a cap on the rate computed
automatically by the kernel for pacing flows, via a new
SO_MAX_PACING_RATE socket option. From Eric Dumazet.
8) Make the initial autotuned send buffer sizing in TCP more closely
reflect actual needs, from Eric Dumazet.
9) Currently early socket demux only happens for TCP sockets, but we
can do it for connected UDP sockets too. Implementation from Shawn
Bohrer.
10) Refactor inet socket demux with the goal of improving hash demux
performance for listening sockets. With the main goals being able
to use RCU lookups on even request sockets, and eliminating the
listening lock contention. From Eric Dumazet.
11) The bonding layer has many demuxes in it's fast path, and an RCU
conversion was started back in 3.11, several changes here extend the
RCU usage to even more locations. From Ding Tianhong and Wang
Yufen, based upon suggestions by Nikolay Aleksandrov and Veaceslav
Falico.
12) Allow stackability of segmentation offloads to, in particular, allow
segmentation offloading over tunnels. From Eric Dumazet.
13) Significantly improve the handling of secret keys we input into the
various hash functions in the inet hashtables, TCP fast open, as
well as syncookies. From Hannes Frederic Sowa. The key fundamental
operation is "net_get_random_once()" which uses static keys.
Hannes even extended this to ipv4/ipv6 fragmentation handling and
our generic flow dissector.
14) The generic driver layer takes care now to set the driver data to
NULL on device removal, so it's no longer necessary for drivers to
explicitly set it to NULL any more. Many drivers have been cleaned
up in this way, from Jingoo Han.
15) Add a BPF based packet scheduler classifier, from Daniel Borkmann.
16) Improve CRC32 interfaces and generic SKB checksum iterators so that
SCTP's checksumming can more cleanly be handled. Also from Daniel
Borkmann.
17) Add a new PMTU discovery mode, IP_PMTUDISC_INTERFACE, which forces
using the interface MTU value. This helps avoid PMTU attacks,
particularly on DNS servers. From Hannes Frederic Sowa.
18) Use generic XPS for transmit queue steering rather than internal
(re-)implementation in virtio-net. From Jason Wang.

The get_dumpable() return value is not boolean. Most users of the
function actually want to be testing for non-SUID_DUMP_USER(1) rather than
SUID_DUMP_DISABLE(0). The SUID_DUMP_ROOT(2) is also considered a
protected state. Almost all places did this correctly, excepting the two
places fixed in this patch.
Wrong logic:
if (dumpable == SUID_DUMP_DISABLE) { /* be protective */ }
or
if (dumpable == 0) { /* be protective */ }
or
if (!dumpable) { /* be protective */ }
Correct logic:
if (dumpable != SUID_DUMP_USER) { /* be protective */ }
or
if (dumpable != 1) { /* be protective */ }
Without this patch, if the system had set the sysctl fs/suid_dumpable=2, a
user was able to ptrace attach to processes that had dropped privileges to
that user. (This may have been partially mitigated if Yama was enabled.)
The macros have been moved into the file that declares get/set_dumpable(),
which means things like the ia64 code can see them too.
