2012-12-10drivers/video: add support for the Solomon SSD1307 OLED ControllerMaxime Ripard
Add support for the Solomon SSD1307 OLED controller found on the Crystalfontz CFA10036 board. This controller can drive a display with a resolution up to 128x39 and can operate over I2C or SPI. The current driver has only been tested on the CFA-10036, that is using this controller over I2C to driver a 96x16 OLED screen. 2012-12-06mmc: dt: add no-1-8-v device tree flagDaniel Drake
The OLPC XO-1.75 laptop includes a SDHCI controller which is 1.8v capable, and it truthfully reports so in its capabilities. This alternate voltage is used for driving new "UHS-I" SD cards at their full speed. However, what the controller doesn't know is that the motherboard physically doesn't have a 1.8v supply available, so attempting to switch to the 1.8v level will result in a situation that cannot be recovered from without physically replugging the SD card. Add a device tree flag that can be used on systems like these, and hook it up to the equivalent SDHCI quirk. 2012-12-06mmc: omap_hsmmc: Enable HSPE bit for high speed cardsHebbar, Gururaja
HSMMC IP on AM33xx need a special setting to handle High-speed cards. Other platforms like TI81xx, OMAP4 may need this as-well. This depends on the HSMMC IP timing closure done for the high speed cards. From AM335x TRM (SPRUH73F - 18.3.12 Output Signals Generation): The MMC/SD/SDIO output signals can be driven on either falling edge or rising edge depending on the SD_HCTL[2] HSPE bit. This feature allows to reach better timing performance, and thus to increase data transfer frequency. There are few pre-requisites for enabling the HSPE bit - Controller should support High-Speed-Enable Bit and - Controller should not be using DDR Mode and - Controller should advertise that it supports High Speed in capabilities register and - MMC/SD clock coming out of controller > 25MHz Signed-off-by: Hebbar, Gururaja <gururaja.hebbar@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Venkatraman S <svenkatr@ti.com> Signed-off-by: Chris Ball <cjb@laptop.org>

2012-12-06KVM: PPC: Book3S HV: Provide a method for userspace to read and write the HPTPaul Mackerras
A new ioctl, KVM_PPC_GET_HTAB_FD, returns a file descriptor. Reads on this fd return the contents of the HPT (hashed page table), writes create and/or remove entries in the HPT. There is a new capability, KVM_CAP_PPC_HTAB_FD, to indicate the presence of the ioctl. The ioctl takes an argument structure with the index of the first HPT entry to read out and a set of flags. The flags indicate whether the user is intending to read or write the HPT, and whether to return all entries or only the "bolted" entries (those with the bolted bit, 0x10, set in the first doubleword). This is intended for use in implementing qemu's savevm/loadvm and for live migration. Therefore, on reads, the first pass returns information about all HPTEs (or all bolted HPTEs). When the first pass reaches the end of the HPT, it returns from the read. Subsequent reads only return information about HPTEs that have changed since they were last read. A read that finds no changed HPTEs in the HPT following where the last read finished will return 0 bytes. The format of the data provides a simple run-length compression of the invalid entries. Each block of data starts with a header that indicates the index (position in the HPT, which is just an array), the number of valid entries starting at that index (may be zero), and the number of invalid entries following those valid entries. The valid entries, 16 bytes each, follow the header. The invalid entries are not explicitly represented. Relaxing this constraint is in progress, but not yet ready for prime time. These commits were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/724, and are at branch rcu/nocb. 2. Additional CPU-hotplug/RCU improvements, posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/327, and are at branch rcu/hotplug. Note that the commit eliminating __stop_machine() was judged to be too-high of risk, so is deferred to 3.9. 5. Changes to RCU's idle interface, most notably a new module parameter that redirects normal grace-period operations to their expedited equivalents. These were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/739, and are at branch rcu/idle. 6. Additional diagnostics for RCU's CPU stall warning facility, posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/315, and are at branch rcu/stall. The most notable change reduces the default RCU CPU stall-warning time from 60 seconds to 21 seconds, so that it once again happens sooner than the softlockup timeout. 7. Documentation updates, which were posted to LKML at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/10/30/280, and are at branch rcu/doc. A couple of late-breaking changes were posted at https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/16/634 and https://lkml.org/lkml/2012/11/16/547. 8. 2012-11-30kbuild: centralize .dts->.dtb ruleStephen Warren
All architectures that use cmd_dtc do so in almost the same way. Create a central build rule to avoid duplication. The one difference is that most current uses of dtc build $(obj)/%.dtb from $(src)/dts/%.dts rather than building the .dtb in the same directory as the .dts file. This difference will be eliminated arch-by-arch in future patches. MIPS is the exception here; it already uses the exact same rule as the new common rule, so the duplicate is removed in this patch to avoid any conflict. arch/mips changes courtesy of Ralf Baechle. Update Documentation/kbuild to remove the explicit call to cmd_dtc from the example, now that the rule exists in a centralized location.
