2019-09-19dt-bindings: net: Correct the documentation of KSZ9021 skew valuesJames Byrne
The documentation of skew values for the KSZ9021 PHY was misleading because the driver implementation followed the erroneous information given in the original KSZ9021 datasheet before it was corrected in revision 1.2 (Feb 2014). It is probably too late to correct the driver now because of the many existing device trees, so instead this just corrects the documentation to explain that what you actually get is not what you might think when looking at the device tree. 2018-05-16net: phy: micrel: add 125MHz reference clock workaroundMarkus Niebel
The micrel KSZ9031 phy has a optional clock pin (CLK125_NDO) which can be used as reference clock for the MAC unit. The clock signal must meet the RGMII requirements to ensure the correct data transmission between the MAC and the PHY. The KSZ9031 phy does not fulfill the duty cycle requirement if the phy is configured as slave. For a complete describtion look at the errata sheets: DS80000691D or DS80000692D. The errata sheet recommends to force the phy into master mode whenever there is a 1000Base-T link-up as work around. Only set the "micrel,force-master" property if you use the phy reference clock provided by CLK125_NDO pin as MAC reference clock in your application. Attenation, this workaround is only usable if the link partner can be configured to slave mode for 1000Base-T. 2017-09-05dt-bindings: Remove "status" from examplesRob Herring
Pretty much any node can have a status property, so it doesn't need to be in examples. Converted with the following command and removed examples with SoC and board specific splits: git grep -l -E 'status.*=.*' Documentation/devicetree/ | xargs sed -i -E '/\sstatus.*=.*"(disabled|ok|okay)/d' Acked-by: Mark Rutland <mark.rutland@arm.com> Signed-off-by: Rob Herring <robh@kernel.org>
2016-10-06devicetree: net: micrel-ksz90x1.txt: Properly explain skew settingsMike Looijmans
The KSZ9031 skew registers contain an offset, the chip's default value is "neutral" which does not add any skew. Programming a 0 into a skew property will actually set it the maximal negative adjustment and not to a neutral position as one would expect. Explain this situation in the devicetree binding documentation and list the settings that the chip considers neutral. Changing the implementation to accept negative values would have been a better solution, but would break existing configurations. 2015-12-11Doc: Micrel-ksz90x1.txt: Document deprecated MAC OF propertiesAndrew Lunn
Phy properties are expected to be found in the PHY OF node. However this Micrel driver also allows them to be placed into the MAC OF node. This is deprecated. Document it as such, and remove the example using the deprecated method to prevent people copying it into new device tree files.
